Star Wars: The Clone Wars May Leave Netflix on March 7.

Here’s a bit of a shocker: all six seasons from the fan-favorite cartoon Star Wars: The Clone Wars could be leaving Netflix this time next month. There’s a chance that they might stay (more on that in a moment), but right now is the absolute best time to binge-watch the show.

From ComicBook.com:

Bad news hit the internet for Star Wars: The Clone Wars fans, as Netflix’s listing for the series on mobile shows an end in sight. Currently, the listing for the show says it’s “Available Until 03/07/2017,” meaning the full six seasons of the celebrated animated series would come off the streaming service that day. Fans can stream every episode of the show commercial free, including the sixth season that was first released on Netflix.

It’s not time to panic just yet, though. Netflix often puts the end of a contract date up as the “Available Until” date, even while a new contract is set to start that same day. Also, the film that kicked off Star Wars: The Clone Wars has no end date listed on mobile or main site, and it would seem odd for that movie, technically the first three episodes of the series before George Lucas decided to break it off, to stick around while the series went away. Finally, as noted above, the sixth season of the series, while now available on blu-ray, debuted on Netflix. It was a near unprecedented thing at the time, for a series to see work that was originally completed for another network show up on a streaming service that way. That means Disney/Lucasfilm and Netflix have a great relationship (and that’s excepting the fact that Disney also has a broader distribution deal with Netflix, and that Marvel works with Netflix on regular original content. Phew).

CB also stated that reached out to Lucasfilm for a statement on the situation. For now, however, I’d heavily advise anyone interested in watching the series to do so now, just in case.

Rebels is more like a sequel to TCW, than a substitution.

And having consumed TCW ahead of time makes Rebels a far richer experience, given the TCW characters who’ve turned up like Captain Rex, Ahsoka, Fenn Rau, etc., as well as locations like Dathomir…

Uh… maybe… but I personally gladly rewatch TCW from time to time

Yeah, I guess I’ll be going down that road soon enough. My kids love Clone Wars and would rather watch it than the films.

I’d like to see them do a new set with the theatrical film and Lost Missions.

I am from Europe and I haven’t had Clone Wars on Netflix to begin with, including plethora of other US TV shows, so it doesn’t hurt me at all… The information that it was there, but unavailable for me as a subscriber because of copyright and such, hurts me more.

And this, ladies & gents, is why we have file-sharing…no reason something transmitted so long ago shouldn’t be freely consumed by whomever chooses to do so…

I hope this isn’t really happening. Netflix also needs to add Rebels. XD took down seasons 1 and 2. Where does one get a space whale fix without the show being online!?

Just the other day Legend of Korra and Avatar The Lais Airbender got out of Netflix. It’s frustrating to see these great shows going away.
