I quite liked this one. The re-canonization of Legends material is always welcome, and it was satisfyingly action-packed. my only problem is that Julie Dolan’s voice work was, at some points, absolutely horrendous. Maybe it was the way they were cut together in editing, but it seemed like her readings just had no emotion, like she had no interest in what was going on whatsoever. The writing of the character, however, was very funny. Overall, it’s a solid start to the second half of the season.

On the contrary, I think it was very well done, I liked she really sounds as Leia. So natural and believable I think, just my opinion.

actually…. one blew up when they brought in the B-wings, the other I’m pretty sure that was destroyed when they met the interdictor…. but I’m not sure of the last one.
      Rebels are really desperate.

Good man! I haven’t been using it because I got Disney XD now, but you saved my life all last season.

For some reason they don’t have Time Warner Cable on the Watch Disney XD app. I’m still a little stumped on that one.

Nice start to the second half. We all are excited, for sure, after seeing that mid-season trailer!

It was good. I like that they’re getting the fleet more ships. I was afraid they’re making leia gesture during the whole episode with that “get your helmets back on and keep your mouth shut” kind of gesture, but luckily that was the only scene involving that. Leia was really well animated, I want to see her in future episodes. Bail Organa seems to not fully understand the needs of the rebels.

A great episode! They handled younger Leia very well. There’s just one continuity thing I am wondering about: Doesn’t Leia personally knowing some Jedi prior to Luke somehow change her views in the OT? Nothing specific, but I always presumed she didn’t know any. But again, Bail would probably tell her stories about Jedi and she knew about Obi-Wan, so it doesn’t change much.. What do you think?

And admit you always needed to see a lightsaber wielding stormtrooper take down a walker!

so if a lightsaber can cut through AT-AT’s legs why did Luke bothered with thermal detonator in ESB?

why do they do these things? cannot understand, duh…

Kanan drew on the power of the Force to jump up to the leg and cut it. Luke had never used such power by this point in ESB, and the foot is all he could reach. In one of the comics, Luke flies by a walker leg in a speeder and slashes at the leg (this was before ESB). I guess on Hoth, the detonator strategy made the most tactical sense to him at the time. 🙂

I can take this explanation but its unfortunate that the show makes fans ask these sorts of questions in a first place… from the day one SW:Rebels has been undermining some of the most integral concepts of OT

I enjoy the show for what it is and for what it isn’t. Everyone is clamoring for the TV show to have an impact on the movies in some way but that’s never going to happen. Yes there is a story group that makes sure that things aren’t contractdicted (whether or not they have been very successful is up for debate) but much like Agents of Shield and the Marvel universe, though they are connected nothing the show does impacts the MCU at all. These are nice side stories, and there are some interesting characters and stuff that is being teased, but nothing that is happening on Rebels now has any consequence in the films now or in the future. The movies will have an impact on the show, not the other way around. I bet you characters from Rogue One will show up on Rebels but not until after the movie comes out. The Star Wars films are a self contained universe and they aren’t going to bank a 200 million dollar film having characters in there that the general audience won’t know about unless they watching a show on Disney XD. It’s a great show for Star Wars fans and I love it, but everyone wanting everything to connect to movies just isn’t going to happen. People need to adjust their expectations on the show going forward.

I agree. I think it works in the reverse, that is that the movies influence the show. For ex. – Now that TFA has come out, you see Ezra holding a crossguard saber, further tying the show to the collective universe. But aside from tech, aliens, and droids from the show possibly popping up in the background on future films, I don’t think Rebels will ever directly impact what we see on the big screen. I think instead, the show will work to tie stories and characters that are currently in the Legends continuity into the central canon. Expect Rebels to call back on anything and everything moving forward, but don’t expect it to impact the future films in any meaningful way.

I agree that there is some hierarchy in the canon materials, like films>shows>books&comic, where no story will rely on a lower category than itself to explain something. Which makes complete sense, people shouldn’t have to read a book to understand a film. Which is why there will definitely not be a major revelations for the saga, like Snoke’s identity, in Rebels (how can anyone seriously believe that?!)
The concept Lucasfilm is using now seems like this: The films move the major Story and historical events, the shows provide conective tissue, context and world building and the books and comic bring some bonus tidbits or unrelated stories.

Anyway, the Story group is really trying to bind things together.. and I see a big opportunity in Rogue One being basically paralel to Rebels. So I believe it’s possible for them to introduce a Rogue One character in Rebels even before Rogue One. It would just need to be in a way that’s not necessary to see it to understand Rogue One

Enjoyed the episode! Great action and cool bonding between Leia and the cast. It’s always awesome to see AT-AT’s in action.

Cutting through the ATAT legs was just sigh-inducing. Compare that to how long it took Qui-gon to cut through metal doors. Sabers may be able to cut through most anything, but they require adequate force, power, and time to melt objects of certain thicknesses.

Same goes for deflecting turbolaser blasts (seen in past episodes with ATATs) – the recoil from such an act should throw the saber wielder backwards, not just bounce off like a mirror.

I think Han in this would be possible if Ford’s price tag wasn’t so much and he was not opposed to doing an animated show which he probably is. Maybe they can get the Infinity voice actor? Long as he does a better job than Leia. There’s no reason we should see Luke though except maybe in the last episode in the last scene as a bookend.

Maybe Vader’s “you weren’t on any mercy mission this time” comment in ANH was referring to this very adventure…
