I wonder why they haven’t made any of the Captain Phasma figures in an actual chrome finish like in the film. Its pretty much the defining characteristic of her armor. They’ve made chrome figurines of droids before, so you know it can be done…
I don’t mind the finish, but I don’t like the plastic cape. It restricts movement. I’m surprised they didn’t use cloth like they usually do.
Looks like other materials (than plastic) are way too expensive for the mass production … or that the Hasbro executives are just bunch of greedy corporate douchebags.
It’s likely the first. Disney is amazing at mass marketing; I am assuming they probably *will* release a special edition of Captain Phasma, but not till later.
Am I seeing things or is the TIE pilot different from special forces TIE pilot?
The special forces pilot is the one we see in the teaser. It has red stripes on it’s face to match the ship.
Anyone know when these are going to be officially released?
Too bad I can’t even find the wave one figures for all the scalpers…
These look great! I want that Tie Fighter!
I preordered the first order tie fighter on Monday on gamestop’s website. I think the release date is oct 15th.
For scalpers it becomes a high priced ripoff dream. The amounts they charging on Ebay for Wave 1 is absurd.
Did general Hux joined the Gestapo?
Clearly inspired!
Hahaha when I saw his design, I too thought, “Damn that looks exactly like the Nazi SS clothing!”
I went to a flee market over the weekend and found some Wave 1 black series and was able to get a First Order Stormtrooper for only $25. I am really looking forward to Wave 3 when we can get Han Luke and Leia.
And so it starts. Many of those people standing in line to be the first to buy the FA toys are not fans, but greedy jerks who want to make money selling them on Ebay and thus screwing the fans.
Went to 3 stores on Friday after work – and arrived to a similar scene of freshly-picked carcasses. Hope they re-stock soon!
It really is awful. I can speak from first hand experience collecting other figures over the years but eventually quit cold turkey since the scalpers always get everything and on the distributor-retailer level they don’t seem to care about shipping more waves or shipping the more scarcer figures. All the retailers want is the main characters because its what parents are interested in for their kids.
The original Kenner figures were utterly UBIQUITOUS back during the OT years – goodness, even supermarkets & drugstores sold them: There was literally NO figure you couldn’t have – If you’ve not seen it, I’d recommend the documentary ‘Plastic Galaxy’, which tells the story of Kenner Toys in the late 70s & the birth of SW figures / collecting: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2ikrhc
early bird gets the worm
The Snowtrooper pre-order is already sold out at ToysRUs. Thanks scalpers. I spoke via phone with a customer service rep and they confirmed that all available units from the manufacturer have been purchased via pre-order. Was there even a limit on the number per person?
Nope, they almost never do. One or two assholes will add as many as they can to cart. Go to big bad toystore. com. They will make you preorder all the figures for wave 2 in a lot for 99$. But you’ll get each figure at a reasonable price. Sell the ones you dont want.
Scalpers? How about fans that really wanted this design haha. Or people who were left with nothing Force Friday wanted to be sure to grab these.
One place online said pre-orders shipped mid-November. I doubt it will be that late for the release, no?
Did Hux steal Dooku’s clothes? Not judging him since Lando did it with Han’s too.
Probably going to catch some flack here but I used to be a toy scalper in college. In fact, that was my only job in college and got me through all 4 years without having to hold down a typical job. Having said that, it isnt all as easy peasy as some people make it out to be. Lot of leg work, lot of research, and A LOT of upfront RISK!! Scalpers take risk. It’s good money when it works, but I’ve lost my ass a few times too. As a scalper you have to anticipate supply and demand. It’s all a gamble. So you have to know what you’re doing and do your homework or you lose big. I can tell you Scalpers only exist because the current environment enables them. Blame the scalpers less, and blame their enablers more. 1. Toy distributors are horrible, I can understand the market for a new toy is sometimes a gamble but with a franchise like star wars you can’t make enough of these things. 2. Retailers, they should place buying limits on toys (they do it on ammo and other hot items), like 2 per customer. I literally could walk in wal-mart, toys R us, or target on a toy launch date and buy every toy on the shelf. 3. People pay the mark up price because they want the item that bad. Lots of blame to go around.
Here is my advice, trade secrets learned from my old scalping days if you want to get your figures at the right price. 1) Preorder, the second they announce a new movie, comic book series, or TV show; the toys are already in the works. 2) Research, (if no preorders are happening), you can figure out who is making these figures and who’s got the toy licencing. Forbes, Business insider, Toy news outlets, and conventions are your friend for info. Lot of times I would simply call up companies like Hasbro and just ask, “Hey when are these things expected to hit shelves”. Worst case, they tell you they cant give out that info. Sometimes you get all the info you need. 3) Do the “right” leg work, Target, Wal-mart, and Toys R US are not the only retail people in the game FYI. There are mom and pops, and online only toy stores all across the country. A bunch of you suckers do a google search for your figure and only look at page 1 results. Dig deeper!!! lol You’ll be surprised what you find on page 2-20!!! 4) Go to the goddamn source!!!, where do you think all this shit is made? CHINA….all of these figures are manufactured in a Chinese sweat shop. In China they dont operate the same way we do and arent as by the book when it come to release dates and such. Cash is king!! I’ve called up and bribed 100’s of Chinese manufactures and sometimes was able to get figure before they even hot the shelf, even below retail price (no middle man).
So glad I didn’t buy the elite series from the Disney store!
Don’t say that. I just ordered the Elite Series line. You think the Black Series is better? 🙂
That’s what I was wondering. I think the Elite figures look better than the Black Series. I think I want them for display purposes over the Black Series figures. Besides, what am I gonna do with all those extra weapons and hands? 🙂
tbh I don’t know the difference but the black series always seem to be more expensive.

4) Go international, some figures that sell like hot cakes here are peg warmers in Canada, Mexico, UK, and Australia.
