UPDATE! Leaked LEGO Star Wars Product Lists for The Force Awakens and More.

bb-8-droid-lego-star-wars-tfa-2015-600x529A recent leak of next year’s LEGO Star Wars products has revealed a number of interesting details about the movie, including the name of one of the planets. Furthermore, there are new lines of LEGO toys that expand beyond The Force Awakens, with new sets based on existing canon works.

From MintInBox (loosely translated):

Once again, MintInBox’s Bothan spies have recovered some valuable information – we will now unveil the complete list of upcoming LEGO sets in early 2016. Of course, many of these are tied to The Force Awakens, (with some new info about the movie), but Star Wars Rebels, and Star Wars Battlefront will also be getting sets. This includes:

– 6 new Microfighters sets: 2 for The Force Awakens and 4 for Star Wars Rebels (AT-DP, The Ghost, Prototype TIE Advanced, and Wookiee Gunship).

– 2 sets for The Force Awakens: “Battle on Takodana” and “The Pirate Transport”.

– 2 Battle Pack sets based on The Force Awakens: a “Hero” and “Villain”.

– 2 Battle Pack sets inspired by Star Wars Battlefront respectively themed after the Empire and the Rebel Alliance.

– 6 new Construction figures.

– 4 sets of the Original Trilogy and the Prequel Trilogy (Hoth Attack, Bespin Carbon Freezing Chamber, Droid Escape Pod, and Obi-Wan’s Jedi Interceptor).

As you can see, we have just discovered the name a new planet in The Force Awakens – “Takodana”.

Given that the packs are slated to be released after The Force Awakens comes out, it is highly likely that “Takodana” is the name of the snow planet. Other information that can be gleaned from this is that the Battlefront IP will have a marketing tie-ins and that the characters of Rebels might visit Kashyyyk at some point in Season 2.

People take too much away from the Oscar Issac Yavin 4 comment. He was talking about Guatemala where they filmed the landscape. I’ll bet you $10 bucks that if Takodana is real, it’s Maz’s planet, and the snow planet is either the previous Ryoome or something else entirely. There’s no chance the Empire lost the Death Star at Yavin and didn’t come back and destroy that place later. Also, if there is a civilian population on Yavin, given it’s history, it would be terribly irresponsible for the Resistance to set up there.

I think a similar set was made back when the show was in Season 1. They’ve already set up the Wookiees, so I think they will go to the planet eventually.

I’m excited to see what they’ll do with the show now that they’ve got a larger budget and cast of characters to work with.

The names Takodana and Maz Kanata seem to share a kind of similarity in sound.

Plus, a pirate transport (ship) is listed together with the Takodana battle set suggesting the connection.

It’s not consistent with Japanese phonotactics though. Too many consonant clusters. However, I admit it does sound superficially Japanese.

Yeah, SW has a long tradition of using Japanese words for stuff:

“Kami no …” means “… of wind” – or alternatively “…of God”,
also sounds like “Kimono” – “wear thing”, a dress-robe that dudes and chicks wear [remind you of anyone?]

Edo Jidai historical period – which sounds suspiciosly like “Edo Jedi”, a mistake that temporarily made Japanese history sound cooler.

the list goes on – i think – I’ve run out of Japanese vocabulary, I’ll have more examples ready in 6 months…

Thanks for the Google search info concerning the Japanese word tako (sarcasm). What does Takodana mean? …Nothing. But let me guess…So although the snow planet looks like Hoth it is not Hoth. &, oh yeah, the desert planet covered in moisture vaporators is not Tatooine… it’s Jakku because of the battle of Jakku that occurred there.
I guess if someone whom actually lives on Tatooine where to somehow get there hands on a book (or data tape) on the battle of Gettysburg they would surely assume the information came from the planet Gettysburg.
The snow planet is Hoth, the desert planet we’ve seen from the beginning of the leaked TMZ images is Tatooine. Jakku is an area of Tatooine as Gettysburg is an area of the planet Earth. Are we tracking yet, Star Wars fans??

Agreed. I didn’t like most of them at first, but all of them grew on me. Particularly Kylo and Jakku. I still dislike Snoke and Hux, but I think thats because for something to feel “Star Wars” to me I have to imagine it alive in the universe. Takodana could go either way with the snow planet or the forest/jungle planet where Maz Kanata’s castle is at.

We know there’s some kind of battle on both.
    – The Snow Planet battle seems to be more in space, with Han, Chewie, and Finn going there to rescue Rey and disable shields/defences.
    – The Jungle Planet Battle looks to be between Stormtroopers and pirates with some heavy firepower being used to wreck Maz’s Castle.

Takodana does sound a little more exotic in my opinion…

Yeah, I hate how Jupiter is basically the same as Neptune except for that they made the stupid ring bigger and renamed it. Same gas giant rehash.

But in all seriousness…We have seen in star wars so many biomes:
        -A Forest Planet
        -A City Planet
        -A Desert Planet
        -A Swamp Planet
        -A Rock Planet
        -A Snow Planet
        -An Ocean Planet
        -A Temperate/tropical Planet
        -A Lava Planet
We have covered all the biomes at this point…does JJ have to invent a new one for every planet? Just because we haves seen a scene of desert doesn’t make something tatooine any more then a scene of (very forested) snow make something hoth. And even if it did, can’t two planets look similar? As you say- its a big galaxy to have only ONE planet of each type.

Yes more than one planet can look alike, but it still shows lack of imagination.

You could have a planet with all kinds of alien plant life never envisaged before.

I actually sort of agree with you on this point… I’m tired of having planets with Earth trees in most sci-fi’s.

Bespin has been the most exotic I’ve seen so far.

Nolan’s “interstellar” had a pretty cool idea for a world (thousands of layers of frozen clouds).

Cameron tried to go the route of inventing new plant life for “Avatar” by hiring plant life experts… but it seems like no matter what you do we are always biased because we only have Earth to draw from as a visual reference.

To JJ’s credit though… into darkness intro had a red tree planet… the construction of the trees took many months. But still… it’s f-ing trees!

I do remember reading about a planet who’s gravitational forces were so strong that it’s composed entirely out of diamond… that would be a cool world to see if you could survive it.

I think the desert and snow locations as well as others in the film exist because they wanted to use less CGI and give it a more OT feel. If you look at the OT it is the same: ANH had Tatooine and Yavin…ESB had Hoth, Dagobah, and Bespin…ROTJ revisted Tatooine and Dagobah and sent us to Endor. All of these locales are similar to earth (you could argue about Bespin since the planet itself is a gas giant, but from what we saw in the film, a “city in the clouds” feels very earth-related). Dagobah even had earth creatures like lizards and snakes. The PT is what gave us a lot of the exotic locations that are a part of SW. I think the fact that they are trying to bridge the OT-ST gap plays in to the use of these types of locations in episode VII. I wouldn’t be surprised to visit some more exotic CGI heavy locations in 8 and 9.

Abrams goes back to more practical and monochrome planets, he then gets criticize for using the same type of planets as we’ve seen. Geez they cannot win no matter what they do.

The question is; does Takodana REALLY appear in the film? or is it a 5-second environment that flashes by in a montage – a la Seleucami that “appeared” “in” ROTS?

nice toys though! those get way more screen-time in my mind’s eye than their “real” counterparts “in” the film.

to reiterate, is Takodana IN the film – FOR REAL?

You know what sounds like good Star Wars planet name? Lothal. Seriously, they need to bring Dave Filoni onboard the film side in some aspect, as a producer would be great, or at least just give him some story input. Maybe have him do a polish of the scripts. Something! The guy just understands Star Wars, and is a fantastic creator. Rebels is superb, and The Clone Wars cartoon was literally the best thing to come out of the Prequels.

Takodana is the jungle planet. When lego does battle packs they try to focus on on-screen battles involving two factions, wich might in this case be the pirates vs the first order stormies. If they focus the battlepack on abattle they might be focusing other sets… one of the wich could be the battle of takodana set

Some do. I myself have a son who is very interested in the SW Lego toys. But the main reason I think they are posting these articles and updates about the toy releases is for the tidbits (character names, locations etc.)that we can glean from it. For instance, we know there is a location in TFA now named Takodano and a group of characters that belong to a “kanjiklub gang”. Not big revelations, but still, with the tight lips from J.J. and co. we’ll take what we can get.

This new Star Wars, i’m not sure what to think about it…in particular this colored actor, john boyega.

This boy doesn’t seem like a worthy replacement for mark hamill.

And I’ve never been particularly fond of coloreds in movies, so I’m a little concerned about TFA.

Boyega isn’t supposed to be a replacement for Mark Hamill. He doesn’t play Luke Skywalker you know. Also you can keep your racist bs to yourself. So uncivilised.

The Star Wars universe is filled with powerful villains of all shapes and sizes including Sith Lords, bounty hunters, and gangsters. Lucasfilm may have gone Order 66 on the Star Wars Expanded Universe but here s why Clone Wars and Rebels are must-see shows in preparation for Episode 7.
