UPDATE 2! Rumor: Are These the New Star Wars: Episode 7 Stormtroopers? More Variants Possible.

Ralph Mc Quarrie Art Indie Revolver appears to have an exclusive first look at the Stormtroopers from Episode VII. Hit the jump to check them out… From IndieRevolver:

The sequel Stormtrooper helmet feels like a natural continuation from the original, but there are distinct differences. The helmet is not symmetrical – there’s only one breather/vent on the bottom near the mouth, on his left side. The black “mouth” area under the white nose plate appears to be a cloth/mesh (which you can better see in the detail shot below). The eye lenses are still separate, but set into a black frame to connect them and give the illusion of one single piece.

A couple people have referred to this as a “Jungle Trooper,” but I have a few good reasons to believe that this is actually an update to the Empire Strikes Back’s Snowtrooper. This new helmet has a flared dome and a single thin horizontal eyepiece to it (as we first saw described at Making Star Wars) and appears to have a removable face mask.

Here are some interesting quotes from CBM spotted by MagnarTheGreat from the SHH Forums:

The first pic (actually the second in this article): they are 110% NOT called “Jungle Troopers”, They’re Incendiary Troopers(a new class) and carry flame-throwers. They’re used in a part of the film that takes place on a planet with huge forests covered in snow!

imdb Sorry dudes, can’t spill the beans yet, waaaaay to far from any official release, but trust me, from the things i’ve been told SW7 is in extremely good hands and a lot of the rumors thus far are KINDA close!

Finally freelance digital artist Juan Fernandez who is working in the comic book industry for companies like Marvel and DC, sent us this great looking concept art he did based on what we’ve seen so far. You can definitely see that there’s nothing in common with the sketch from a few days ago. We made a slight edit to the image based on the IndieRevolver’s description (only one vent near the mouth).

UPDATE 2!

Pomojema here with this update. So, you stayed tuned. Good call!   Anyway, the folks at Latino-Review have clarified some information about the Stormtroopers. Firstly, they confirmed that the Stormtrooper helmet with the wide, arched visor is in fact the “standard issue” helmet for the vast majority of Imperial soldiers. Secondly, the one that isn’t going to be called the “Jungletrooper” (with the thin visor) is actually not going to be for desert operations, but is in fact the brand new Snowtrooper model. L-R also supported the claim that guys are equipped with flamethrowers (kind of odd that the Snowtroopers that led the invasion of Hoth didn’t have these at all, come to think of it).

snowtroopers1 Third, they saved the best bit of information for last.

These aren’t the only variations on Troopers we’ll see. If you remember, we have been chasing rumors of a black and/or chrome Stormtrooper and I’m going to double down on one of those: There is a chrome Stormtrooper and s/he appears this way because that armor has the power to CLOAK. Invisible Trooper! Good for stalking. Much WOW!

This is, of course, referring to the Gwendoline Christie rumors from a few weeks back. Knowing that there could still be more varieties of Imperial soldiers to come is a very interesting possibility to entertain. Bear in mind, this is all from a gossip site that should be taken with a certain amount of Sodium Chloride, but nonetheless it’s good to hear more and more confirmation that yes, these are the new “faces” of the Empire’s army. Let’s just hope they’re better shots this time around.
