First Clip of ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 3 Shows Carl Weathers Reuniting With Din and Grogu

With only two more weeks to go until The Mandalorian returns for its third season, the first 40-second clip from the new episodes has been revealed online. It features Greef Karga in what seems to be the first time he meets up with Din Djarin since he reunited with Grogu, and includes yet another adorable moment from everyone’s favorite baby.

The clip first surfaced on the Apple App Store, but official Star Wars channels have since posted it on YouTube. Check it out here:

The scene seems to take place right after the Predator-like handshake between Din and Greef Karga that we saw in the trailers. It’s clear that it’s from the first two or three episodes too. According to hearsay (Emily Swallow talking in a since-deleted interview with The Virtual Cantina), Rick Famuyiwa has directed the season premiere and the finale, so he could have potentially captained this scene. Another possibility is Carl Weathers, who we know is directing in season 3, and whose role acting-wise seems to be as limited as it was in previous seasons. Because he probably directed an episode he also starred in, it’s possible that he shot this scene.

Releasing these 40-second clips has become a sort of tradition for promoting the latest Star Wars live-action series on Disney Plus. The Book of Boba Fett also revealed a clip similar to this one featuring Fennec Shand and Boba Fett walking through Mos Espa; Obi-Wan Kenobi released a clip from the first time Obi-Wan and Owen met in the series; and Andor showed on Good Morning America a clip of Cassian arguing with Nurchi, from the first arc of the series.

Eight new episodes of The Mandalorian are coming our way on March 1. Besides Weathers and Famuyiwa, who is also executive producer this time around (and who seems to have filled in for Dave Filoni on set while he was prepping Ahsoka), the list of directors also includes Bryce Dallas Howard, returning from previous seasons, Rachel Morrison (director of photography on Black Panther), Lee Isaac Chung (Oscar-nominated director of Minari), and Peter Ramsey (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse).

Stay tuned for more news coming soon!
