Ming-Na Wen Unsure of When Fennec Shand Will Return to Live-Action

In an interview with ComicBook.com, Ming-Na Wen was asked about when she thinks Fennec Shand would show up again in Star Wars. Her response conveyed a sense of uncertainty. Fennec Shand’s last live-action appearance was in The Book of Boba Fett.

Ming-Na Wen is currently promoting the new documentary Pencil vs. Pixel, which she narrates. But when asked if she knows anything about Fennec Shand’s future, Wen expressed a sense of hopefulness to return, but nothing concrete:

“No, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed. I keep sending out good energy. I miss being her. Now that the strike is over, I think it’s going to be fun and accelerated to try to get every production back online. And I certainly pray and hope that Fennec comes back, but unfortunately, that is … unless I cosplay myself.”

Ming-Na Wen also added to her remarks, saying that a spinoff is also unlikely. While some fans have asked for a continuation of The Book of Boba Fett, nothing has been confirmed on that end:

“Well, I get a lot of fans asking if there could be a spinoff of just vetting. I’m like, why not? I don’t know. Yeah, any reason to just do Star Wars again.”

With the Hollywood strikes just ended, Brendan Wayne recently teased that production for The Mandalorian season 4 is “ramping up.” So it is possible for Ming-Na Wen to still make an appearance. At the moment, however, it doesn’t appear to be planned. Temuera Morrison had teased a meeting with Lucasfilm a few months ago to talk about Boba Fett’s future. Does that mean that Fennec will come hand in hand, or that Wen should have heard about her return by now?

It has been confirmed that Fennec Shand will appear in The Bad Batch season 3, once again voiced by Ming-Na Wen, who had also played the character in the first season of the animated series. Omega actress Michelle Ang did hint that her work on The Bad Batch season 3 was completed back in June, meaning that the series is more than likely on time for its expected 2024 release.
