Star Wars: Episode VIII Starts Post Production!
Star Wars: Episode VIII director Rian Johnson posted on Instagram new image indicating the start of post production for the movie. Check it out…
From John Williams’ statement from 2 days ago we know that he will be watching a rough cut of the movie in a few weeks time, so Rian and film editor Bob Ducsay will be very busy this month. Also ILM are most likely working on some test shots from the movie. Once the final cut is locked, they can start their real work on the final shots.
Exciting times to be a Star Wars fan!

This film is going to be so great, I reckon the best out of the new films released
I have faith on Ryan Johnson. Each fan may appreciate different things. I do care about the characters more than anything else, this is why this could be the best out of the eight saga films, for me.
So painful to wait… next will be the title release, then the teaser, then the trailer, then the toys…. who am I kidding Im a gluten for this!! Cant wait!!
A gluten? lol. or Glutton?
hee hee.
Cause I’m a glutton.
You never heard of Gluten the Hutt?? LOL And yes ok Im a Glutton as well…
Ha ha! I guess after Han Solo killed him, he became Gluten Free…
*ba-doom Chi* LOL
I am so excited to see how the story unfolds. I hope the story includes a little romance. I loved how ESB had adventure, action, romance, mystery, comedy and characters we loved and believed in. All the elements that made the film one the best films of today. I believe that Rian Johnson has the capability to tell a great story.
So you’ve already accepted the idea of a ESB rehash. GOOD
Rian Johnson is way better than that.
Too bad, Kathleen Kennedy picked JJ Abrams to write the first installment.
Yeah, but what does that have to do with VIII? Nothing.
I didn’t know VIII was a standalone movie that had nothing to do with the stroy and characters from VII. That sounds great.
Dude, once again: WHY ARE YOU HERE? You clearly hate the ONE movie released. So go elsewhere. Easy as that.
Block him. It’s so freeing.
Star Wars wasn’t created by JJ Abrams in 2015
But this website is about the new movies. So you’re just going to be here being obnoxious forever. Screw off!
Well at least there is rogue one for that
Stroy? Calm down before you type.
But let’s hope they put some original concepts in it too without simply playing directly by the ESB rule book.

Fascinating watch. Thanks for posting. Yeah, I remember when SW IV came out and my dad saying certain elements were similar to movies he saw as a kid and I just wouldn’t listen. “SW was new and nothing ever has been in the movies like that ever”. I said as a 10 yr old child. I guess certain things you give a pass to and other things you raise a stink about.
Old elements in a new way is what smart people do.
It kind of hard to say: “I want this SW movie to be great” and not kind of mention ESB though lol (even leading up to TFA we ‘wanted it to be like ESB’ just like every franchise movie).
I guess we should just be happy we have ESB lol
Be careful what you wish for when you say the second film in a Star Wars trilogy needs romance. You may end up hating sand.
But hating sand is still better than gobbing shite
If Episode VIII is anything like RJ’s previous work and the first seven films in the Star Wars saga then it will be a great film with a powerful story.

The release date remains exactly the same in case you didn’t get it
I know!
Awesome. Now to wait for reshoot announcements and watch the Internet freak out at Disney for a call they probably didn’t make. 😀
RJ, if you’re reading this, i volunteer to be a test screener… please…
I’ll pay money to be a test screener 🙂
Pick me!! Pick me!!
Just think we are a year away from getting a 5 second teaser for the teaser for the trailer for a movie.
You forgot all of the Twitter posts first hinting at the teaser for the teaser for the trailer, followed by posts officially announcing the teaser for the teaser for the trailer, and finally tweeting the day of release for the teaser for the teaser for the trailer.
.
Make it stop. Please, please just make it stop.
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
A film that’s in post-production, yet it doesn’t even have a title yet, lol.
Well, episode VII started even before the title announcement.
Yeah, that’s not always unusual. Or they might be keeping it from us.
It’s called Star Wars.
-STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII STARTS POST PRODUCTION!-
That is one weird title for a Star Wars film.
It’s better than “Episode VIII: The Force Goes To Work” or “Episode IX: The Force Goes Home To A Wife And Kids That Don’t Understand And Cries Itself To Sleep”.
Episode X: The Force Hates Itself And Wants To Die.
clearly the Force is very much out of balance to crave death
Well it’s been a long time. Even the Force can only take so much.
Haha.
I always assumed that a movie like this was already being assembled during principal photography.
I hate to break it to you, but this film began post-production a long time ago. Post runs concurrent with production and an “edited assembly” was probably done by the time they wrapped photography. Editorial got into full swing the day AFTER wrap (which was a while ago).
I have a weird desire to want to see a rough cut of a film sometime. Without all the effects. Would be interesting to witness it versus the final product.
If you torrent you may be able to find some work prints for films out there. I’ve seen a few, its a weird experience but cool.
somehow it seems unlikely a rough cut of Episode VIII could possibly slip out like that….
Yeah, something as big as a Star Wars film would never see a workprint accidentally released 🙂
Hopefully Trevorrow will start work on IX soon.
now If we can just get the official title soon…
It would be cool for a title, but honestly I want them to get a rough cut of the movie down and then peg down a title that fits it. I know with myself I have an easier time naming something after I can see it
Platinum Star has been banned. We’ve received numerous reports on his negative and trolling comments. Also we warned him, but nothing changed. Constantly hating on everything new from the Star Wars Universe is not productive at all and is not helping the discussions in any way.
Good job guy’s.
At last… He should go back to some prequel forum or the dumpster IMDB boards. That is where he belong.
The appreciation of the prequels has nothing to do with his ban. We’re not prequel haters here, but we always try to accept other points of view. Not just bashing and even insulting the new people behind Star Wars.
Funny thing was he also bashed the prequels. That’s why it was clear he was a troll.
No, that’s just a difference of opinion.
I blocked him a while back, it was clear he was trolling for the sake of riling up. Which is a troll by definition, of course.
yeah he was one of those trolls
good on you guys
Thank you, sincerely.
Thank you. There is plenty of room to disagree and not be a troll.
YES!! Thanks for that, his venom was so toxic it was painful to watch it infect otherwise good discussion.
JUSTICE…
To be honest, until I’ve seen Rogue One a bunch of times I’m not even getting hyped about episode 8 yet. All my excitement is grounded in Rogue One for now.
I feel quite the opposite to be honest. It’s not that I’m not excited about Rogue One, but I’m already far more excited for Episode VIII even if we saw nothing of it.
as pumped as I am for rogue one after that amazing trailer, it’s hard for me to be a buzzed about that movie compared to rogue one. For episode 8 I’m just so engaged in the mystery of who everyone is and what happens to the Galaxy. Literally anything could happen! Rogue one seems like more of an emotional rollercoaster that has an end result which we know very well.
i imagine the editing bay for rogue one is a tad more crowded than ep VIII’s. 😉
Fun Fact: Rogue One had a larger budget than TFA.
Three times the effects shots and a longer production schedule.

“Keep it. You’re going to need it.”
HYPE!
since Rian Johnson challenged us to watch those six films that might influence VIII somehow, I’m going to take the challenge. I’m watching Twelve O’Clock High now.
Wich films?
I am very curious.
Gunga Din, Twelve o’clock High, Letter Not Sent, Bridge on the River Kwai, Three Lonely Samurai, and something else I can’t remember at the moment
