Star Wars Battlefront News Roundup.

Star-Wars-Battlefront-3-Beta-Darth-Vader-Luke-Skywalker-HothWith the Star Wars Battlefront beta arriving tomorrow, now would be as good a time as any to cover some details about the game that we’ve not discussed. Peek inside to see what dreaded financial feature will be completely absent from the game, what console will get the game a few days early for download, and more.

Firstly, let’s start off with some gameplay footage of the highly-anticipated beta to DICE’s game:

The gameplay is looking pretty solid at this point – a great sign for what’s to come when the full game comes out in a little over a month. But aside from gameplay, there are also a few things related to the game’s technical aspects that are worth discussing. Let’s start off with what will undoubtedly be a huge relief to the wallets of players everywhere: the game will not have microtransactions, meaning that players won’t have to pay for dozens of deceptively-inexpensive costs to gain temporary advantages over other players. The game will have two different currencies in-game – points and credits – but both have to be earned as opposed to bought. It appears as though EA will look instead to creating DLC packs to gain additional revenue from the game instead, although the first DLC pack – Battle Of Jakku – will be completely free for all players.

EA AccessNext up is something that should come to please Xbox One owners – those who are invested in the EA Access program will be able to play the game five days earlier than everyone else… for six hours, anyway. Bear in mind that this includes idle time, so if you leave the game paused, then you’re burning money – so make the time count! Furthermore, DICE was also able to confirm that while the game will not have a server browser, it will have dedicated multiplayer servers across all platforms.

Finally, here are the PC specifications for the game:

Minimum PC System Requirements

  • OS: 64-bit Windows 7 or later
  • Processor (Intel): Intel i3 6300T or equivalent
  • Memory: 8GB RAM
  • Hard Drive: At least 40 GB of free space
  • Graphics card (NVIDIA): nVidia GeForce GTX 660 2GB
  • Graphics card (ATI): ATI Radeon HD 7850 2GB
  • DirectX: 11.0 Compatible video card or equivalent
  • Online Connection Requirements: 512 KBPS or faster Internet connection

Recommended PC System Requirements

  • OS: 64-bit Windows 10 or later
  • Processor (Intel): Intel i5 6600 or equivalent
  • Memory: 16GB RAM
  • Hard Drive: At least 40 GB of free space
  • Graphics card (NVIDIA): nVidia GeForce GTX 970 4GB
  • Graphics card (AMD): AMD Radeon R9 290 4GB
  • DirectX: 11.1 Compatible video card or equivalent
  • Online Connection Requirements: 512 KBPS or faster Internet connection

Sound a bit intimidating for those of you with older computers? Don’t get too worried – a writer for PC Gamer noted that the game’s beta worked fine on his 4-year-old work computer, so it doesn’t seem like you’ll need a super-up-to-date computer to play the game.

Is the last video a preview of The Battle of Jakku? With Star Destroyers in the sky on fire and only seeing one Sun I am just curious. Or is it a different mode of the game that takes place on Jakku just for location sake? I really haven’t been following info on BF for awhile now.

Yes !! Have they removed the jetpacks on all units ? i can’t see one in the first video…Definitely the most awful thing in this game. This is not COD AW or Titanfall. in beta videos, all units had it. btw the blaster pistol shoots way too fast. What is the difference with the rifle blaster of Stormtrooper then ?

You guys know me. I’m an optimist for the most part concerning all the new stuff. I think TFA looks fantastic so far. I’m even onboard for the rough outline we’ve gotten. I’m super excited for Amy and Visceral’s SW game.

I was pretty excited for this game but as more and more has come out it’s quickly dissipated. It’s gotten so bad I’m counting on the beta to change my mind. I’m this close to just canceling it and picking it up later for cheap just to fool around in the horde mode.
