UPDATE! Rumor: Description of Daisy Ridley’s Home in Episode VII?

Abu Dhabi

MakingStarWars posted a very detailed description of what appears to be the home of Daisy Ridley’s character in Episode VII…

From MakingStarWars :

On a desert planet, there’s a canyon, sandy and brown. In front of the canyon is a downed AT-AT walker, laying on its side. A young girl sits atop of the mechanical beast’s head. She gazes outward towards the end of the canyon where her hopes and dreams may one day be realized, not unlike Luke Skywalker yearning for more from his mundane life.  For now, this is her home, the wreckage of years of intergalactic warfare. The legs of the AT-AT are partially obscured by sand at the “ankles” but pop out at the feet. This walker has been there for some time and nature has began to take the machine into the earth. The AT-AT lays on its left side, its head levelled by the dirt from which its head smashed into during a battle some time ago. The right side of the body of the AT-AT faces upwards, battle scared, shot by many laser blasts which no doubt brought the machine down. Battle wreckage is littered all around the fallen beast. This is the dwelling of the new hero from Star Wars: Episode VII.

The underbelly has large pieces of cloth draped over it to protect the dwelling from the environment. A small ship is hidden inside the belly, like a garage. In the distance you can see TIE-Fighters which have been downed into the sane. AT-ST head sits, its body below the dirt. You can see another AT-AT body in the distance, its coverings eroded away with time.

I’m not sure if this is a concept art description or something else but it sounds really cool and I hope it’s true. And it fits with the AT-AT foot we saw from the Abu Dhabi filming.

AT AT
Not Episode VII Related

UPDATE!

A comment posted over at StarWars-Union.de (via MagnatTheGreat) seems to support that rumor. Also I’ve heard from another source that MSW’s description is most likely legit:

(translated with Google)

so far I have all the spoilers umlesen clever, but if heading I HAD daily to get a confirmation. And so let my info out of the bag SPOILER WARNING . . . . . . . YES, in Abu Dhabi, a location was designated “Kira’s House” and this led to an AT-AT-wreck (which at that time known gespoiltem foot ). I has always been in the belief that the name of the location has nothing to do with the character. Finally, there was also Lucas Valley, Pecker’s Valley, etc. It would not be unusual, “code name” to use in the film business. Letztich the set was indeed not been referred to as SW-set and excellent. This spoiler it brings in a whole new light

Addendum: SPOILER WARNING: . . . noticed and probably fits the description like a glove auf’s eye. The part was in the sand. So the legs and the torso – an impressive image. The upper part was in my opinion a blue screen wall construction. A head did not have the part. The scene was an impressive backdrop and I will never forget in his lifetime … The character is actually supposed to mean Kira, I still will not believe but. I once googled “Kira’s House” and found out that it was a location from Teen Wolf. In this respect I had always considered it a code name.

This would be a very cool way to introduce her character. Also, do you guys have any info on the Phil Tippet returning rumor?

Did you even read the article at all? It said the AT-AT is on a desert planet. What happens in the desert besides it being hot? The wind blows. And what happens when the wind blows? Sand gets blown around by the wind and what happens to the sand that that gets blown around? It gets deposited elsewhere and when it gets deposited elsewhere things like abandoned cars and AT-ATs get covered, and eventually become buried by the sand. Amazing huh?

Kira’s House is a reference to a character from Teenwolf TV series, Kira Yukimura. Google her and it’s a absolute revelation, and possibly the most significant piece of information to surface so far about EpVII.

Wow dude that Kira link to Teen Wolf is pretty crazy. Ned Vizzini wrote some episodes for Teen Wolf and was writing for Abrams on a project before he passed away. Very Beautiful Mind connection and probably a coincidence, maybe?

Doesn’t anyone in this movie live in a nice place like Queen Amidala?

Yeah, surely there must be a few places that were abandoned by the Empire that were pretty swanky and up-for-grabs…. Maybe Theed got crappy after the Empire took over, and it just wasn’t the same place anymore.

Not particularly a fan of the idea that she’s living in an old at-at .. Plus it sounds like she isn’t the daughter of Han and Leia after all which is a shame

My guess is that the wires are somehow crossed here and that it is Boyega’s character that is living out of the AT-AT when Daisy come across him… and stays with him there. After all, other costuming reports suggested that Boyega was dressed in complete tatters as though he had just been rolled in off the street. An AT-AT would be the Star Wars version of a cardboard box for the homeless, which there is at least some suggestion that Boyega fits that mold (albeit ignoring the rumor of him being a stormie on the lam, but that could still work if this is where he is hiding out to avoid Gwen). Just some thoughts.

“Kira’s Home” is perhaps just code, see the references to Teen Wolf… plus such use of code is perhaps deliberate to help throw people off the pot scent.

And who is to say there can’t be a scene where Daisy sits astride the AT-AT looking out across the landscape at the double sunset with the Skywalker theme playing, even if it is Boyega’s “home”?

“Maybe they shouldn’t call this Episode VII if they’re starting over from scratch?”

Nope. The original cast is returning 30 years later on the SW timeline to pass the torch on to the next generation. “Episode VII” is perfectly appropriate, Skywalker/Solo or not.

You guys are taking things to the extreme. No one is saying that they want everyone to be related. People are just speculating on the familiar. Luke and Leia were Anakin’s children and important to the saga, so quit acting like this is some surprise conclusion with some of the new cast.

I’m grateful for brand new unrelated characters, but I would find it strange if the big 3 plus plus Lando never bothered to have any kids over 30 years.

What an epic sounding location. This is the coolest rumor I’ve heard yet and it’s only a location description.

Seriously could it feel anymore Star Wars while still being new? Truly awesome. I hope this one is true…

Also it starts the whole mythos of epic things have happened in the SW universe and we didn’t get to see them. Just like the OT! So a major battle was fought on a desert world and it didn’t go well for the empire…

    Again… I love this.

So we have a star wars film where the hero starts out on a sandy planet looking out at the distant beyond.. Hmm this sounds rather familiar.. I’m all for ignoring the garbage prequels, but I don’t want this trilogy to just copy the OT. Was it not JJ who said “I think the key to moving forward on something like this is honoring but not revering what came before.” ?

    A few things

    [Spoiler Caution]

Daisy’s character name is in fact Kira. I think their was confusion on this (people assumed it was a code name posted on dressing room/wardrobe doors), but given the fact that the characters are being called by their actual names on set (at least in large crowd scenes), this dispels that assumption. After all, why use a code name everywhere else but on set, where its most useful? I for one think the name is classic, not to mention referencing a major Lucas influence, Kirosawa.

All stories (the world over) share the same structure, regardless of new paths and plots. You only have to consider this to know that Kira will have to undergo a ‘change’ (in this case loss, training, and adventure),…which means she and most any other major youth in the film) is not a Jedi from the get go. Even though its over 30 years later and we assume any and all connected to the Skywalkers will be seasoned Jedi badasses. That’s simply not how story arcs work. There has to be a dilemma, a challenge to overcome.

Think of an ordinary girl with spirit, toiling away on her uncle’s farm while her brother is out with Dad cruising the Galaxy and moms always away on political business and you might have a more accurate picture of her character.
