‘Star Wars: Outlaws’ Releases New Story Trailer, Confirmed for August 30 Release

Developer Massive Entertainment and game publisher Ubisoft released a new trailer for Star Wars: Outlaws on YouTube. The short preview provides more insight into the game’s characters, plot, and environments. The game’s release date was also confirmed to be August 30, 2024.

Kay and Nix return in the new trailer, which gives us a few details of the story of the game. Kay is an up-and-coming bounty hunter trying to establish a name for herself; she is given a very personal mission that will test her abilities to the limit. She starts off as a nobody, but will soon rise through the ranks of several criminal organizations. Crimson Dawn gets name-dropped in the trailer, which also shows off a bit of Jabba the Hutt in motion. (The character was confirmed last year to be a part of the game.)

It’s been a while since fans last heard anything about Star Wars: Outlaws. It was originally revealed last year during the Summer Games Fest. Since then, there have been scarcely any new trailers or gameplay, but the developers at Massive Entertainment have provided other new information thanks to a multitude of different interviews. In the meantime, Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment also released Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora to fairly positive reviews and reception.

While initial reports suggested that game development on Star Wars: Outlaws was making strong progress and was targeting an early 2024 release, a financial report from Ubisoft later suggested the game’s release was moved to later within the year.

While there’s still plenty more of the year left, there have already been many Star Wars game announcements and releases. So far, fans have been able to play a Star Wars: Dark Forces remaster and a remaster of the original Star Wars: Battlefront games. However, that last remaster was negatively received across the board due to several issues, chief among them regarding the game’s servers. There are also more Star Wars games on the way including a new Star Wars strategy game from developer Bit Reactor, and the Knights of the Old Republic remake that is reportedly still in development.

Miguel Fernández is a Spanish student that has movies as his second passion in life. His favorite movie of all time is The Lord of the Rings, but he is also a huge Star Wars fan. However, fantasy movies are not his only cup of tea, as movies from Scorsese, Fincher, Kubrick or Hitchcock have been an obsession for him since he started to understand the language of filmmaking. He is that guy who will watch a black and white movie, just because it is in black and white.
