They’ve been shooting for a few weeks. They showed a clip at Celebration. They could totally show one this weekend. X-men Apoc and Suicide Squad showed clips at comic con after only filming a few weeks. I think X-men was only 10 days in.

You know, Goofy was always my favorite Disney character… but I think Lucas just ruined him for me. Even after he’s out of the Star Wars picture, he still somehow manages to find new ways to irritate me (lol)

The fact that Goofy was your favorite character sums it up quite nicely… and you’re offended by Jar Jar??? lol (Maybe it’s time to move on, George obviously has)

Whenever Bob Iger talks about Star Wars, I get the impression that he wants to pretend like Disney created Star Wars. Stupid, greedy tycoon.

I don’t get that impression at all.

He knows George invented Star Wars and he knows that Lucas and Disney have had close dealings from the very beginning.

Where does this negative impression come from?

Probaby the perception that Disney will show Lucas how to do Star Wars right, at least compared to the Prequels.

Yeah, they’ll show the guy who created it how to do it right.

          That’s rich.

Maybe he should have said “Disney will show Lucas how to do Star Wars WELL, at least compared to the Prequels.” 😉

Well deserved and thank you George. I didn’t care for the prequels at all and indeed most everything George has been involved with in the last 15 years or so, BUT I will never forget that he is the one that started it all. For that I will always be grateful…

George IS Anakin when you think about it. He started off ahead of his time and was a cinematic hero to an entire generation then power, greed, and his corporate bootlickers corrupted him and he became the entertainment equivalent of Darth Vader turning his back on the ideals he founded his career on like not tampering with his own original works or appealing to the lowest common denominator with the Prequels. Seems like a nice guy in all other areas but he’s really done a 180 in the last 20 years far as his career goes. What happened to all those independent films we were promised after he was done with Star Wars? Instead he kept milking Star Wars and Indy to death. Being a billionaire, It’s not like he didn’t have the time or money to make those smaller films. Very hypocritical as was selling out to Di$ney when he said it would always be his thing.

Yeah, he’s a real Darth Vader.

A Dark Lord that gave all the money he made from the Star Wars deal to charity.

I have a lot ( Huge ) of respect for Mr Lucas. Without him there would be NO Star Wars.

P.S and for the record I love all 6 Star Wars movies he made. The OT just a hair more then the new ones.

So so tired of the hate spewed toward George Lucas from supposed fans. If you’re a movie fan, chances are pretty good you’re not going to love every single movie a director does. You may LOVE Francis Ford Coppola, but Godfather III paled in comparison to the first two epics. You may LOVE Alfred Hitchcock, but Family Plot is no Vertigo or Psycho. Some viewers prefer the Star Wars OT to the prequels, and vice versa, and that’s OK! So enough with the haters comments aimed at George; he created a fascinating universe we still care about decades later and he deserves that respect. He is a Legend and I’m glad that Disney honored him this weekend.

Lifetime pass for the original Star Wars

    • August 15, 2015 at 10:48 pm

I wish I could agree with that, but his pass is revoked because he also took it away saying:

“The special edition, that’s the one I wanted out there. The other movie, it’s on VHS, if anybody wants it. … I’m not going to spend the, we’re talking millions of dollars here, the money and the time to refurbish that, because to me, it doesn’t really exist anymore. It’s like this is the movie I wanted it to be, and I’m sorry you saw half a completed film and fell in love with it. “

Huh. Jar Jar envisioned as a Star Wars Goofey. I can totally see that.

You know, I think that could possibly have been pulled off. But it would have required a very talented comedian, suited to physical comedy. The only ones that come to mind, for me, were too old: Don Knots and John Cleese. The go-to guy back then was Jim Carey. But he doesn’t strike me as the right fit, vocally.

It’s too bad that performance capture as an art form wasn’t invented, yet. But that was kind of the point. Lucas pioneered it.
