Samuel L. Jackson: J.J. Abrams Still Haven’t Talked To Me, Mark Hamill and Ewan McGregor about Episode 7.

star wars

Samuel L. Jackson was on The Late Show last night and said to David Letterman that he and two other Jedi Knights still haven’t talked with J.J. Abrams about the new Star Wars movie. Not that they have to…

Still if true it’s a bit surprising that Mark Hamill still haven’t been contacted by J.J., especially with all the talk about the Big Three returning and training for their roles. On the other hand the absence from Episode 7 of young Obi-Wan and the diseased Mace Windu won’t be a shock.

Here’s what he said:

Or maybe Hamill was contacted by someone else, not Abrams. Not everything runs through him after all.

I’m so tired Samuel. You were one of the worst characters of Star Wars. Please, just stop. Just stop. Please.

I completely agree, who said JJ had to get ahold of you SLJ? Your character died, you had your 15 minutes with it after you begged Lucas, now move on. You don’t need to be in every movie ever made.

Jackson was fine, and McGregor was a great Obi-Wan but I don’t think there’s any need to have them come back in vii except maybe as holograms in some kind of jedi library file.

You prequel haters are really clouded in what’s right and wrong. Mace Windu was not bad. If Darth Maul can be resurrected in Clone Wars with robot legs, than Mace Windu should return too.

You should stop, please! Mace Windu is a good character, well-played and written. But I hope he will not be in the script too. There’s need to see new characters. But… perhaps… some ancient hologram in an ancient and dusty jedi archive… in an ancient temple in ruins… in an ancient unknown desert planet… 🙂

DR Who fans will recognise these tactics. For months now Paul Mcgann has been saying that he’s not involved in the 50th anniversary, and then he appears in a mini episode yesterday completely by surprise. It’s all to add a bit of a surprise to the proceedings. Sometimes it’s good to be surprised. Yesterday was one of those days for Dr Who fans. Us Star Wars fans will have one soon.

Honestly I don’t think Mark Hamill or anyone involved would be allowed to tell anyone who isn’t involved with anything about the film anyway.

Please for the love of all that’s good about Star Wars, I hope Samuel isn’t in episode 7..
Mace Windu wasn’t a great character…Is it not enough that Marvel has a Nine movie deal with you and still your trying to muscle your way into the next Star Wars Trilogy as well..

I was wondering the same thing. Maybe he’s got a trainer working with him in his house or something, so he doesn’t have to leave where he’d get photographed by paparazzi.

Ever heard the saying, “Abs are created in the kitchen.” He doesn’t need to run 5 miles a day or exercise 2 hours a day, he needs to change his diet. That will play the biggest impact on his change.

Fuck what’s with all the Sam Jackson hate? I can understand him not being in Episode 7, but I’m sure there’s room for him and Ewan in a spinoff movie… I don’t think we’ve seen the last of Obi-Wan, at least. And not necessarily in the new trilogy, but in the spin-off movies, I mean…

And I do not support the idea of Sam Jackson in Ep 7, however, upon watching a clip from Ep 2 last night, WIndu is forced off the balcony during the battle with Jango/ battle droids, and he lands on his feet… So I guess he COULD have survived his fall on Coruscant… but again I’m not supporting it lol… Plus he would have to account for why he just stood back during the OT (and the rest of Ep 3) without trying to contact Obi-Wan or Yoda… I dunno, I could go on…

Additionally, we still need to see a scene where Sam Jackson says “Now hand me my lightsaber. It’s the one that says ‘bad motherfucker’ on it.” Haha

when windu fell from the ledge, he pressed his emergency locator alerting his clone commander. after falling and bouncing from several air vehicles, he landed in the lower depths to be rescued by his clones, who placed him in a suspended animation medical tank. the clones went on to be killed in the purge while windu’s capsule sat forgotten gathering dust for years until being located 30-40 years after return of the jedi….

      Nice idea!

But. It will be 20 years from ROTS to ANH and how many years from ANH to ROTJ and the ST will take place some 30-40 years after ROTJ. So, that makes it 20 plus XX years plus 30-40 years.

And on top of that, such medical tanks need maintenance and electricity.

Unless, …………………. he is frozen in carbonite because his clones couldn’t find a proper medical tank around the vicinity and there happened to be a carbon freezing parlor down the road. So, they just pooped him in there and maybe freeze themselves too coz they are sick of all these fighting.

      I am so free, seriously!

Mace could have ended up in some prison somewhere, with one hand, no lightsaber and unable to escape. Perhaps he was frozen in carbonite after trying to escape and is found in the since abandoned prison 50 years later by a young jedi..or Luke

Sounds to me like Sam Jackson is creating a diversion for Lucasfilm & JJ…….
Truthfully speaking, perhaps none of them were asked by JJ, Lucas himself did reportedly slip the news that he was already almost done with contracts negotiations before he sold Star Wars to Disney.

On the other hand JJ did totally blow off the rest of the original Star Trek actors…….

Hopefully this means that Jackson, Hamill & McGregor are all signed for Episode 7 : )

…….If it’s true then it’s already an up hill battle for all involved. And the saddest part is,
is that Star Wars is at stake……..

I can’t understand why you would want Jackson and McGregor back??? Why not bring Jar-Jar back while you’re at it?!? Nobody in Ep:7 would know or care who Windu is, and Obi-wan should be Alec. Jeez, the new movies need to abandon the prequels, take some aspects from the originals and move forward in their own direction.

J.J. blew off Leonard Nimoy??? You sure about that?

Ahhh I see, a PT hater huh……. May the force be with you, always!

1st: Alec can’t come back, thought you would’ve been able to figure that one out on your own. So if there is a force ghost of Obi-wan in episode 7, it’ll be McGregor!

2nd: If nobody in Ep. 7 knows who Windu is, who cares. Doesn’t change the fact that if they want to bring his character back, they can.

3rd: The new trilogy needs to take aspects from BOTH the prequel & the original trilogies and tie all 3 trilogies together!

4th: Yes, Leonard Nimoy’s Spock is the only character to not get dissed, but his role in Into Darkness is so not needed. Shatner lobbied for a role in both of JJ’s Star Trek films and he got blown off…….so be it. So basically your saying that your okay with only Daniels coming back, if even that. You have a right to your opinion, just like me : )

5th: If your such a fan of the original trilogy then you should know that the biggest thing ever fan cared about the original trilogy is the characters, and the actors who played them.

If you take away those characters from Episode 7, then you have the prequels. And a lot of people have a problem with the prequels due to the lack of characters they all knew and cared about.

6th: I’m pretty sure Disney didn’t buy Star Wars just to blow off the prequels. I mean after all, it is because of the prequels, the characters in them and the fans of them, that continue to make Star Wars, MORE than “just” a classic sci-fi trilogy!!!!!!!

Star Wars is the greatest sci-fi saga of all time, it has a beginning, a middle, and so it will have an end…….a trilogy of trilogies

Why someone who has an opinion about a character has to be a PT hater? I don’t like Mace Windu character and Jackson’s interpretation. That’s it. I’m a hater? No. PT has good points and good characters but Mace Windu is the worst. And in my opinion Jackson being a SW fan is the reason. From his death to Episode 7 will probably pass 30 years. OT didn’t show nothing about old Jedis like MAce Windu. Why he has to appear in this one. So yes: I’m tired of Samuel suplicating for another role in the franchise.

I stand corrected on calling you a PT hater…….

I disagree with you on Mace Windu’s character. I think he was a good character. Sam Jackson played a solid part, to me.

I do agree with you that Mace should not show up in the ST, but if they call him in…….so be it.

I think too he didn’t have to return. But, perhaps, Abrams is searching to put some links about Prequel Trilogy in Ep.7. So, maybe, if Windu is going to return, he will be an hologram. Maybe, there will be some references to the Clone Wars.

You know, they did just switch up the writing staff. Then Disney announces that they are pushing Ep. 7 release date from summer to winter 2015. And now word leaks that Hamill hasn’t been approached?

Hate to say it everyone but maybe JJ & co. have thrown out everything that Lucas & Arndt worked on, could be he’s going in a hole new different direction?

I personally like Mace. He was a firm jedi with an attitude with just this aura of badassness surrounding him and he backs it up. I believe he held his own with Palpatine but don’t even get me started on that lol. Sam did a great job of pulling off a jedi. With the little screen time he did have we can see he pulls of the demeanor quite well. I don’t believe he should come back to the movies, but in my heart he’s still alive somewhere…

While I don’t think there is a need for Mace in the ST, I don’t mind McGregor reprising his role as Obi-Wan. I mean, Ewan is not a bad actor he’s just had a bad director in the first films. With some make-up he’ll pass as Alec just fine.

However EpVII cannot just be a reunion of old friends, and if Luke is taking up the Obi-Wan role then there may not even be a need for Obi-Wan to return as a major plot device. In fact, I hope we don’t see a flood of dead characters return as force ghosts just for the sake of having them in the movie.

Leonard Nimoy had the perfect cameo in Star Trek but in Into Darkness he was just there for the sake of being there, completely unnecessary imo.

One thing we are learning more and more about the big Hollywood types is they lie. They lie a lot. Lets see Jackson in a movie with Hamill. Jackson in a movie with McGregor. They are in London. It’s not star wars. Hmmmm….. What could be going on…. Simple they are all lying! …. JJ will make the announcement when he and Disney is ready and not a second before that.
