UPDATE! Rumored Trailer Descriptions.

x-wing.0It’s all but been confirmed that the next trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be hitting Celebration, and trailer details have been questionable at best. Recently, a bulleted list of details explaining what will be in the trailer popped up – make the jump to take a look.

From Making Star Wars:

  • The teaser runs at about a one minute and fifty seconds, just under two minutes.
  • Han, Leia, Artoo and Threepio.
  • We do see Yavin in the teaser.
  • We see a shot of Finn with a blue lightsaber.
  • There is a shot of Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie), the chrome Stormtrooper, very briefly.
  • We do see Kylo Ren’s helmeted face.
  • We see Poe Dameron shoot down a TIE fighter.
  • A shot of Finn and Poe walking past one another at the base.
  • Rey is in a few shots.
  • There is a shot of Poe Dameron, Artoo-Detoo, See-Threepio, and a CGI character (Rose).
  • BB-8 socketed in the back of an X-wing.
  • Kylo Ren’s Imperial shuttle flies by with TIE escorts to the Star Destroyer.
  • Star Destroyer(s).
  • The Falcon.
  • X-wing fighters flying in a V-shape formation.
  • Darth Vader’s helmet sitting on a podium.
  • No Serkis.
  • No Luke.

It should be noted that this list is not necessarily a comprehensive one, and that these details are not described in the order that they will appear in, according to the source. Take this report with a grain of salt – as I’ve alluded to before, several other trailer descriptions (however questionable though they may be) have popped up on other sites fairly recently. In any case, we’ll get a good look at the trailer in 10 days.

UPDATE!

Star Wars Underworld, in conjunction with ikwiz and That Hashtag Show, have additional details on the trailer.

The transcript of the description is as follows:

The opening sequence begins on the desert landscape, a dusty star destroyer crashed into the sand. Looks like it’s been there for many years.
Following cut, characters Rey and Finn and our favorite rolling robot BB-8 are making their way through a crowd in the fleamarket a very Tatooine-ish type of scenario.
Next, we have Rey looking through the trees, in a Yavin-like scenario, as TIE fighters fly overhead.
The next scene he told us about, were pilots running to their ships in their old-school style X-wing gear… yeah… orange!
Now it really starts to get interesting… Towards the end of the trailer, from behind, we will see Han Solo, vest and all. Complete traditional garb, the way we remember his, as he sits down and re-acquaints himself with the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon.
As if this wasn’t good enough – brace yourselves – because this last scene has not been described by any other website yet. As far as we know, this is an exclusive…
This last scene shows a gloved hand pulling something out of a pile of ash. As it comes into the clear, it begins to take the shape of Vader’s former helmet… what’s left of it. Here’s the interesting part:
Remains of a skull still reside in the helmet.

Finn Rey Han

The above image is an artist’s recreation from what the source saw in the footage, which apparently has not been reported by any other source. Only a week and a half to go before the trailer hits the airwaves…

I dont get it. Obviously they are going to have more Jedi and we know pretty much nothing about the character. Whats the problem, exactly? I don’t see how anyone has enough info to get mad about him turning on a lightsaber or being a jedi.

That’s being racist. Star Wars is not trying to be a white-all or black-all film.. It has diversity in it you fool. Also he is the same age as Mark Hamill. Your excuse for an ‘argument’ doesn’t even add up.

where this guy went wrong is when he said the word black if he had said John Boyega he would have been ok but there’s no denying John is black so you really can’t win anyway because you are then implying that he is no good for the role because he happens to be black. jeez you can go round implying all day and still end up being called a racist best not comment About all this cos you’ll end up being a a racist. Personally I think Boyega is a refreshing change and I wish him all the best.

Man I hope and am optimistic that boyega will turn out to be FANTASTIC in the role, and these completely dumbass frigging comments can evaporate. good gravy the idiocy spewed on the internet just keeps rollin on. As a white kid, I thought Lando was the coolest character in the universe, and now as an adult, Im really enthused about Boyega cause the guy’s 2 seconds in the teaser trailer showed more emotion and life than ive seen in a long time in star wars, and no im not a prequel basher. i enjoyed them.

i understand the scrutiny star wars is going to be subjected to, as all our geek passions are, but the ludicrous amount of negative overreaction to everything is just ridiculous. One of the underlying themes to all the wonderful universes we “enjoy” is hope. Hope for all beings, all races, no matter who you are or where youve come from, to achieve and dream of extraordinary things. how many more generations of ignorance must we endure.

enough with the narrowminded, short sighted, compassionate-less bigotry. I hope boyega shoves a proverbial lightsaber up all the naysayers asses, and ROCKS onscreen

I believe it has been debated endlessly whether Anakin’s body disappeared when he died, Obi-Wan and Yoda style. Some believe his body had to disappear for him to be able to manifest as a Force-ghost later, as he clearly could. It is then claimed that Luke only cremated his empty armor.

Then again, Qui-Gon’s body remained to be cremated; yet he was supposedly the first person ever to master the power of maintaining his individuality even after his bodily death.

Frankly, the whole question of what it takes to be able to manifest as a Force-ghost, and just why some Force-users dematerialize upon death whereas others do not, is pretty muddled.

We never quite found out how Vader/Anakin mastered this power. He certainly doesn’t seem to receive any crash course from Luke in his final moments, but perhaps the spirits of Yoda and Obi-Wan were somehow there to “receive” their redeemed comrade as he passed into the Force.

Yet, citing the example of Qui-Gon, the moviemakers can get away with Anakin not physically disappearing when he died.

        • April 7, 2015 at 8:03 pm
          Permalink

My thought was always that since Qui-Gon figured out the power AFTER his (normal) death due to his devotion to the will of the living force, Anakin could too. He never really had time or a teacher and I doubt palatine knew how. Anakin had the most force potential of any jedi, plus he was a strong believer in Qui-Gon’s teachings so he probably just figured it out on his own. Still I wish they would give a CONCISE explanation on force-ghosting. I would prefer most force things to remain vague, but who can/can’t come back to life or commune with the dead is kind of a big plot point that needs to be clear.

This could turn everything on its head. All what we think we know. Its like the empire found a replacement for darth vader already. I thought the kylo ren character would build up over time, but it seems like its already there at the top and strong. Maybe Max von Sydows character another short lived emporer type.

So, Yoda and Obi-Wan vanished when they died and returned as ghosts, but what about Vader? He left a physical corpse, and yet was still able to become one with the force in the end? I thought those two things went hand in hand.

I agree with a lot of things that are said hear about the trailer and it actually sounds pretty cool but……did not Anakin turn into a force ghost when he died. I have always heard that there are no bones in Darth Vader’s helmet or in his body suit because he turned into a force ghost. Hence was no longer in his armor, it was empty. So why would a skull be in his helmet

    • April 7, 2015 at 6:59 am
      Permalink

Exactly my thoughts. Neither Yoda nor Obi-Wan left any skull behind. When lucas was asked about it a while back he said that it was just the armor that remained behind and was burned by luke (hence why he burned that instead of just the body of the “good” man anakin skywalker.) My only possible thoughts are:
1.) This trailer description is slightly off or misleading about that detail
2.) Anakin didn’t fully become one with the force and only appeared to Luke once due to his final redemptive act despite never learning the ability to become a ghost so his remains stayed and the lucas’ statement is retconned.
3.) It looks really cool so JJ & crew didn’t really care about / notice that one bit of lore and it is just an oversight.
4.) Someone else wore vader’s mask (very unlikely)
5.) I’m reading to much into this

One thing to notice is that Obi-Wan and Yoda both vanished instantly whereas we saw Vader die and remain on screen. Luke even struggled to carry the body onto the shuttle before the Death Star blew up so there was clearly something in the suit.

Also, I was just thinking…would Vader’s ghost include his old limbs? Would the mechanical limbs remain in the suit if he vanished?

That was when Lucas had a small laps of insanity when he said the PT would be about warriors fighting in their prime, not old men and machines. Then he relapsed back into insanity and created Dooku and Grievous.

True. Dooku and Grievous were terrible enemies. Truly awful. The poor stuntman with CGI’d Christopher Lee head was awful too. All round terrible. Maul was a great villain and there was real scope to expand on his character. Same goes for Qui Gon actually, the only character I liked and whom was well acted in the prequels.

I dunno. The rumors we’ve heard sounded like these new films would have a fresh but grounded take. And from what we’ve seen from the teaser, I assumed so.

But from the trailer 2 descriptions we are getting, if they turn out to be true, It makes 7 look like it’s just rehashing old ideas. The sets and props may be fresh, but the power dynamic, the story arcs, they all sound very generic.

Say what you want about the prequels but they were reasonably fresh. At first the idea of a continuation after RotJ sounded like a dream come true. Now I’m more pessimistic. We shall see 😛

      My feelings exactly.

I wouldn’t worry too much, though (not yet, lol). The lameness of all these rumors make them appear as nothing but fan conceived fantasies rather than truth, IMO.

      • April 7, 2015 at 10:56 pm
        Permalink

To be fair you could summarise plot points from ALL the films and imagine them being at the heart of an awful film if pulled off poorly (as I’d argue the prequel films managed). I mean, ROTJ is a pretty decent film and I think most SW fans like it, but it effectively rehashed the first film with literally the same ultimate outcome (good guys blow up a Death star).

It all comes down to the way it’s done. The prequels could have been wholly different/better if they’d filmed it differently, had better actors for some key roles (Anakin mainly), more interesting and exciting direction, less reliance on CGI etc etc.

I trust that JJ understands what goes into making a good, classic Star Wars film which will live up to our expectations. It’s a thankless task but I hope and believe he is up to the job. Hearing plot points tells us nothing about how it actually will come across on screen. I expect to see exciting visuals, dramatic scenes and to see emotion and just the “coolness” we all miss from Star Wars making a grand return in December!

Sorry, but I disagree, DavidDesu. There’s a difference between a well thought-out rumor (like most that came from Spoilerman, for instance) and rumors that make no sense whatsoever from a clever story-telling viewpoint (like Luke’s frozen hand floating in space, fingers wrapped around a lightsaber hilt, as the opening scene). In short, some of these rumors sound foolish to no end, no matter how you might try to fit them into the overall story arc.

As for the PT, good or bad, loved or hated, those films are irrelevant at this point. It’s the ST that concerns us here. And in that sense, I couldn’t disagree more with you about Abrams.

It takes much, much more than being a fan and “understanding” Star Wars to make a good SW film. And so far Abrams has given me no reason to think that he’s capable of making a truly memorable SW film at the level of the OT; not one single reason.

His films are entertaining at best, though certainly not memorable. And besides, I don’t want a “good, classic Star Wars film”. Those are NOT my expectations. I want a NEW Star Wars film, capable of showing me how much the Rebels victory at Endor has come to change the galaxy over the last 30 some years, not a nostalgia-filled, rehash of the OT. I want to see Abrams and Kasdan going on a limb here, telling a realistic story that honors Yoda’s words: always in motion, the future is.

          • April 8, 2015 at 1:30 am
            Permalink

At least Abrams has the advantage telling a story that is moving away from the OT after a 30 year gap rather then run up TO it after starting 30 years prior.

That was madness and doomed from the start looking back.

          • April 8, 2015 at 1:53 am
            Permalink

Abrams does have the advantage of having a blank canvas staring right back at him, true. It remains to be seen if we’ll like what he ends up etching on that blank canvas, though.

As for the PT, I have no qualms with those films in the very least. You might look at it as madness doomed from the start looking back. That’s your decision, and I respect it.

To me, the madness is hoping that an above-avg. director will be the savior of the franchise when no film made by Abrams to the date indicates that he’s up to the challenge. Again, it remains to be seen if he’ll deliver.

I agree that to expect this new trilogy to capture the same feel and sentiment of the OT is asking too much of this generation. As a culture we have changed and I would argue the very things that made Star Wars so special and timeless are now looked on as campy and naive such as the hard line theme between good and evil.

Indeed this is Star Wars for a new generation and those who forget that are setting themselves up for disappointment.

I agree, but this makes sense if the context is right that Kylo Ren is the grandchild of Vader (though Leia and Han) and is really interested in his past and lineage. It’s not like they are bringing Vader back from the dead or something.. They are just using the past to connect to the present. It’s not a biggie. It doesn’t effect Vader as a character.

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJ5hD9K6Cn8

In order for this statement to continue to be true, it has to be about Vader’s legacy to a certain extent. Years later, it appears to still be true.

    • April 7, 2015 at 4:41 pm
      Permalink

Because the 6 core movies and then this upcoming trilogy are Skywalker centric. It’s a story about the Skywalker legacy from beginning to end. They are still looking for the chosen one. It was supposed to be Anakin. Luke is too powerful, that’s why he hides in exile. Kira is the chosen one. LUKE will train her to bring balance to the Force and Galaxy. They must complete the story.

  • April 7, 2015 at 4:05 pm

Disturbing the remains of the most powerful Jedi ever probably isn’t good karma.

If I do have one request for TFA, JJ and company properly explain/justify the entire Anakin prophecy.

    • April 7, 2015 at 11:26 pm

The Annakin story is complete. He WAS the chosen one and brought balance to the force. The Jedi were too numerous, and had grown power hungry. They involved themselves in politics and were ready to take over the central government.

Annakin helped wipe most of them out and reshaped the Force.

I dont understand why people cant see this. They were right about Annakin being the chosen one; they just had the wrong idea about what the Chosen One was supposed to do.

      • April 7, 2015 at 11:37 pm
        Permalink

        Exactly.

And what’s more, this is implied in Ep. VII’s title. No need for the Force to awaken, if it hadn’t been dormant (i.e: balanced) since Anakin fulfilled his destiny.

Problem is that not too many seem to understand that no one said that the Chosen One would bring balance to the Force till the end of times. The Chosen One was just merely supposed to bring balance to the Force at a time when it was covered in darkness. And that Anakin did when he helped to wipe out the Sith and the Jedi both.

Something could easily happen to bring the Force out of balance again…thus awakening light and dark sides both, as stated by Serkis’ voice in the teaser.

Plus we have to pass the time somehow by analyzing and pondering what we want & don’t want. As long as people give the movie a fair chance when it comes out then all the freaking out is just in good fun.
