Surprised that Ford suddenly became eager to engage in the marketing of the movie.
I suspect this has something to do with the recent comment from Spielberg regarding upcoming Indy5.

It’s no doubt part of his contract to go on this long press junket. It almost always is for the stars of any motion picture…

All stars have to promote. However, Harrison Ford is so enthusiastic about this film. Not the same could be said on other press junkets he has done in the past.

Exactly, old rumor has it that Ford’s contract for TFA demands 2 more Indy movies be produced by Disney. And it seems no coincident that KK, her hasband producer Frank Marshall, Spielberg, all hinted another Indy with Harrison Ford.

I agree. Star Wars never had this much talent. The same can be said about Rogue One. I can’t believe it actually.. What a time to be a Star Wars fan and what a present to have abunch of new films in the works.

The phantom menace had a lot of talent. Liam, Natalie and Ewen. I am of the minority opinion that of the Prequels, the first was by far the best before all emotion and creativity was beaten out of everyone working on those movies.

It did but this film has Ford, Driver, Boyega, Issacs, Gleeson, Lupita, Serkis.. much more talent. Ofcourse the talent doesn’t matter if the director can’t get the best performance out of them though

eh. come one interviewer…. the prequels used miniatures everywhere! maybe more so than the OT. Its just that GL didn’t shoot the prequels well and the cinematography was very lazy so the minitures didn’t composite all that well.

    • December 6, 2015 at 7:43 pm
      Permalink

Miniatures =/= real sets. In fact, CGI ship combat looks great. CGI or miniature sets? Much harder to pull off.

    • December 6, 2015 at 8:02 pm
      Permalink

Good to hear your comment! Someone honest who says they were lots of miniatures in the PT, but the composite with all CG and the whole cinematography looked lazy, specially in II and III where GL overloaded ILM with more tha 2000 CG shots x film.

the 2 minutes on the homestead? eh ok- anakin on the video game speeder? no. C3P0/ padme standing outside the homestead in an obvious green screen reshoot-? hell, no.

That “video game speeder” sure looked a whole lot more realistic than the annoying bright yellow dots of x-wings leaving Yavin 4 in the pre-special edition a new hope.

    • December 6, 2015 at 9:29 pm

Episode 1 used miniatures. The other two used like 90% CGI with the occasional miniature. The OT DEFINITELY used more.

        • December 6, 2015 at 9:33 pm

Right. Correct. The truth. I hate it when people try to revise history and say that the prequels were so heavy on practical effects. Take one look at them–it’s simply not true. That’s a cool volcano, but it doesn’t somehow remove all of the terrible CGI lava that was also used in Episode III.

          • December 6, 2015 at 9:36 pm
            Permalink

I didn’t say anything about practice effects- How a model is utilized and composted has nothing to do with “practical effects”. As evidence by the overabundance of CGI in the prequels. Episode 2 and 3 were shot poorly by a lazy director. Swap out the director and those two movies at least had a chance visually.

yeah, and take those practice effects and place 40 layers of cgi on, in front of, and behind and do it in a shotty way. It doesn’t really matter how good the model was.

Not really, I want to break out photos of all the models used in EP2 and 3 and there are lots. Geonosis Arena was like a 15 foot wide 7 foot wide miniature, Padme’s apartment, Clone facilities buildings on Kamino, the clonelab hallways, Jedi
Library Archives, we know they went to Tunisia to the original A New Hope locations of the Lars homestead, they went to Lake Como in Italy for Naboo. In EP3 Utapau was done with in extensive detailed models, as were many of the other planets, all this is seen in the making of books and documentaries, so don’t just take my word for it, it’s out there.
