Solo Stars & Director Get Standing Ovation At Cannes
Solo: A Star Wars Story was just screened at Cannes, and the film reportedly received a four-minute session of applause following its screening. Some new footage shows director Ron Howard, along with stars Alden Ehrenreich, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, and Paul Bettany graciously receiving this applause.
Variety writer Ramin Setoodeh managed to snag footage of the blockbuster film’s warm reception at Cannes (hat tip Heroic Hollywood), with short clips showing the cast and crew participating in and receiving applause:

Solo is the first Star Wars movie to be screened at Cannes since 2005’s Revenge of the Sith, and putting the movie at the film festival was a show of faith from Lucasfilm. From the sound of early reception to the film, Lucasfilm has another winner, and with any luck the acclaim the movie is getting should drown out any concerns about the movie following its troubled production cycle.
