‘Ahsoka’ Will Feature an Inquisitor, New Image Revealed

The latest still picture revealed by Empire Magazine from the upcoming Ahsoka series features a very interesting reveal — apparently, the narrative of the series will include at least one Inquisitor. This is especially surprising as we thought they had disappeared for the most part during the Star Wars: Rebels timeline and their purpose after the defeat of the Empire seemed pointless.

The publication wasn’t given any additional context to the image and published it online ahead of the new issue’s release this Thursday as a way to stir up speculation surrounding the show. After being first introduced in Star Wars: Rebels, and having appeared throughout several mediums, including books, comics, video games, novels, and even live-action series, the motivation of the Inquisitors seems clear — they are a weapon used by Vader and the Empire to hunt down any Jedi that survived Order 66. They have crossed paths with many of our favorite characters, from Obi-Wan Kenobi to the Ghost crew or Cal Kestis; Ahsoka too. She fought side by side with Kanan and Ezra at the end of season 2 of Rebels against three Red Blades, and also went against other Inquisitors in the EK Johnston novel as well as an episode of Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi.

But this is the first time we’re seeing an Inquisitor in the New Republic Era, begging the question: What are they doing here? It’s possible that, once again, they are a weapon used by the rising new Empire to take out the surviving Jedi and make their job a lot easier. Maybe they are a rogue agent that survived the Civil War and is still devoted to the cause. Maybe they are an ally to other dark side Force-users from the series Shin Hati (Ivanna Sakhno) and Baylan Skoll (Ray Stevenson), or perhaps even this is Shin Hati herself in a flashback. The fact that Lucasfilm is keeping the helmet on for the image certainly hints that there could be someone known underneath it.

Our questions will be answered by the time Ahsoka debuts on Disney Plus this August.
