Force Friday Event for ‘The Last Jedi’ Coming September 1?

The guys from JediBibliothek are reporting that, according to one of their sources, this year’s Star Wars toy event known as Force Friday will happen on September 1.

For those who are not familiar, Force Friday is a Star Wars merchandising event when the toys for the next upcoming Star Wars movie officially go on sale.

The first Force Friday event for The Force Awakens was held on September 4, 2015. The same event but for Rogue One happened on September 30, 2016.

As always with the toys we will also get some new novel releases, which will further expand the new Star Wars canon.

“For those who are not familiar, Force Friday is a Star Wars merchandising event when Nerf guns masquerading as toys for the next upcoming Star Wars movie “officially” go on sale, yet are nowhere to be found, either because Hasblow screwed the pooch on distribution, or because retailers said ‘screw this noise’ and put it all out weeks prior.”

Where the 19348974019283741-0293847 variant of Darth Vader comes with a SUPER AWESOME MISSILE LAUNCHER. Because a light saber isn’t good enough apparently.

Hopefully it’s better than it was for Rogue One, because that one was really disappointing.

Speaking personally? The figures were mostly boring, the vehicles were undersized, under-featured, and over-priced (HAHAHAHAHA! That walker! That WALKER!!!), and retailers almost universally broke the street date weeks prior. By the time the ‘event’ occurred it was all very ho-hum I found.

Slightly off-topic, but could we also get a Celebration countdown timer on this site by the Movie timer? Perhaps just from Jan 1st till Celebration, because that is a huge event that keeps us sane with trailers and footage till the actual movies drop in December lol

The most exciting part of this for me is that for the past 2 films fantasy flight has released new x-wing and armada releases to conincide with the films around force Friday. More tactical starship love for me to throw money at 🙂
Hopefully there will be one or two designs that feel fresh beyond “hey we put a red stripe on a tie-fighter and took half the engine off an x-wing” lol. Classic ships are awesome, but I always loved that Lucas managed to slip one new tie or rebel ship design into each of the OT.
