More Information on 2015’s Wave of Star Wars: The Force Awakens Toys!

Star-Wars-ToysA few days ago, we got a vague outline of the kind of toys that we’ll be seeing in regards to Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. Now, more toy news has come along revealing what else we will see in the coming months – for both Episode VII and everything else. Plus: find out which character shown in the teaser trailer may show up on all of the packaging for toys related to the upcoming film…

First according to one of JediNews’ sources The Force Awakens toy line is expected to hit the stores on September 4. Here’s their report.

From JediNews:

Following on from the list of Hasbro product information relating to The Force Awakens over at our friends Rebelscum, it seems that there’s more product to come from Hasbro before then it terms of products to support the digital releases of the films probably in time for May 4th although that date could be sooner. We have images and details about 6 box sets that will be released (similar in look and style from the 2011 Blu-ray Commemorative Sets) that will be released around the same time, click on the images for a closer look.

The text in the first image states ‘LEFT SIDE PANELS CREATE A COMPLETE COLLAGE WHEN LINED UP. WE WILL COMMISSION A NEW ILLUSTRATION THAT FEATURES THE CHARACTERS INCLUDED IN THE ASSORTMENT AND FITS THE SPACE PRECISELY ‘. It looks as though all the figures will be from Saga Legends, which feature five points of articulation and have all been released before. It should be noted that no female figures are represented.

There is also an outline of the Lego products headed our way.

LEGO news is also provided that reveals at least five sets being released in June: –

  • 75091 Classic Flash Speeder £34.99
  • 75092 Naboo Starfighter £54.99
  • 75093 Death Star Final Duel £69.99
  • 75094 Imperial Shuttle Tydirium £79.99
  • 75106 Imperial Assault Carrier £99.99

…and another 13 sets coming later in the year…

We’ve been told that the Millennium Falcon and X-Wing are two of the listed Episode VII LEGO sets.

Lego Star Wars

So, when are those last 13 Lego sets slated to arrive? According to the rumor, the Lego models, along with many other toys (action figures included) for The Force Awakens, hit the shelves on September 4, 2015. To put that into perspective, the first wave of action figures for Revenge Of The Sith hit on April 2, 2005 in line with the movie’s May 19 release date – a little over a month and two weeks. With the gap between the alleged date and the release of the movie, that means that we’ll be seeing toys a whole three months and two weeks before the opening crawl graces the big screen!

But that’s not all – Making Star Wars has a rumor to share: Kylo Ren, the wielder of the crossblade lightsaber, will appear on all of the packaging for these products. This would have a degree of precedence, given that Darth Maul was featured prominently on the packaging to toys promoting The Phantom Menace. I’m personally really excited for these toys because of the information that they will bring with them – heck, I’m even looking forward to seeing the packaging and the little plot details we’ll end up learning for them! September 4 can’t come soon enough.

“It should be noted that no female figures are represented.”

Why not? Leia’s image is on the packaging, but she doesn’t get her own action figure? ^_-

Meanwhile, there’s two types of battle droids, two types of stormtroopers, two young Obi-Wan Kenobis, two non-Boba Fett OT bounty hunters… and an Ewok. Okay…

Dude, toys have been giving away spoilers to movies, tv series and cartoons since the early 90’s. Ever heard of a magazine called Lee’s Toy Review? I’m surprised it took the world almost 25 years to catch on.

I’m so old, I remember that Kenner mixed up the naming of 4-LOM and Zuckuss and that Zuckuss is actually the one that wears the coat!

Now, this may be a stretch as we are all probably assuming that the toy figure with the stormtrooper helmet is some sort of desert trooper (perhaps), but is there any chance that this figure is actually Kylo Ren? If you look carefully around the eyes of the helmet, you can see grooves that match some of the concept art floating around. Also, if this were a desert trooper, where’s the armor?

So (if all this is true) all this talk of being secretive about the movie details for sake of surprise only now to blow it with the toys months before the release? Defeats the point significantly where keeping characters a secret is concerned. Might as well tell us who’s who and show us Han Luke and Leia already! Otherwise you’re just being snobbish at this point.

The word is that they’re only really being secretive regarding the production itself. They’ll open up a whole lot when the ad campaign kicks into motion (but they won’t give the whole movie away).

The full trailer will have been released long before the release of the toy lines. (everything points to the trailer being attached to age of ultron, 1st may.)

This is what I am betting on. Everything regarding plot-information and such displayed on the toy-lines will already have been put forth in the full trailer.

Why release the toys before the movie? That’s a total spoiler, no? I guess its just a cash grab. Ill have to avoid looking at them until after the movie…

A majority of the merchandise for a movie comes out before the movie itself. This is just further in advance.

I doubt it’s going to spoil the whole plot of the movie. Bits and pieces, yes, but nothing huge – they’d save that for after the movie comes out.
