Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the Most Anticipated Movie for 2015!

Star Wars TFANo surprises here. According to a Fandango survey Star Wars beats Avengers 2 for most anticipated movie for 2015. Also Daisy Ridley is the “Biggest Female Breakout Movie Star” for 2015! John Boyega lost the first place in the category “Biggest Male Breakout Movie Star” to Jamie Dornan from “Fifty Shades of Grey,” the movie which trailer was the most watched one in 2014 leaving TFA teaser in second place…

From Variety:

That’s the takeaway from Fandango’s survey of the most anticipated films of 2015. The online ticketing company found that “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” is the film that moviegoers are most jazzed to see next year, while “Avengers: Age of Ultron” has to settle for runner-up status.

The Fandango poll shows just how sky high anticipation is for the return to a galaxy far, far away. An 88-second teaser for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” was viewed by more than 51 million fans on YouTube.

To get its results, Fandango polled 1,000 film fans on its website from Dec. 22 through Dec. 29. The company also looked at the biggest film stars and breakthrough performers going into the new year.

None of us are surprised at all…

but I bet Disney is surprised. To them, Star Wars is still a second-rate franchise, behind their precious men-wearing-tights dick flicks.

I sincerely hope not. Disney better know what it has on it’s hands. I’d like to think they do when they paid 4 billion dollars… but considering Microsoft paid 2 billion for minecraft… it suddenly doesn’t seem so pricey.

      Disney’s not surprised one bit.

They understand how huge this is. They had brains enough to extend the project a good 7 months and to get TFA the heck out of that feeding frenzy of a summer season and into that wide open winter period.

Come this time next year, expect that dinner bell to ring loud and clear for several months. You know, including those months infamous for releasing crap films.

How many times will you see it over 3 months? Might wanna start saving up… 😉

WTF?? 4 BILLION DOLLARS and Disney is out-of-touch, says the dude who just got back from the night shift at Taco Bell.

I “liked” the Taco Bell dude’s comment basically because it reflects my feelings about the billions of stupid Marvel movies that Disney is spewing out. Hopefully this mass-production of boring banality does not end up in Star Wars. When we refer to a series of movies as a “franchise” and talk about the next “instalment” we know we are going down the wrong path. Honestly I prefer less movies but well thought-out and higher quality

Star Wars has one teaser out. Marvel has… More than one teaser. OF COURSE DISNEY IS MAINTAINING IT’S WELL-LOVED FRANCHISE.
they are going to be releasing a butt-load of Star Wars movies, starting next year.

Marvel is making too many movies, agreed, but Avengers was cool, I defend what you deem as “dick-flicks”. Avengers is a well made movie, and about the tights… THERE ARE NO TIGHTS. These “dick-flicks” as you call them share a genre with Star Wars, and that is not a bad thing. Neither is being a dick a bad thing.
Need I quote Team America’s rather well composed “Dicks F@#$ P@#^^es” speech?

Silly statement, that! Disney, if they were initially a little slow to understand the magnitude of the Star Wars universe/franchise, it didn’t last long. They understand fully the exceptional money-making machine they’ve acquired and have set the wheels in motion to take full advantage of that over the next decade or so.

    Daisy who? John who?

With recent press releases, you’d think the only people in the film were Andy Serkis and Oscar Isaacs.

I remember when you guys were predicting how huge Star Wars was going to be. I agreed it’d be massive and do quite well but maybe not claim the #1 spot.

However the further this goes along and the bigger the hype is getting. I’m starting to believe. Entertainment weekly made the bold prediction it could break 3 billion. There only stipulation was that it needed to be good enough for repeat viewings.

That would be something wouldn’t it? I hope it all comes true.

If that happens and it rakes in ungodly amounts of dough… do you guys think they will go on to make Episodes X – XII?

I will be really sad it if ends on 9.

        BANE: Of course! (÷B

I expect them to take breaks in between the episodic trilogies to focus on other standalones and trilogies, but I don’t think for one second that the series will ever end. Not as long as they’re making uber money.

And as long as they’re quality entertaining films, I say bring ’em on! xD

Probably, but I think they’d wait at least six years after the release of Episode IX before they would make another trilogy of Episodes. (I heard that a while back, a trilogy based around the Old Republic era would be made during this time gap.)

“Entertainment weekly made the bold prediction it could break 3 billion.”

      They didn’t really did they?

That’s ridiculous to think it’s going to pass Avatar. That is the nonsensical type of thinking when people were predicting TPM could go past Titanic.

So when that doesn’t happen and from the way the box office is going now the chances are that might not match TPM in dollar amount.

Seems the 3D juicing the box office got might be over based on this years box office which is down 5% and the biggest decline since 2005’s 6%

BTW even in 2005 the domestic monster king movie that ROTS was still grossed 380 million. 90 million more than the next closest film even though everything else was down. If it had been an average year ROTS would have probably broken the 400M barrier.

If next year is like this year minus the expected success of Avengers then TFA will be hard pressed to match ROTS even with dollar amount. The 60 million ticket sale in tickets it got are a dream now save for the biggest of the big like Avengers 76 million.

The Dark Knight Rises sold less tickets than ROTS but due to higher prices made almost 450M. Iron Man 3 sold 49M tickets over 10 millions less than ROTS.

The foreign market has exploded since 2005, and that’s where a lot of money is made. The Force Awakens will easily be the most profitable movie in the franchise yet. Whether or not it clears $2-3 billion is another question entirely.

And someone should do a timeline chart of releases next year (the one above is just Disney.) It has to be some kind of record or something.

Even if Ridley is a Skywalker who wants to pay money to watch a woman fight?

I’ve never payed money to watch female boxing or mixed arts because both suck bigtime.

If I wanna watch boxing, I watch male boxing. Particularly the heavyweights.

That’s actually exciting…unlike a female Jedi Knight which is about as stupid, dull and uninteresting as you can get.

Look. No one cares if you don’t watch this movie. Man up, and get over yourself. And, to think, you crap on women for being awesome.

    Boyega #2???

This has to be propaganda, because all I hear online are negative comments about this dude.

Negative comments? You must be thinking about those keyboard warriors that can’t cope with the idea of not having a lead white male carry the films.

Other than that I can’t think of any reason why to have such negative criticism over someone you’ve only seen 5 seconds of.
