Interview Magazine: Conversation with Carrie Fisher and Daisy Ridley!

Daisy and CarrieDuring a conversation between the two actresses that appears in the latest issue of Interview Magazine, Carrie Fisher gave some interesting advice to Star Wars newcomer Daisy Ridley, and talked about crushes, favorite actors, toys, the first kiss and more. Read on for the full details…

Excerpts from Interview Magazine:

CARRIE FISHER: We finally made it into interview mode, our destiny. Where are you?

DAISY RIDLEY: I’m in the car. I just got back from the airport in Berlin.
CF: Why were you in Berlin?

DR: I was doing press there, meeting all the lovely Germans.

CF: So what actors do you like now? Besides me, of course.

DR: Of course you. Carey Mulligan and Felicity Jones are two of my favorites. I’m not so much younger than them. I like that. It’s kind of aspirational.

daisy-ridley

CF: And males? Any crushes?

DR: Not really! I’ve never been one for crushing on famous people. People have been asking me about crushes out of the original film, and I say you every time. They were like, “Is there anyone you particularly look up to?” And I’m like, “Well, Carrie, obviously.”

CF: That’s good. You didn’t like Mark [Hamill] or Harrison [Ford]? This is the only time we’d ever have this conversation. [laughs]

DR: Of course, I like them both! But you’re a kick-ass woman.

CF: I’m your predecessor, I think.

DR: Exactly. You paved the way for all the girls.

JJ & Rey

CF: It was my gravel! Girl gravel! Girl-vel! So what did they ask you in Berlin?

DR: Mainly I’m asked how I got the role, did I like Star Wars before, and am I ready for what’s to come.

CF: And what do you say? Yes, yes, yes?

DR: I say, “I auditioned for the role because everyone did. I was there at the right time.”

CF: You were telling me about it! You auditioned five times or something?

DR: Yeah. I liked Star Wars, but I wasn’t an überfan like many people are. Which I didn’t realize, actually, until this year. I don’t know if I can prepare for what’s to come because I don’t know what will.

CF: How would you not be ready? How can you prepare for what’s to come in life? You should ask them back. I would be interested in that answer.

DR: I mean, I don’t know what’s to come.

Rey

CF: Have they shown you any little dolls of you yet?

DR: Yeah! I got sent some.

CF: How many are there?

DR: Someone said today there were four, but I’m not sure.

CF: Do they come with outfits and stuff?

DR: No, there’s just one.

CF: Oh my God, you’re going to be a Halloween costume. How do you feel about that?

DR: I’ve seen some really cute kids dressed as Rey. I love that.

img-daisy-ridley

CF: Oh, you’re going to have people have fantasies about you! That will make you uncomfortable, I’m guessing.

DR: Yeah, a bit.

CF: Have you been asked that?
DR: No, they always talk about how you’re a sex symbol, and how do I feel about that. [Fisher sighs] I’m not a sex symbol! [laughs]

CF: Listen! I am not a sex symbol, so that’s an opinion of someone. I don’t share that.

DR: I don’t think that’s the right—

CF: Word for it? Well, you should fight for your outfit. Don’t be a slave like I was.

DR: All right, I’ll fight.

CF: You keep fighting against that slave outfit.

DR: I will.

Rey and BB-8CF: I’m looking forward to your space kiss.

DR: My space kiss?

CF: You’re going to have to have one. Every girl does.

DR: [laughs] At this point, we’ll wait and see, I guess.

Yup. Ford was wrecked by celebrity, success, and money.

Fisher was done in by blow, booze, and Paul Simon.

He looks back in top form here but he really hasn’t given a decent performance in 15-20 years.

Well I’m not entirely sure about his other more recent movies besides Indiana Jones, but he definitely did a good job in that in my opinion.

He was still not as Indy as he seems to be Han in this one. The last time he really shined was in Empire and it looks like he might again here. He does want to do another Indiana Jones though and if he lives long enough to make it then I’m sure he’ll give a similarly memorable performance.

Hmmm. Well from what we’ve seen so far, he seems a little too serious for Han but that could also be ’cause a lot has changed over 30 years. Indiana Jones, I thought he did just as well as the other films.

He seems more like his old self in the TV spots. At least he doesn’t seem to be there mostly for comic relief like in most of Jedi. He might have some more good non-SW/Indy roles again before he retires if he does enough of a good job in this one.

          • November 26, 2015 at 12:20 am
            Permalink

Well, in the end he’s the one who decides if he retires. I hope he’s like Christopher Lee though, and just goes until he dies of old age ’cause I think he’s awesome.

          • November 26, 2015 at 12:31 am
            Permalink

I always saw him retiring since he seems more interested in flying now then making films. I think Christopher Lee went on so long cause he usually played supporting roles, was rarely the star, and never made the A list so he had a steady niche in genre films. I think Harrison would much rather fly than be relegated to second banana roles which is probably why Sean Connery retired as wll.

Yeah. I see. But I’d still like to seem him continue on longer. Most just because he’s one of my favourite actors.

He should totally go for the paycheck and do a real Indiana Jones TV series as an old man. There hasn’t been any real action-adventure shows like that in forever and never on a high budget.

Even when you read Carrie Fisher’s quotes she sounds like she’s on something.

lol Carrie Fisher should do all of Entertainment’s interviews from now on.

“CF: Oh, you’re going to have people have fantasies about you! That will make you uncomfortable, I’m guessing.

    DR: Yeah, a bit.”

I think the Full Interview is more enjoyable.
Also Carrie Fisher sounds like a fun person to hang out / get arrested with.

lol.. Carrie has became a bit bold and Daisy seems a little shy at her age, so it’s funny to hear them both talk. It’s a shame that Carrie didn’t like the metal bikini because she was so smoking hot in it back in the day. But I heard that her experience with it wasn’t very comfortable so I can understand that.
