I feel like Leia knowing about Kanan and Ezra being jedi is a death sentence for the two. Why would she not call on them for help in Episode 4 instead of an older (tho more experienced Ben Kenobi)

Exactly. They have to keep continuity, which means they must both die.

or she just/ the rebels think they are dead or they are on a mission elsewhere during the OT. I think there are options. Canonically they really only need to be dead by TFA.

          But what about TESB
          “There is another”

Not three/four others. Besides, wouldn’t she at least TRY to contact Kanan and Ezra? They were (unless they died) just as likely to come to her aid as Hermit Kenobi was.

The only way that she would know that is if she knew where they were. And if she knew where they were, then they would at least be one “hope” for her. Why do you have to make excuses?

I think that Kanan and Ahsoka will both meet tragic ends and Ezra will abandon the Jedi path. He may even be a Rebel agent or something, like Kyle Katarn, during the galactic civil war, but I don’t think he necessarily has to die. Leia could have even attempted to contact him and he refused to help. Or, maybe during the OT he is undercover in the Empire or something, unable to break away from his current duties, therefore, Obi-Wan is the only hope in getting the plans to Alderaan in ANH. You have to also remember that Bail knew of Yoda’s existence as well. But for whatever reason, Kenobi was the one he went after for help, rather than Yoda. Distance wasn’t much of a factor either seeing as how Tatooine and Dagobah were both about the same distance from Alderaan. However, it may just be that Leia was closer to Obi-Wan’s location when she first intercepted the transmissions concerning the Death Star plans. Regardless, my point is that Ezra could very well be alive and well and even being utilized by the Rebellion elsewhere in a non-Jedi capacity. He is not requireed to have made an appearance in the OT to validate his existence during this time.

I’m pretty sure Ezra, Kanan, and Ahsoka are done for..but one thing that is bugging the crap out of me is the inquisitors..how the FUCK are they going to explain their sudden absence from the OT?

Maybe by A New Hope, the Empire is so confident they’ve finally killed all surviving Jedi, that the Inquisitorius is shut down?

Having Jedi in Rebels at all puts me off of the show. It’s messing up canon, and ruining how I’ve always looked at the Original Trilogy. The only way I’ll be happy with this show is if they kill off both Ezra and Kanan in the next few episodes.

I’m not sure about you, but I pick up on the details that the films talk about. Luke should be the ONLY Jedi alive, other than Yoda, during The Empire Strikes Back. Ahsoka, Kanan and Ezra HAVE to die. I’m glad that you like this show, but I will never be able to enjoy it until these issues are corrected.

Dude.. you have to consider at that time they had NO idea that Star Wars would be as big as it is now, and almost an alternate universe for some fans. They have to expand this universe they never thought would go past Return of the Jedi. We have to cut them some slack and not take every line from OT so seriously. They HAVE to change the direction if they continue to make movies. It was never meant to be as big as it is now.

Nothing in a film is done without a purpose. All of those lines need to be taken into account, especially such big ones like in the scene with Yoda and Obi-Wan’s ghost. They’ve been going in a great direction with the new films, but the TV Show is really disappointing to me.

You know, if you really think about it, there is an open-ended nature to the OT where various things stated in the OT can be opened for interpretation. I don’t think one should be taken everything stated in the OT as ironclad literal so perhaps it’s best to keep an open mind about things and a lot for saga evolution to occur.

Kenobi said it himself, most of the truths you know are a certain point of view. From Kenobi’s point of view, yes, he saw himself and Yoda as the last of the jedi. Kanaan wasn’t a full jedi at the time of order 66, Ashoka and Ezra aren’t full jedi. so from that point of view.. they are the last of the jedi.

Dude…of course we all notice those things. Like someone else said…just because Luke is the last Jedi by the time Yoda dies, doesn’t mean that years earlier before Ep IV, there weren’t a few other Jedi left. There was Obi-Wan…and Yoda…so why not a few others here and there? Of course they will have too die before Ep V…but this is pre Ep IV. Relax.

The whole concept of Jedi being around post-Order 66 just doesn’t fit with the Lucas vision I’m used to. It all fits in canon, but not with the general idea of the Saga.

Again….Obi-Wan……Yoda….BOTH Jedi….both around for DECADES after Order 66. It’s silly to think a few other stragglers didn’t also escape Vader’s grip for some years.

I don’t think you understand the “Lucas Vision” that I’M referring to at all. His “vision” was to create a Jedi Order purged by Darth Vader and the Empire, leaving ONLY Yoda, Obi-Wan, and two Force-sensitive children. This of course changed in TCW where they introduced the idea that Jedi travel around the galaxy collecting Force-sensitive kids. My biggest problem with Rebels right now is all of the tie-ins they are introducing. Having them meet Artoo and Threepio, Bail Organa, Princess Leia, Ahsoka, Captain Rex… all of it seems way too far-fetched.

Lucas wanted to put a 10-year-old Han Solo into RotS for a cameo on Kashyyyk. No that didn’t end up happening but at one point he wanted it to. That’s way more far-fetched than the Rebe’s crew meeting most of the people you mentioned.

“LUCAS VISION” also included a padawan for Anakin Skywalker being retconned into the space between Episodes II and III, a padawan that George Lucas himself created and told Dave Filoni to make it work. And IMO it absolutely did. So maybe just trust that everyone making Rebels has a plan for these characters to NOT contradict the whole OT.

I don’t see how having Jedi contradicts the canon, old or new. Clearly it must have taken Vader years to hunt down and exterminate all of the Jedi scattered across the galaxy. This takes place before Ep.IV and technically speaking only by Ep. VI Yoda reveals to Luke that they are the last of the order. Vader’s hunt could have easily overlapped with the Ep. V timeline.

In The Empire Strikes Back Obi-Wan tells Yoda; “That boy is our last hope”, to which Yoda responds; “No. There is another.”. It has been made very clear that this was referring to Leia. Luke is the last Jedi by the time Return of the Jedi rolls around. Simple as that.

I agree, but they don’t need to die in the next few episodes. More than likely they will die, they would have to. Keep in mind this show is years before ANH and ESB, 4-5 years about. Nothing is getting messed up.

My perfect ending to the series while keeping it “kid friendly” would be them going to Alderaan for a meeting with other Rebels. We know what happened to Alderaan by the time of ANH.

It technically doesn’t conflict with canon, but purely out of respect of the OT, and what has been established in our minds as the truth, they should at least be taken out before ANH.

I hate to be rude….but I am actually getting sick and tired of whiners like this who always seem to have something f&^%*ng ignorant to say…. these are not “guest star” visits…if anyone are the “guest stars”…. it is the Ghost crew. Of course they are going to show Leia…I would actually be pissed if she wasn’t featured…considering she is part of the rebel alliance, and a traitor to the Empire…as well as the daughter of the leader of the alliance..she is not making a damn guest appearance friggin cameo…she IS part of the story…she is part of the Empire and an Imperial at this point in the story, and I think it is awesome that they are finally showing it. Crybabies like you are not the Star Wars fan you think you are, because you obviously don’t know shit about it….we do not need overloaded with New characters for this time period, considering it is so close to Episode IV. We already have too many new characters in my opinion…you overload this damn show with too many new characters and it will be confusing..considering none of these people are in the OT..this whole ” small universe syndrome” you morons keep throwing out there cracks me up…this show is a continuation to the Skywalker saga…the PT-OT-ST….you can cry about the small universe syndrome with these stupid Anthology films.I would agree with you all in that sense. They need to stay away from those characters and that time period and should have made an Old Republic movie…who cares about how they retreaved the damn Death Star Plans, and hell…they could have covered that story in two or three episodes of Rebels…….and having a Han Solo movie is the dumbest idea Lucasfilm has had to date….but don’t try to play that card when you are referring to this show…you cant really expand too much..otherwise it wont even make sense or match up with the OT.

I’m not even going to read the rest of your comment, it already starts going way too far from… your second sentence, and onwards. You call me “ignorant” and a “whiner”, even though you know nothing about me, and you’re just judging by one comment? What is this hypocritical, ignorant nonsense? Do you always jump at people with these kind of assumptions? I’ve done almost nothing but praise nearly all of the new Star Wars content, including Rebels, ever since its first episode. Dave Filoni himself has even said that he wanted to avoid the “small universe syndrome”. There truly is no need to attack somebody you don’t know, especially in such a manner, and I suggest you take anger management classes (if this is a common thing for you), because you’re raging at me as if I’ve shot down one of your relatives or something. Calm the heck down, who do you think you are?

On another note, I never said anything about the inclusion of Leia, other than “Cool”. All I said was that I was hoping for them to cut down on all the famous character appearances, next thing you know they’ll be throwing in Han Solo.

Fact is Fitzgerald was right. Read his entire comment and put your feelings to the side so you can pick the facts from his statement. If people could put aside their pride and at least listen even when it doesn’t seem like the other is, the world would be a better place (in some regard).
Leia is a part of the rebellion. Not showing her would be equivalent to making a film about the civil rights movement and not including Martin Luther King. It’s a no brainer. She’s famous, but also an integral part of the story, and if this series is meant to bridge the gap between RotS and ANH or go up to at least Rogue One she needs to make an appearance at least once. Han Solo has no reason to be present in this series because he didn’t get involved with the alliance until ANH. The only way I’d see him being tied in is if they need a smuggler for something and it already appears that they’ll be doing that in Rogue One so there’s no need to do that here.

Fact is, he wasn’t right in responding to me in such a manner. What I said was, “Cool, I just hope they’ll make this one of the last character “guest star visits””, which is nothing like “Argh why did they put Leia in this?!”, to which I responded quite positively. Really man, if you “hate to be rude” you could have made the same point without coming off as a complete asshole. I actually agree with some of your points, however I also understand why some people are taking issue. He didn’t pinpoint Leia as the problem, he actually said it was cool. I agree Leia fits in to this perfectly, but the people complaining about it are also referring to characters like Lando. His inclusion was 100% fan service…

I disagree with you on the Rogue One movie though, I think that can make for a great story with new characters, if done properly. The Han Solo film confuses me a bit, since I thought the point of the Anthology films was to tell stories outside of the characters we already know and love. So while yes, I’d much rather have an Old Republic story, or my personal favorite, a Darth Bane story, we’ll have to take what they give us for now.

My personal theory on why they went with a Han Solo movie is that they want to start with something both the hardcore and casual fan base is familiar with to break us into the concept of these Anthology films. Give it a few years and I bet you the stories will branch out to less known topics/characters

But seriously man, take some xanax and relax a bit. You went off on the guy and called him ignorant, why? Because you disagree with how he feels about a cartoon. I understand its Star Wars, I love it too, but seriously if you hate to be rude…..then don’t be, its that simple.

This is one of the few that actually make perfect sense, though. Leia was basically second in command in the Alliance in ANH, so she should show up a lot in a series about the early Alliance.

A lot of people are commenting on how she looks so much older than Ezra, but I think their interaction on the show will highlight that they are the same age in some way. Sabine also seems a lot more mature than Ezra at times. This is a boy/girl maturity thing that is common in real life so I don’t see much of a discrepancy, especially given Leia’s upbringing. She was brought up as a princess and is being groomed for a position on the Senate. She is probably over compensating to give off that regal, I don’t have time for bs vibe. But I’m betting there will be a couple of more lighthearted moments in the episode that will bring out her youth. I’d almost guarantee an interaction between her and Ezra where he attempts to make some type of Lando-esque move on her. 🙂
