New ‘Star Wars: Visions’ Comics Coming From Marvel

Marvel and Lucasfilm have announced new Visions stories, beginning with a one-shot comic from Peach Momoko. Coming this November, Star Wars: Visions – Peach Momoko #1 will start a series of original tales from different creators.

StarWars.com revealed the news with a preliminary look at the cover, story information, and some concept art, all written and drawn by Momoko. Check out the cover and brief synopsis below:

From StarWars.com:

Star Wars: Visions – Peach Momoko #1, arriving November 2023, picks up centuries after the death of a major Sith Lord, with a cult called Ankok having grown around the notorious dark side servant. Tata, leader of the cult, believes she is the rightful successor to this Sith Lord. Meanwhile, a girl named Kako and her loyal droid Gel are fated to confront this new evil.

Momoko’s previous Star Wars work includes a story in the recently wrapped Darth Vader: Black, White & Red anthology series and several variant covers – most notably her series for Women’s History Month. She spoke with StarWars.com about her Visions tale and why she wanted to write a story about a dark side cult:

“I wanted to tell a story about a cult. And I felt within the Star Wars universe, the dark side was something that ties to when a human, or something living, loses itself and then wants to rely on believing something in order to have hope to live… I believe falling to the dark side is nothing to be ashamed of. It could save you. Sometimes the dark side can help defeat your trauma and fear. In the story, Ankok’s belief is that the time when light defeats darkness has ended. It is the time to accept the darkness. And Tata is only using the dark side to help those who need a ‘dark light.’”

This will be Marvel’s second foray into Star Wars: Visions comics. The first came with a story following the Ronin last fall. There is no word yet on how many one-shots will come from this latest series of stories or if they will be released monthly beginning in November.

Also still in the works is an original manga from VIZ Media, but there has been no update since its announcement at last year’s New York Comic-Con. Visions Volume 3 is also in development. Star Wars: Visions Volume 2 is currently available to stream on Disney Plus.
