The Star Wars: Rebels buzz has been intensifying the last few days, suggesting an official announcement was coming. Well that’s exactly what we got today from Lucasflim. The final episodes from the final season of Star Wars: Rebels will debut on February 19th, 9:00 p.m. EST on Disney XD. A new trailer for the series also debuted, revealing Palpatine himself, Ian McDiarmid, reprising his role as the Emperor (a rumor we reported back in October 2017). Read on for the details.

From Lucasfilm:

The beginning of the end starts MONDAY, FEB. 19 (9:00 p.m. EST) when the critically-acclaimed animated series “Star Wars Rebels” returns to Disney XD with new episodes as the series nears its grand finale. As teased in a new “Star Wars Rebels” trailer, Emperor Palpatine makes his series debut in these final episodes, voiced by actor Ian McDiarmid who reprises this iconic role from the “Star Wars” live-action films.

New footage starts about 1:20 into the trailer. Everything else is recap before that.

I think the only safe bet on someone dying is Kanan. Everyone else (Hera and Chopper who we know definitely make it out of Rebels alive) I think are off doing something else in the time of the OT, especially Ezra who can’t be doing Jedi stuff or else it just doesn’t fit within the world that the OT established. Unless this is the biggest retcon of all fucking time, which I really hope it isn’t.

even putting the OT aside, i’m not sure how you fit him into the new canon either. that era has been covered so much already with no sign of him.

Also considering he’s fought along side of almost every single notable member of the Rebel Alliance and nobody seems to know who or where they are. It would be a real disservice to these characters that they sacrificed so much the last 4 seasons for them to just walk away from it all.

Ezra and these rebels aren’t worth of Emperors notice, Vader was after them only because Ahsoka
The trailer looks good, but I am not excited by the ,,force conclusion,, of the series, I expected a battle like Atollon as the finale not a force duel between Ezra and Palpatine. Thrawn hopefuly won’t die in this but his role will be limited, also the failuire of the blocade is something legends Thrawn wouldn’t allow

So rebels will capture Pryce? Impossible it is as if Luke kidnapped Tarkin from the Death Star

Their victories doesn’t make logic sense, they are softened to suit for children so that takes some options of the plot, then they try to make it funny, such as the stormtroopers chasing cats in the TIE Defender episode. Do you really think any soldier would leave his post and chase an animal? Hardly.
Next 17 year old girl beats a 60 year old war veteran who had been fighting for his whole live and in addition she is a physic genious designing arc weapons by herself. Sorry but there is no logic in this, these characters I created on purpose and can’t die because they won’t allow it.

I know it is a kids show but simply then they should have made it out of canon. Victories are gained by sacrafices and strategy not soldiers chasing cats.

I would have much more prefered a normal series or battlefront style graphic series for teenagers or adults similar to Rogue One

None of what you said has ruined canon though. I get your issues but as you pointed out it is a show aimed at kids. Also there’s going to be a least one death to come, possibly more. I think that’s a pretty big sacrifice.

There a lot more examples I gave you just two which crossed my mind first. Yes but sacrifices are made through the war and only when it is a season finale. Sometimes there is simply bad luck, great example is the fighter scene in the Last Jedi, Resistense blue leader could have been the best pilot ever but the missile hit the hangar and she died sitting on the ground and she couldn’t change that. There isn’t heroic death for everyone someone is a casualty and someone a hero who dies fighting.

As for the canon, take stormtroopers for instance, in movies they at least hit something here they have the guns for a parade.

With the canon, it is presented that this group formed the rebelion or were the core of it but their victories are not about courage or sacrifies only plot armor, unlogical turns of events and engineered luck. For me heroic act was something Rogue One did but not these rebel ,,victories,,

I think it’s debatable that the stormtroopers could hit anything in the OT. In fact it’s become a bit of an in joke, over time, what bad shots the stormtroopers were so I think rebels has just played up to that. The pilot in TLJ isn’t a good example either. She was a minor character and plenty of minor characters have died in rebels. Commander Sato for example. They’ve never been presented as forming the rebellion or as a core group of rebels either. It’s been mentioned several times that they were just a very small cell of the greater rebellion.

Well on Tantive IV or on Scarif they could shoot allright. Yes the blue leader was a minor characters but a few more seconds and Dameron would have gone with her just because of beign at wrong place in wrong time. Sorry but Commander Sato is single exeption and he wasn’t killed but comitted a suicide, except him all minor characters dying were only Imperials (Titus, Slavin, Saxon and so on)

He said he saw Thrawn’s “defeat, like many arms surrounding [him] in a cold embrace.” It may not necessarily be his death.

Haven’t seen any of this season so far – is it conceivable that the Bendu was referring to Thrawn being murdered by a few of his Noghri? Wasn’t Warwick Davis playing Rukh at some point this year?

The Bendu’s wording is vague enough to give some leeway (intentionally, I would assume).

Rukh actually was in a couple of episodes this season but I honestly can’t tell if they’re following his and Thrawn’s EU story through.

In TCW Filoni said than when he brought back Darth Sidius for the Mandalore Act someone had to die because his presence isn’t requested easily and when he arrives he deals with anyone.
Next I totally don’t get how Ezra can fight Emperor when noone knows Emperor is force sensitive, anyone who discovered had been killed. And if nonforce sensitive Emperor arrived to Lothal then he would have a second flotilla of ISD on stanby to support Thrawn there for thats more than 100 000 Stormtroopers they could deploy.
I expected Vader to return for the finale not the Emperor.

As for the battle of Lothal I don’t know, the rebel military airstrike failed but suddenly they got reinforcements on the ground and capture Pryce, thats weird. Also I don’t like the idea that the rebels are being helped by weird wormhole traveling wolves there is too much filoni fantasy in this.

I don’t really think this will happen, but it’s fun to speculate… What if Ezra, Kanan, & Ahsoka end up going to Mortis and replace the force family? Kanan is a champion of the light and Ezra has always had a little darkness in him (which could be further drawn out by the emperor this season). Ahsoka could serve the role of the father (mother) balancing the two.
