New Star Wars: The Force Awakens TV Spot With One New Scene!

PlanetA new TV spot aired on Sports Center, sponsored by Star Wars: The Force Awakens. There’s only one new scene in the spot, but it’s really cool…

Mild Spoilers!

The planet that briefly appears is probably D’Qar. Recently Empire officially revealed that this is the planet where the Resistance base is located. And from the spot it looks like the Falcon and the X-Wings are returning to it. It could also be Takodana, but from all the trailers and spots we’ve seen so far, we can conclude that the Falcon is already on Takodana when the X-Wings come to Maz Kanata’s place to the rescue.

After dozens of great shots, those asteroids look terrible. Can that be said?

Why? I just think they’re a different kind of asteroid ring than we’ve seen before. Why should all the asteroid belts look exactly the same in SW?

I do think the asteroids in Empire looked much better. Look, in the Rey’s featurette they shown
a creature that was mix real and CG (talking with Finn in a table), and it looked so
right! I’m not a CG hater, but this asteroids look terrible, sorry, they look out of a videogame.

def- there is a right way and a wrong way to use Green screen and CGI- the obvious wrong way is that classic over the shoulder/ back shot where everything else is comped in- usually used as an establishing shot- its probably the laziest CG sin in movies over the past 20 years- and oddly enough its one that GL didn’t really fall prey to in the prequels outside of that 2001 homage near the end of ROTS and even that used CGI characters for the over the shoulder so it wasn’t as bad and it was a much wider shot- that being said its still not a great shot. Godzilla 2014 did this terribly. Alien Vs Predator had an predator home world establishing shot that did this, Chronicles of Riddick had this- It would be interesting to go through and find all these shots and create a video of them. Such a lazy way of storytelling.

This is the part of the hype train that makes me vomit. Where everybody wants a piece of the pie and start attaching Star Wars to completely unrelated things.

Sure Disney doesn’t care. The film has probably made its budget back and its not even out yet.

Disney owns ESPN and will obviously promote it through ESPN. This was bound to happen. It’s the smart thing to do, they’re trying to make money, they don’t care if us Star Wars fans feel like it doesn’t belong. It’s theirs, and it’s being promoted through their avenues. I’m not sure why some of the others are bothered by it. I saw this coming 3 years ago.

It’s the most anticipated movie of the year and the most anticipated movie since Revenge of the Sith and probably has the most recognizable brand in the entertainment media that spawned movies, comic books, video games, toys, novels, mobile games, etc.. The movie broke the movie ticket pre-order record and it’s not even out yet. I think people got the memo.

Star Wars is appreciated throughout the world. When the original movie came out at the time of the economic crisis in late 70’s, it was beloved by many in the whole globe. Do you need more recognition than that or do you want to leave the franchise dealing with greedy corporate handling. God forbid if I don’t want my beloved franchise to be stained by corporate decisions.

I don’t mind the Ewoks. Holiday Special was a mistake. I’m afraid it’ll get lot worse after the Disney license purchase especially after the prequels ended up the way they were. The Force Awakens might be good but I can’t guarantee the bright future for Star Wars after so many announced spin-off movies, comic books and games by EA. You thought Lucas was bad? Just you wait till Disney draws the line. You’ll never think the same about Star Wars again.

If anything was ever, EVER, going to change my mind about SW, it wouldn’t be that important to me. People can do what they want with it….create generic alien invasions, insectoid rebellions, silly droids, Jar Jar freaking Binks…but nothing touches my original love for Star Wars, and anything that opens up that world to others reflects how much it means, however different those meanings be, to so many people.

    • December 3, 2015 at 9:15 pm

Remember that theyre trying to attract the casual viewers too. They already have the hardcore fans’ money that have been following SW news on the new movies since October 2012; now it’s about grabbing those who are just average moviegoers.
