Paul Bettany Has Wrapped Filming for the Han Solo film

It seems like the only marketing/publicity done for the Han Solo standalone film has come from the social media accounts of its director Ron Howard. Well he’s at it again, this time posting a photo with Paul Bettany confirming the actor has wrapped his newly added character’s scenes for the film.

On Force Friday (September 1st) Howard tweeted out a photo of him with Paul Bettany, the first reveal that Bettany had joined the Han Solo film:

Now a little over two weeks later Howard has once again tweeted about Bettany, this time announcing that the actor had finished his scenes, which if Howard’s tweets are any accurate measure of a timeline, would mean Bettany was in the Outer Rim for roughly two to three weeks.

Several media outlets reported different takes on the character Bettany would play. Some asserted he was there to replace Michael K. Williams, while others seemed to suggest he was a new character added after Ron Howard took over.

Either way, I think we can all agree seeing these tweets from Ron Howard of actors wrapping their parts is a welcome site for a film that at this point feels like it has been in production for a decade.

The untitled Han Solo film is still scheduled for release on May 25, 2018. Although there have been rumors, and even a push by some to reschedule it to December, it is currently still slated for its initial release date. We’ll always keep you updated as news rolls in on the upcoming film about everyone’s favorite scoundrel!

Is there any significance to the small creature in the bell jar next to them? A hint of the character he played? Just wondering…

The room looks like it could be the room of someone who collects things. Could Han be hired by someone to smuggle something for this character.

It’s the same set from the leaked TMZ pix from a few months ago. Han, Chewie, Woody and possibly Emilia Clark’s character were in them. It had the tree growing from the ceiling and the Ewoks in the glass cases.

Sorry, no. I’m skeptical about JJ returning, but not enough to support firing him – even if I thought such a petition had a chance, which I don’t…

If you hate JJ so much – don’t watch the movie. It’s that simple.

I think you should be more worried about The Last Jedi with all the Porgs running around. Ahh im not worried about them, they’re cute and such, but will only have a minor role in the movie. And Im not worried about episode IX either. JJ Abrams created characters which we as the audience actually cared about, for the first time since the original trilogy.

I’m a little worried but less so than I was with Colin. Honestly it all depends on TLJ anyway! I mean Rian’s really gotta give us a compelling reason to want to see the end! If he knocks it out of the park I don’t envy JJ.

Please I cared for prequel Obi Wan just as much as I did the sequel characters.

The prequel characters were flat and boring. Anakin was a jerk. Padme was a lifeless plank of wood. Compared to Han, Luke and Leia there was nothing endearing about them at all.

It felt like all of them were empty shells never given a chance to really be anything. Almost disconnected to the events around them. I still contend Liam did the best with the little he was given. Him and Ian McDiarmid.

This is so ridiculous. JJ won’t be directing or telling a story that Lucasfilm and Kathleen Kennedy haven’t signed off on.

If JJ was bad at actual “directing” you may have a slight point, but the fact is, he directs with great visual flair and dynamism, even if you have overall issues with his movies.

He’s not a bad director, although his style is too fast for Star Wars imo. TFA felt really rushed sometimes…

That’s a fair point. I actually think that may make him the right director for EP9 as they may want to end this new sequel series on an action heavy, great crescendo ala ROTJ.

There’s nothing we can do about Jar Jar. He’s here to stay to deliver another unimaginative and painfully mediocre action flick.
We can only hope that TLJ is good, so we can have at least one good movie from the ST.

I will sign your petition. But I’am aware that we can not do much.

I was beyond disappointed with the news that Abrams will be director of another SW movie. TFA was my least favorite star wars. I like new original ideas, designs, stories. But Abrams is only good in recycling and copying. Soo I’am sad right now.

I just do not want another remake, a want new and original Star Wars story.

Rey is from Earth and they break the fourth wall by having George Lucas portray the embodiment of the living force who created the whole galaxy.

Actually, having a physical being embody the Force (like the Whills,) would be a neat twist and would better portray the intentions of the Force.

“The Will of the Force” is stupid. It’s a stupid notion that completely betrays what was set up in the original films. The Force just…IS. It is an essential part of all living things. There is a dark and a light path, neither one being stronger or inherently better than the other, but it is up to the individual to choose which they will follow – the quick and easy, but ultimately self-destructive one, or the hard one that requires personal sacrifice in the pursuit of doing what is morally right.

That was the whole point of Anakin Skywalker and fulfilling the prophecy, which Luke Skywalker was also a part of.

Totally agree – the force should be beyond total understanding, so isn’t just IS, but instead a living THING. It attempts to balance itself, hence Anakin being born on the force. Now if Anakin is actually a creation from Plagueis’s manipulation of the force, as suggested by Lucas, it is still the force working through Anakin that brings balance.

Except that Palpatine pretty heavily implies that Anakin was the result of either Plagueis or his own manipulation of the Force.

One of the issues directors seemed to have had with the SW universe is that it is so conservative in terms of its narrative and visual language. It pretty much rules out any of the above. It just isn’t “star wars” (nor is it something I can see RJ coming up with)
