Star Wars Battlefront II Gets A Story Mode Featurette.

Iden Versio Battlefront II

Electronic Arts/DICE, in conjunction with PlayStation, have released a new featurette discussing what the story mode for Battlefront II is going to be like, and how it will differ from previous canon Star Wars narratives. Details on Inferno Squad and Iden Versio are also revealed.

As a campaign mode was sorely missed in the original Battlefront, it’s been welcomed with open arms in the sequel. In general, the next chapter in the Battlefront series looks to correct the issues fans had with the original game and greatly increase the amount of content while remaining true to the Star Wars experience. Battlefront II hits the shelves on November 17.

I’m looking more forward to this BF because of the story mode.

Me too. They seemed to have listened to the fans.

Yeah, John Boyega being one of them. I remember, on Twitter, he said something about wishing a story mode being a part of BF 2.

I gotta be honest though. Most of my game time was local multiplayer with my wife. I wish all modes and maps found online could be played with bots.

Really glad to hear that Dice really heard our complaints, in order to give us a new BF that I think is going to blow the previous out of the water.

I hope Mygeeto is in the game

Long as it looks nothing like Hoth. It’s one of the few planets that we never got to see in TCW from the PT and it’s very unexplored in the EU outside of novels so I agree

      Yes, Mygeeto is awesome.

I’ll stay cautiously optimistic. 3 studios involved. DICE, Motive and Criterion. One of them solely doing vehicles controls… That might just give them enough man power to give us a fully fleshed out game is such a limited time.

Improved vehicle controls and story are the top 2 things that have me excited about this.

Vehicle controls in the Rogue Squadron series were amazingly intuitive.

For space flight, I prefer something closer to TIE Fighter’s vehicle controls, but Rogue Squadron’s are well suited to atmospheric flight.

It’s not as limited as you would believe. This is more-or-less the Battlefront we should have gotten. They didn’t throw the baby out with the bathwater…the codebase is largely the same with new content and reworked character progression.

Lots of words, not much information.
All I’m interested in is – will it be worth getting for the single player alone.

Bluntly, no. Battlefront will always be primarily a multiplayer experience. Look at Titanfall 2, which most critics felt was one of the best single-player campaign in an online shooter for years. Even then, it basically amounted to an extended tutorial with a lot of platforming. It was just long enough to make you care, and then it was over.

This is staggeringly wrong. There is no reason to think that it won’t have a good single player campaign.

And Titanfall 2’s campaign was a terrific, innovative and fun experience, hardly an extended tutorial.

As long as they can keep the EA suits from walking in and saying “how can we sell this in pieces and make more money”

Releasing awfully close to Destiny and after Destiny. Not the best strategy.

Believe it or not, another online shooter can coexist with Destiny.

But seriously, it comes out to ride the wave of Last Jedi publicity, giving the game much more visibility for a lot less money. Same reason we got a rushed Battlefront I (TFA marketing).

It also caters to more casual players, and has a built-in audience.

Yeah, I know the Destiny fanbase is pretty big. However, I believe the Star Wars fanbase who are still willing to give EA BF 2 a chance is larger.

Destiny has 30 million players, according to Activision. BF 2 has nothing to worry about, but that fanbase in games is pretty huge.

While this is cool. I personally long for a next gen space combat game on par with Factor 5’s Rogue Squadron series. Those games were awesome with stunning graphics on the GameCube. Imagine what could achieved today!
