‘Ahsoka’: New Looks at Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera and Details on Ray Stevenson’s Character

The new issue of Empire Magazine, due out on Thursday, included new still pictures from Disney Plus’ Ahsoka. The publication has been slowly revealing a few of them over the past couple of days, including one with a mysterious Inquisitor, but now it seems like some people have gotten their hands on the issue early, as several new images have made their way through the Internet.

Two of them feature Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, which SFFGazzette posted in higher definition (see above and below). In addition, the website also confirmed in a different story that, according to Empire Magazine, Ray Stevenson’s character was a former Jedi Knight. After surviving Order 66 and the Jedi Purge, he became a saber-for-hire, eventually landing on the payroll of some big bads and with an apprentice by his side.

Stevenson himself, who passed away in May, had hinted during the press rounds after the panel that his character has a complicated relationship with Grand Admiral Thrawn, which may lead to interesting dynamics among the bad guys heading into the show. According to SFFGazzette, Stevenson told Empire the following about his character:

“He is not genocidal or malicious or overly aggressive. He will request that you get out of his way. But if you don’t, he will take you out his way.”

Ivanna Sakhno’s Shin Hati is also featured, along with Baylan, in one of the images posted by Empire; that one was first shown to audiences at Star Wars Celebration in London. Check it out here (in lower quality, via r/StarWarsLeaks), along with a behind-the-scenes look at Rosario Dawson and Dave Filoni on set, and Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka in the series (this one comes from Twitter user @MrSebros):

Dave Filoni wrote all eight episodes of Ahsoka and directed two or three of them. The series has yet to announce a specific release date, but it was revealed at Celebration that it is targeting an August debut on Disney Plus.
