Small Update on Star Wars: Battlefront.

star-wars-battlefrontDuring a third quarter earnings call, Electronic Arts officially confirmed that the highly anticipated third installment of the Star Wars: Battlefront franchise will be released together with The Force Awakens. Find out more on this update after the jump.

EA also confirmed that we can expect more details on Star Wars: Battlefront “in the next couple of months”. Here’s what else they said.

From videogamer.com:

Star Wars Battlefront will release “before Christmas” and the game will be “aligned with” The Force Awakens, EA’s chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen said.

“We’re extremely excited about that and we think there is huge potential for that title.”

“More to come in the next couple of months on that as more about the movie comes out as well as more about our titles comes out, but you should consider that a very large activity for us next [financial] year and very large focus, similar to how we thought about Battlefields in the past.”

Still it remains unclear whether the game will be released before or after TFA. The developer is aiming for the game to be “the best Star Wars shooter of all time”. It is expected to be released for PS4, Xbox One and PC.

When I saw that in engine footage I went all emotional, mind you, that doesn’t happen so fast with me seeing starwars games. I start to believe that this Battlefront ediion can really tap in our Starwars memory and let us feel like eighties teens again. just..wauw..

I’m still left wondering if they’ll retain the old “instant action” offline play option that was available in I and II.

I mean, I believe they haven’t included that in the last couple of Battlefield games but… still hoping they have that.

Indeed, I really miss offline battles in the latest Battlefield games. Also I would like to see a similar campaign mode like BF 1 and 2. I really hope they can fit this into the game.

Looks EPIC. The graphics are spot on, they really captured the vibe and look of Endor, and Hoth as well. Very excited to play this game.

This should be a November release….having it out a solid month before Xmas would be beneficial.

Nope, how would they handle the spoilers from the Star Wars movie then?

The game isn’t tied to TFA, so they won’t have to worry. That is assuming EA wasn’t lying when they said that

You know it isn’t connected to TFA? How do you know this??

I I think he means a companion app. Like the one for battlefield 4 that let you reign missiles down on the map

It certainly looks pretty… I’m concerned though, as a fan of the battlefield series I saw the “fun” drain out of it a bit over time, I payed for BF4 premium & never really played the expo packs because I got bored. But I have faith that since it’s SW they will evolve the franchise in a way that will make it fun… hopefully with Rift support.

It would be really cool to get a new X wing or Tie Fighter type of game… X wing alliance with the graphics patch isn’t too bad but I could only imagine what production quality like this could produce when brought into Star Wars. Maybe they are waiting for the films to come out so that they can utilize the ships that we’ll see in the movies.

A new Dark Forces game would be pretty bad ass as well. Outside of the games I’m not a big EU fan, but wouldn’t mind playing as Kyle Katarn again!

Even this wont get me to leave my 360. I wont be coerced by mandatory online for most titles or even by making star wars games exclusively for new systems. You wont break me.

I wish we could destroy a capital ship, and if you are inside, there is a countdown of a few seconds before it explodes, so, you have to enter a ship and escape. Would be very funny to leave your friends behind to death while you escape in the only ship available hahahahaha

I swear if they turn this game into a fricken battlefield clone an get rid of all the things that made the 1st 2 awesome then I’m gonna be Fricken pissed like how Sabine interrupted heras conversation with me when I Ws briefing her about the supplies that I had left for them for their next mission

Please don’t, by this Christmas Xbones will probably be like $250. 360 will just bottleneck the game’s ambition

Hey Dice, i really hope you keep and overhaul the Jedi gameplay. i want a combat system like jedi knight with locking sabers, backflip jump and force power according to the alignement and the character. But over all, i want maps with both spatial and ground combat. And make the teamwork really valuable and worst the work. i ve too often seen the clone transport ship with 1 or 2 clones only in it
