‘Star Wars’ Celebration 2023 Guest List Adds Carl Weathers and More

Three new guests have been announced for Star Wars Celebration in Europe, which include Carl Weathers (Greef Karga and director on The Mandalorian), Brian Herring (BB-8 performer), and Samantha Alleyne (stormtrooper in all five Disney Star Wars films). They will be signing autographs and taking pictures with fans; bookings are already available here.

Alleyne is now the second guest to be doing it for free, with a limited amount of tickets for the autograph line made available every day. Weathers joins a long list of Mandalorian personalities, which likely means that the series will have a major presence there in the form of a panel, despite it being in the middle of the season. Obviously, Ahsoka is going to make a splash there, debuting the first trailer for the season and getting a release date, but we could see a do-over on the “Mando+” panel that broke the Internet last year, where they would talk at length about the third season, as well as Ahsoka and likely Skeleton Crew, which will probably show a small teaser for the people in the room.

Letting the speculation run wild for a moment, the convention will take place between episodes 6 and 7 of The Mandalorian season 3 airing on Disney Plus. And interestingly enough, the seventh episode is reportedly co-written by Dave Filoni, which at this point we know is a synonym to Lucasfilm announcing we should expect Clone Wars or Rebels cameos into live-action. With speculation running wild that Natasha Liu Bordizzo could be introduced as Sabine Wren in the new season before she gets the spotlight in Ahsoka, what if they decided to announce this to the world during Celebration, and even screen that episode for the people there? Obviously, this is very dangerous in terms of leaks, which Lucasfilm could also circle around by dropping the episode on Disney Plus immediately afterwards.

Speaking of which, Liu Bordizzo has yet to be announced as a guest, but we know she will definitely be there, we just don’t know if she’ll be signing autographs. Her Ahsoka co-star, Rosario Dawson, has already been confirmed, so it’s only a matter of time. We are also hoping the same is true for Daisy Ridley.

In other Celebration news, an article by The Hollywood Reporter raised a lot of interest last week, when it essentially confirmed we will be getting major film announcements at the convention. For now, besides the Mando+ panel, we’ve been told that we’ll be getting a 40th Anniversary panel for Return of the Jedi, and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is definitely going to have a presence there — Mads Mikkelsen’s announcement as a guest should already act as confirmation of that. The official schedule should be announced within the next few weeks.

Single-day tickets for Star Wars Celebration, which will be returning to the ExCeL Centre in London on April 7-10, are still available here.
