UPDATE! The Star Wars: Episode VII Wrap Party is Happening Tonight. Cast and Crew Get the Special Treatment.

Episode VII Hat

2 weeks ago Kathleen Kennedy revealed that there are still 3 weeks until Episode VII wraps filming. We already know of several cast members who wrapped their scenes (Anthony Daniels, Christina Chong, Oscar Isaac and Harrison Ford). Now it appears that more people are done filming and also it looks like everyone is getting a special treatment by LFL, Bad Robot and Disney…

James Rose posted the following really cool tweet:

It may not be very apparent but apart from the gratitude the letter is about the Episode VII hat that is slightly visible in the top of the picture. We’ve already seen it on Lupita and Boyega:

Day done! Knackered!

Still it looks not everybody is done with the filming. 🙂

Well, here’s a definite proof that Episode VII has indeed wrapped filming. Episode VII concept designer Will Htay has just posted this (via MagnarTheGreat):

Must be shooting scenes Carrie has without other major characters. I can see why they would shoot these last.

    • November 1, 2014 at 6:25 pm

Probably right, but just to speculate…Carrie is still filming, Mark is still there and just shaved his beard, cast and crew are starting to head home…might be a great time to film a secret “twist” under far less prying eyes?

  • November 1, 2014 at 5:35 pm

    ;if SW7 is as brilliantly heartfelt as that letter then it`s gonna be a truly great Star Wars movie…I`ve got a good feeling about this:}

    • November 1, 2014 at 5:44 pm

Yes. I want a movie with a HEART, which Clone Wars and Rebels have nothing of.

    • November 2, 2014 at 7:08 am

Episode VII… the movie without a name.

      Come on Disney….

  • November 1, 2014 at 5:56 pm

What a lovely note from JJ there. If he puts in just one iota of heart from the note into the script then I think we’re ok.

  • November 1, 2014 at 6:16 pm

…a small part of me (ok,a big part) still wishes that JJ was doing the whole trilogy – I know Ryan Johnson could be amazing but JJ just seems to completely get what Star Wars ia all about.

    • November 1, 2014 at 6:42 pm

But remember episode 8 has to be different. It can’t be a rehash and JJ proved with into darkness that he isn’t a stable choice to do sequels, particularly sequels that are supposed to get darker. Into darkness was a rehash. It even had the exact same character arcs. JJ is the perfect choice for episode vii as he understands how to start a story in motion, he’s brilliant at casting, he understands effects, understands star wars. He is great at creating something. But there are better directors out their to take something and then properly expand and deepen the story with a sequel.

      • November 1, 2014 at 7:08 pm

I never thought that, why ST into darkness was ok but not as good as ST.
        Great reflection and comment!

        • November 2, 2014 at 9:16 am

So once agsinwe ignore the fact the JJ didn’t write the script for Star Trek.

It’s incredible how little some people know about the film industry when they act like they know so much about what a Director is.

          It’s pretty silly.

          • November 2, 2014 at 6:48 pm

Sure, JJ didn’t write the script, but you mean to tell me he had no power to make changes to it, like remove the magical blood and cut back on the “Wrath of Khan” fan service?

      • November 1, 2014 at 7:13 pm

I actually liked Into Darkness, but fear not JJ is not directing Episode 8; Rian Johnson is directing it

        • November 1, 2014 at 8:16 pm

Into Darkness was a stupid fun movie when it could’ve been more competent had the script been thought out more carefully.

        • November 1, 2014 at 10:18 pm

I liked Into Darkness too tbh, but it wasn’t great and it wasn’t a proper sequel.

  • November 1, 2014 at 6:22 pm

    I want a VII hat J.J.!!!!

    • November 1, 2014 at 10:45 pm

I want a VII latex label for my car…. I considered just buying some roman numerals and place them myself but can’t find any… just paper stickers (will ruin your car…even on windows. Just say no to stickers!)

    • November 2, 2014 at 7:00 am

Instagram him, he’ll send you one.

  • November 1, 2014 at 6:26 pm

It just depends upon how well he helps to introduce the new characters on the screen. In Star Trek, I had a hard time getting into and caring about any of the new cast. At least in this case, the old established cast will be around to help make the transition.

    • November 1, 2014 at 8:30 pm

My main problem with JJ’s Star Trek character portrayals was that they were supercharged cartoony versions of the real thing rather than properly fleshed out characters in their own right.

Kirk was into chicks and was kind of a reckless but well-meaning asshole, Spock was too logical and emotionless (especially for a half-human), Bones said Bones-y things, Chekov was heavy on the accent, etc.

      • November 1, 2014 at 9:30 pm

Agreed. By “Into Darkness”, I was kind of relating to them a bit more, but not by a whole lot. Establishing new characters in a way that makes you care about wanting to watch them is a tricky thing. I’m hopeful for SW7 though.

  • November 1, 2014 at 6:45 pm

He destroyed Star Trek. I hope that he will not do the same with Star Wars.

  • November 1, 2014 at 7:40 pm

He made star trek big again and actually enjoyable

    • November 1, 2014 at 8:06 pm

As far as JJ’s Star Trek films are concerned, the directing is competent, the sfx are dazzling and the actors talented…

They just NEED better writers! o_O

      • November 1, 2014 at 11:13 pm

The only Star Trek movie before JJ that I found watchable was The Voyage Home, the one about the whale.

        • November 2, 2014 at 12:50 am

Where’s Nicholas Meyer when we need him?

        • November 2, 2014 at 1:12 am

The Voyage Home was an incredible piece of movie boredom.

          • November 2, 2014 at 1:32 am

            for some.

  • November 1, 2014 at 8:00 pm

I used to talk about Carrie’s ass all the time…. ^_^

    Now she won’t stop. -_-

Still, it’s lovely to have her back again. =P

  • November 1, 2014 at 9:11 pm

Her ass ain’t what it used to be

    • November 2, 2014 at 12:48 am

Hmm. Thinking about Carrie’s ass in 2014 is like looking into a mirror and seeing how old I’ve become.

CARRIE: It’s not the years, honey; it’s the skid marks.

You can always count on her to say some shit like that. Daisy’s sure got some big shoes to fill. 😛

    • November 2, 2014 at 1:06 am

It may not look like much but she’s got it where it counts kid!

      • November 2, 2014 at 1:26 am

well, it’s not her ass and definitely not her boobs (also gone) so I can’t imagine where else she has it where it counts. she has a strange way of speaking now and it looks like she got hit in the mouth with a sledgehammer.

despite all that, I’m sooo glad she is back as Leia even though they’ll probably keep her scenes to a minimum.

        • November 7, 2014 at 7:37 am

who the f*=k are you people to say such nasty shit about strangers. I bet a million dollars that if this screen were gone and replaced by your face the mere sight of seeing your black troll eyes and limitless ugliness would burn my eyesn out of my head and had I not turned my head to keep from this terrible thing you do when people look at you (the reason im assuming your either asian, or living at home in the basement dark in the company of only Minecraft and your Dream. You only dreamed the one. You know The one thats never gonna happen) And so eye burner shut up about how people look on film. Your never ever gonna be… Unless Marvel makes EyeBurner into a Super Hero in which case… no they’d pass on you then too.

  • November 1, 2014 at 9:13 pm

That picture of the letter isn’t real clear, who signed it besides JJ and Kathleen?

    • November 2, 2014 at 1:31 am

      George Lucas

    • November 2, 2014 at 4:00 am

After Kathleen Kennedy it says Bryan…..That’s Bryan Burke another producer. Can’t tell who the tic tac toe board signature is.

  • November 1, 2014 at 9:34 pm

    Shame he can’t spell HONOUR!

  • November 1, 2014 at 9:51 pm

So 7 more days of filming is left? Then post production.

-John Williams does score? Or has he already?
    -Movie trailers are put together.
    -Actors get paid.

Not sure what else happens in post production? What can you think of?

    • November 2, 2014 at 1:30 am

      Distribution details. Theater screening logistics.

      • November 2, 2014 at 2:58 am

        hate test screenings.
Why common people with poor cinema opinions can change the “work” of possible great artists?
Come on! They don’t like the final of a movie, they put in a paper, and the final has to be changed.
        It’s sick…

        • November 3, 2014 at 5:57 pm

The ending to the movie Blade was saved with test screenings. Not always a bad thing.

Imagine if Lucas listened to PT screenings by fans. Jar Jar cut and CGI Anakin.

    • November 3, 2014 at 9:13 pm

so so so much happens in post and most don’t understand or know. Editing, marketing (they usually have 6+ trailer editors editing different ideas, one gets picked), marketing-specific VFX (finishing certain “hero” shots earlier than the sequences’ schedules), reshoots/pickups, sound design, the entire VFX pipeline and finishing process, writing music, recording music, ADR (dialogue re-recording), DI/finishing (conforming HD “offline” edit to 2K/4K online high-res), color grading, sound mixing… I could go on.

Oh, and understand every process I listed above goes through director review, notes, revision, notes, revision, notes, revision, pending final approval, notes… more notes… final approval. It all takes a lot of time and endless hours of work by an army of people 🙂

  • November 1, 2014 at 10:51 pm

    British =

    • November 2, 2014 at 12:15 am

      No. American’s can’t spell.

      • November 3, 2014 at 6:06 pm

        It’s “Americans”

  • November 2, 2014 at 1:27 am

Stop referencing Star Trek. That chapter is over.

  • November 2, 2014 at 1:28 am

Americans can take care of their teeth though. And they know how to properly use apostrophes (“American’s”—???).
    Regarding spelling, how about…

    dental hygiene

    • November 2, 2014 at 8:30 am

Oh so you’re going to get personal towards Brits? We invented this language. Don’t try to steal it like you stole your own country from the natives.

Go play Call Of Duty and get programmed into killing some more, you fat arrogant piece of shit.

      • November 2, 2014 at 5:38 pm

Um, you Brits stole our country from the natives, then sicced them on us.

  • November 2, 2014 at 1:39 am

Anyone remember that scene in Bond where the captured agent waxed on about fearing that MI6 might find out Quantum, but “the truth is, you don’t know anything at all?”

    SW7 Production + Fans/Media = That.

  • November 2, 2014 at 5:27 am

Jar Jar Abrams better not screw this up.

  • November 2, 2014 at 6:11 am

Funny how we can now say we’ll have a trailer “next month.”

  • November 2, 2014 at 6:13 am

Leia to act independently weird end of last act. that actually compliments new character independent heroics, both adding together to defeat new prior all conquering power of episode nemisis.

cause Leia’s the force Empress galactic reaction to greater Sidious types of power…

& that’s why Han gave up smuggling for Leia 🙂

    • November 2, 2014 at 7:08 am

what the fuck are you talking about?!

      • November 2, 2014 at 2:29 pm

I’m talking about the balance of the force, the keepers of the cosmos, the meadows of time, & Amythall’s return, who Leia must forgo her mortal traces beside before the first day of the planets can shine throughout the new era of the galaxy.

        • November 2, 2014 at 6:58 pm

Dude. Chain yourself to a bedpost, and let gravity take the wheel. See you manãna. Crazy fuck.

  • November 2, 2014 at 8:52 am

    It’s a twrap!

  • November 2, 2014 at 6:48 pm

“How lovely it would be if you had, in addition to your name on the screen, some actual real tangible proof that you were part of it! Here, then, is that proof. Wear it well, wear it healthily, wear it proudly”
Probably a reference to those actors/actresses who’s faces won’t be seen/recognizable in EpVII.

  • November 3, 2014 at 12:41 am

Probably insignificant and my ignorance but James Rose is ‘@AdmiralPallaeon’…a hint of character???!!!
