‘Tales of the Jedi’ Records Increase in Viewer Demand Two Months After Release

The release of the new season of The Bad Batch might have inspired people to revisit, or watch for the first time, last fall’s anthology series Tales of the Jedi.

This is according to data from Parrot Analytics published by The Wrap; the story says that in the week of Jan. 7-13 the company recorded an uptick of 5% in online demand for the series with respect to the previous week. This does not necessarily mean that the viewership numbers increased over this period of time, considering that Parrot Analytics gathers data from social media interactions about the series, articles published online about it, and even piracy. However, there is undoubtedly a correlation between online demand and viewership numbers.

According to The Wrap, during this period of time, Tales of the Jedi experienced 13.1 times more demand than the average streaming series. However, this meant the series could not crack the top 10 as reported by the article on the Parrot Analytics website. so we’re going off from what the trade reports on third-party data. The top 10 did include The Mandalorian, the only Disney Plus representative, with 38.3 times more demand than the average streaming series.

The Bad Batch season 2 and the overall return of Star Wars animation are most definitely behind this, with people either gravitating towards the last project they enjoyed in this medium, or rediscovering it after The Bad Batch generated hunger for animated content.

Tales of the Jedi is a six-episode anthology series that was released on October 26 (you can check out Miguel’s review here). It followed the rise and fall of Jedi Master Count Dooku, before he eventually succumbed to the dark side, and Ahsoka Tano, from her birth to post-Order 66 days. A second season has not been announced yet.

The Bad Batch season 2 is currently four episodes in (you can check out Sydney’s review of episode 4 here), out of 16. The Mandalorian season 3 comes out on March 1.
