Star_Wars_The_Force_AwakensThere are multiple reports on the web that the poster for Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be released just in a few hours time. The poster is expected to hit at noon EST (9am PST, 5pm BST)…

ESPN Caribbean’s Twitter account confirmed that the new poster will be released today as well as that there will be a trailer for the movie during Monday Night’s game between the New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles.

The tweet has been removed since. Later HeroicHollywood confirmed the timeline for the debuts:

Our sources have revealed to us the timeline for the debuts. Expect the the poster to debut online at noon EST tomorrow. The final trailer will debut during half-time of Monday night’s New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles game.

Also these reports were backed up by the following tweet from a theater chain in the UK.

Is it just the poster at 5 or trailer as well. Because if it’s just the poster then it would be odd if John Boyega said “Get ready” for just a poster.

Maybe a clever trick of Disney of showing first the poster…And then out of nowhere, the trailer appears!

Would be awesome especially since today is my birthday…what a present that would be however I doubt it. Monday Night Football is one of the most watched programs in the U.S. and word is the opening will be Star Wars themed. This also will boost the ratings even more (though Eagles/Giants games are always big ratings draws). I do however think the trailer and ticket announcement might come with the poster release.

However, the rest of the world doesn’ t even know there’ s a monday night game in the US and the money cames from all over the globe so it would be nice to respect that…..

For a Star Wars fan, the poster is part of the entire movie experience, as well as the soundtrack or the sound editing. No surprise they continue to fucking tease everything!

Hopefully it will be a bit better than the prequel posters. I was looking at all three yesterday and well, they are not great. They almost look photo shopped with the placements of Yoda, 3PO/R2 and Jango. I want a old school looking poster!

I’m wondering how they’re going to release the trailer. As an European I hope they release the trailer online hours before the Football in the US. Since it will be in the middle in the night for us 😛 However, due to the excitement I possibly can’t sleep anyway 😛

In many ways the poster is more important than the trailer. Thirty years from now we are not going to be watching that trailer anymore but hopefully we will still be talking about how awesome that poster still is.

    • October 18, 2015 at 4:11 pm
      Permalink

As part of my May Star Wars tradition I listen to each Movie’s Sound Track, watch all the Trailers, all the special features from nearly every medium (DVD/Blu-ray) then the movies themselves. So i will probably continue to watch the trailer thirty years from now.

We still talk about how awesome the trailer is for TPM and how it never lived up to how epic that trailer was, so the trailer is just as important as the poster is .

      • October 18, 2015 at 4:29 pm
        Permalink

I love the special features as well. I have watched the Revenge of the Sith featurettes and web documentaries more times than I care to count. My hope is that TFA delivers and brings us a bunch of great behind the scenes features.

That’s my hope as well when it comes time to buy the Blu-ray that its loaded with special features that are just as good as the ones from the old DVDs. Hell i’ve watched Empire of Dreams just as much as some of the Prequel films.

I have a feeling along with the poster release they will confirm the Monday Night Football trailer debut and ticket sales. I cant imagine they wait until tomorrow to announce that. They will want to have a full day to get the word out and you know as soon as they announce it…the info will be everywhere. Wouldn’t be shocked if ABC aired commercials tonight teasing the trailer release tomorrow night just to get the word out even more.

I don’t get the football/Star Wars connection either. I’m guessing they wanted to find a time where many people would be watching TV when dropping the trailer. interesting how Rey and Kylo are looking in the same direction, also the Stormtroopers are on both sides, and you got JB with his Jedi Weapon right next to the Death Moon almost like he’s protecting it.

Kylo and Rey with parallel weapons and being the two single largest characters on the one sheet say to me only one thing – they are the Skywalker siblings. Boyega doesn’t look like a hero even a little bit.
Which probably goes a long way towards explaining why there have been so few black heroes throughout recorded history.
And no, George Washington Carver doesn’t count. lol

    I’m sure Boyega THINKS he’s a hero though, considering a he’s a narcissist.

Was expecting Drew Struzan to do the official poster. Drew even gave the impression that he was going to do it. Based on the interviews he did at the D23 convention. This poster is a real let down. Looks pretty much like all the marvel movie posters , which are photo-shopped. Disney why didn’t you go with a painted poster by Drew?

I’m pretty sure this IS by Drew, so…

Sorry to inform you that it has been confirmed that it is not a Struzan. The poster was photo-shopped by a guy named Bryan Morton.

    Poster analysis

    1) Finn is going to wield that llightsaber. The snowy forest scene is therefore an actual thing, not a force dream Finn may have had. Who on earth is going to make him able to wield it properly?

    2) Rey’s weapon parallel to Kylo’s indicate their common heritage. They are definitely related. The showdown will be between them. They are Solos? Skywalkers? Who knows. My money is on the second because it was pretty much given by the producer.

    3) New Death Star people! And by the looks of it it seems that the posts claiming that this baddy can pulverize entire solar system have merit. Really menacing, we could use some more info on its capabilities.

    4) No Luke. It seems our favorite Jedi Master will appear at the end of the movie making us wish we had time machines to skip to episode 8 at once.

    5) Han looks badass as always. Leia appears to have chosen the noble’s life even though she was proven to be force sensitive.

    6) Poe appears to be the main man against Phasma. You can tell.

    7) Weird cgi creaure next to R2. It’s probably close to Leia’s circle and it was hitned that it will be the one to give Luke’s saber to Leia.

    8) Again I want to stress the Rey- Kylo stances. Could they be both Dark Side force users? Their looking away in sync looks intimidating.

WHAT HAVE I MISSED? TELL ME PPL!

It’s possible that “Starkiller base” is that planet?

The Starwars.com website said that that this “Death Star” is actually called the “Starkiller Base”. It’s an ice planet with a space station on it, and it can destroy entire star systems. Do with that what you will. Also, I believe that that CGI creature is actually Maz Kanata, played by Lupita Nyongo.
