Could “Rogue I” Be a Name of the Ship in Star Wars: Rogue One?
LEGO showcased some of their upcoming Star Wars sets during the Nuremberg Toy Fair, and gave a sneak peek at what we could expect from the company in the future. One particular image got the attention of everyone – the Rogue One line…
There are two different ideas that this image suggests – we’re either going to see the Slave I and Boba Fett in the movie, or we’re going to see a very similar ship (the model in question is classified in-canon as a “Firespray-31-class patrol and attack craft”). Given that Boba Fett is presumably going to get an inevitable Star Wars Anthology film of his own, the latter seems a bit more plausible – and with it comes an interesting little detail that some could easily overlook.
What’s really interesting is how the “One” in the title is represented by a Roman numeral. There’s a chance that they might be doing this so that they don’t have to rename and repackage all the Rogue One merchandise for every individual territory it’s sold in (as there is a language barrier in play with LEGO), there’s also the possibility that Rogue I is the actual name of the ship. What if the ship that they’re showing turns out to play a crucial role in how the Death Star plans are stolen? Perhaps, then, the film could have an aerial/spacefaring component to the actual theft of the plans!
Outside of Rogue One is another thing of interest – the name of the line of LEGO aside from the Prequel Trilogy/Original Trilogy, The Force Awakens, and Rebels. It’s called The Freemaker Adventures. If I had to guess, this line will likely tie into another LEGO Star Wars show – and it’s probably the line that those two mysterious sets of brand-new ships correspond to.
Grant has been a fan of Star Wars for as long as he can remember, having seen every movie on the big screen. When he’s not hard at work with his college studies, he keeps himself busy by reporting on all kinds of Star Wars news for SWNN and general movie news on the sister site, Movie News Net. He served as a frequent commentator on SWNN’s The Resistance Broadcast.
I don’t think the image is indicative necessarily that there is a Slave I type ship named ‘Rogue One’ in the movie.

This doesn’t dismiss what this article is about – R1 being a name of a ship.
Wasn’t intended as a dismissal. If anything it’s a co-sign.
Was as mistake with Rouge one and Slave I ,not to mention that the ship is primer red at the hull.
This reminds me of the “Finn is Landos kid” toy description, we got months ago.
Some folks that are in charge of set up, type phasing etc. are either fans with common errors or are they totally ignorant to Star Wars.
In this case it is like when people say BB88 because of IG88 instead of BB-8. Most likely a flub but thanks for the heads up.
A little Boba in Rouge One could be cool, with minimal palm trees of course.
Clearly the UCS Slave 1, everyone can see that. Not sure why its in the picture there.
Do you think boba could be involved in this group then? Would be an ingesting dynamic if Boba helped both the rebellion and the empire!
they might just needed a ship there. Or… we will see what did Vader mean by”No more disintegrations!”
Most over hyped line in the Star Wars film saga, period.
uhh, i’m not hyped by that line at all.
Yeah, I want to see one, an actual disintegration for once. Everything just gets obliterated or blasted.
I’m not even sure I could handle it…it would be like beyond bad ass!!!
I’m just going to put this out there. They use Slave 1 to steal the plans, codenaming it Rogue 1.
Is anyone else going to talk about the TV series in August? (Also pictured)
yeah I see that too
The text wouldnt say tv series because that wouldnt be centred under the circle properly.
Although New TV Series would work. Get outta the way lady! (and cheer up!) 🙂
Live TV Series might fit. In which case, X-schwing standing by!
Lego TV Series as well.
Any tv series news has me like:
Probably just a Lego series based on OT
From Rebelscum.com…
“LEGO announced a new animated Star Wars series coming August similar to their two previous animated series The Yoda Chronicles and Droid Tales. The announcement was made at the Nuremberg Toy Fair, and also included news of some new LEGO sets. The Eclipse Fighter (75145) and the Star Scavenger (75147) will play a big part in the show.”
That’s a horrible picture, It could be a Firespray Patrol craft but it also sort of looks like a Republic Gunship might even be an “uglie” custom of both.
The coloring looks cool though.
Is the origin of Rogue Squadron? If so, Rogue One would be a pilot or ship’s call-sign, no?
Or that Felicity Jones is playing Mara Jade also a Rouge One.
Rouge as in a renagade and/or the red headed green eyed mother of Hux and Rey Skywalker.
Rouge is not just a red leader connotation in my point of view, perhaps it has double/parallels in a narrative sense.
I hope Biggs is mentioned.
And a Vader vs. Asoka confrontation would be interesting if pulled off wisely… A hard one to say the least.
Hugely doubt they’ll place such a huge (and now non-canon) maguffin like MJ in Rogue One; in any case, this time period (pre-Ep. IV), she was at the peak of her role as Emperor’s Hand, and wouldn’t be part of this crew of commandos stealing the plans to Death Star I…
PS – Biggs was in Red Squadron, may he R.I.P. 🙂
Geraldine James is rumoured to be cast in Ep 8
Look her up, I’m getting the feeling that this is Rey’s mother
And an older version of the Felicity Jones character in Rogue one. The age and appearances line up.
Plus the rumors that Mara was going to show up in Rebels and was released as a Black series figure.
