Hot Toys Debuts New Premium Line with Anakin Skywalker

It’s Comic Con time which means that collectors are about to see a lot of new reveals from their favorite lines over the next few days. Sideshow Collectibles aren’t in San Diego this year, but they are hosting their own online Sideshow Con where they are debuting some brand new reveals from Hot Toys including this incredible new sixth scale figure of Anakin Skywalker as he appeared in Revenge of the Sith.

Hot Toys has often been seen as one of the most premium manufactures of Star Wars merchandise, with their popular sixth scale line featuring lifelike figures of characters from across the entire saga. Their original version of Anakin Skywalker from Revenge of the Sith released in 2018 and has long been sold out with many fans hoping that the figure might be re-released for the film’s 20th anniversary in 2025. But the Hong Kong manufacturer had more ambitious plans in mind for the Chosen One.

Yesterday Hot Toys announced that their new Anakin Skywalker figure would headline a brand new premium line for the company showcasing the best they can achieve. In a statement on Facebook they wrote:

Hot Toys is delighted to announce a brand-new series covering works that represents our ambition.

Expect to meet the legendary Star Wars character as our Top-Notch figure shortly.

No further details were offered, but given their promise that this new series will represent their ambition and be their “top-notch figure” it seems safe to assume that is line will sit above their current Movie and TV Masterpiece Series and their previous DX line as their finest work.

The DX line originally introduced the PERS moving eyeball system, allowing collectors to move a figure’s eyes to create more nuanced and realistic expressions when posing. With this feature now becoming standard in most of Hot Toys offerings it appears this new premium line will focus on even more realistic sculpting and painting, along with the implementation of rooted woolen hair to create their most lifelike figures to date.

And just look at the results!

If the final figure looks as incredible as the prototype it will easily be Hot Toys best Star Wars offering to date.

Adam Savage’s Tested YouTube Channel got a quick look at the prototype at Sideshow Con. Whilst the hair may need a little more styling than the display piece received to look like it does in the above pictures, something that is commented on in the video, it’s nice to see the base and robe for the figure that aren’t in the prototype photos from Hot Toys.

The video also gives a look at the rest of Hot Toys’ Sideshow Con reveals, including a sixth scale Dewback and Sandtrooper from A New Hope, a life size Anzellan Droidsmith from The Mandalorian, two new Mandalorian warriors, and updated versions of both The Armorer and R5-D4.

At the moment no further details have been announced for any of the new reveals so we don’t know when new Anakin Skywalker will go on sale or how much he will cost when he does, but we will be sure to let you know as soon as more information is revealed.
