The Last Jedi: Rian Johnson Q&A Twitter Event

The Last Jedi is a little over two weeks away, and writer/director Rian Johnson has taken over the official Star Wars Twitter account to answer fan questions, each via a short video! We have compiled them all here for you to check out!

As you might have guessed, nothing major was revealed here, as the director answered more lighthearted and fun questions.

Since he took on the daunting task of writing and directing a Star Wars movie, Rian Johnson has always maintained a strong connection with the fans. From showing up to the lines at Star Wars Celebration to greet fans waiting overnight, to interacting with them on Twitter over the last two years, and now answering fan questions from the official Star Wars Twitter account.

Johnson, a Star Wars fan himself growing up, fully understands how much Star Wars means to fans around the world, and he has maintained that relationship and connectivity throughout the process from the beginning. Yet another reason we were happy to find out he has been handed the keys to create another trilogy for the franchise!

Hope the “fun” in here will not be like the silly (to be polite) “fun” of the majority of actual blockbusters. SW doesn’t need that. I like a good balance and no overacting. JJ and Kasdan did a great job with this. Probably if it’s too much fun it will not be the dark film we are expecting. I can’t wait to see the result!

To be honest, that was exactly what I found wrong with The Force Awakens. Filmmakers set out to make the film fun but didn’t advance the story forward as much as many fans would have hoped.

TFA was a good film, with few flaws, but the depth it needed could of be dealt with by exploring those motivations and intentions a little and not making it such a ‘fun-ride’ for nostalgia.

Hoping the TLJ does really well and isn’t afraid to tell its own story.

That wasn’t very long 🙁 I didn’t get my chance to ask him about R2s role in this one. After all R2D2 is the main hero of Star Wars and he was only in the last one for something like 2 minutes AND he didn’t get to say anything.

I love the progression of the droids and porgs in these clips.

No one asks him anything about the mysterious new trilogy, but they ask questions about seat belts, pie, emojis and misspelling his name. Or else he purposely avoided answering any.
