I get that it’s the beginning of the season but they need to pick it up a bit. I enjoyed the episode and all because, ya’know, Hondo. But it needs to pick up and start driving a story forward.

Well, they do have 20 episodes for this season, so I think it’d be fine if they go with a slow pace, and take time to set up and build story elements, for 6-8 more episodes.

6-8 more…? did you hear yourself?

Yup. 6-8 more means that the “pay off” would start around the 10th/12th episode, which is exactly between the second and the third act of a 20+ episodes run.
Now, normally, the first act serves to “set the stage”, the second act is to “complicate things” and third is the “resolution” – basically, the first two acts establish characters, plot and build the tension and the third is when shit goes down.

Oh I understand this. I discussed this with people before too. I guess I’m just excited to see some of the exciting space battles we’ve seen previewed in the trailers! OR better yet the lightsaber fight between Asohka and the Inquisitor!

Well said. In New Hope, Act 1 arguably ends when the Falcon crew discover the destruction of Alderaan and Act two begins when they first see the Death Star. However, that doesn’t happen until half way through New Hope.

We must persevere… and in time A New Hope will emerge!..

I was most impressed with Ezra’s ability to use the force in this episode. It was quite entertaining to watch him.

I love me some Hondo… I always got these weird feelings of nostalgia and deja vu at times when watching the Hondo episodes in Clone Wars…like I had seen the character before or something. Well I finally looked up the Hondo voice actor on imdb and found out why. He basically was a character on every cartoon that was on during my childhood. Jim Cummings, who voices Hondo, was also Winnie the Pooh, Pete from A Goofy Movie, Darkwing Duck, and Monteray jack on Chip ‘n’ Dale Rescue Rangers (among many others).

He was Don Karnage in Tail Spin. Basically the exact same sort of character, with a hilarious accent. Hence, why it so easily presses those nostalgia buttons.

It was nice to see Hondo again. Other than that, I wasn’t crazy about the episode. It felt like filler and I thought we were past the Ezra soul searching. Also, the Ghost crew seems extremely fragmented in the show stories. I hope we get more where the entire team is together on a mission, as opposed to the 1-3 clusters we’ve been seeing. The episode was fine, but I hope they deliver something with more substance next week

I know they are both beloved characters but I could not stand Hondo or Cad Bane. Just something about them both, the way they could easily foil the Jedi in TCW and the antagonists were basically helpless to stop them almost every time. Or if they did foil the bounty hunters it was by sheer luck.

That was a fun episode, I always liked Hondo, so it was great to see him again. I didn’t like his clothes, though, very plain compared to his pirate coat in TCW. But I guess they used this to show he has nothing now..
And hey, I now realized that he walked away with all the money in the end 😀

Everytime a Clone Wars characters appear in Rebels makes evident the budget constraint of this show, unfortunately. It’s not only the cloths. Look at his face in The Clone Wars, it was pretty much detailed.

Want to make clear I have nothing against Filoni and co. Disney chose to focus the money on the new films, which I think it’s fantastic. Filoni, as usual, does his best to push his show.

Nice to finally see the B-Wing in action in animated form. We barely saw it in the film.
