Harrison Ford UPDATE.

The world’s most watched ankle/leg injury gets some good news after the jump . . .

Websites all around the world (just Google it) hung on erroneous reports from Britain’s tabloid “The Sun” by forwarding these reactionary rumors from “inside sources.” The original “Sun” article can’t be referenced as that site requires a membership. Anyway, here’s their original “report” (via Hollywood.com):

It has now emerged that he will not be able to return to film Star Wars: Episode VII for six months as he needs rehab treatment for his left limb, which was fixed with a number of metal plates during surgery this week (beg16Jun14).

A source tells Britain’s The Sun newspaper, “Shooting is continuing, but Harrison won’t be back for months… the film company is looking into extending filming well into the second half of this year to allow Ford time to get back on his feet.”

Harrison Ford - crutch - Star Wars Episode 7

Well, Harrison has been spotted around Britain, attending parties, with the use of a special peg crutch as reported by our own Dekka129:

This latest report comes not from the usual fan sites, but from People Magazine’s website. However, it does contain some new information from a representative of iWalk, the company that makes the “peg leg” crutch that Harrison Ford has been seen using to hop around London over the past several days.

Iknow

According to a new report from another UK media outlet, this time the Mirror, they cite not unknown and anonymous sources for their report, but none other than personal trainer Jake Steinfeld of “Body By Jake” fame. Jake has been Harrison’s friend and trainer for over 30 years. He is currently working with Mr. Ford and had this to say about the actor’s rehab:

“He’s getting in shape now. He’s feeling great and he’s rehabbing it. He and I have been friends for a long time, over 30 years, and he is in great shape. He is going to get back even better than he was, and I’ve been monitoring it with him. He’s feeling great and is in great spirits […] It’s not that bad. He’s coming back and is going to be better than ever. He’s 70 going on 27.”

So great news from a reliable source that Harrison could return on the shorter side of that 6 to 8 week time frame, certainly NOT the laughable six months rumor from that rag “The Sun.” And it sounds very encouraging that Ford is in high spirits and determined to get back quickly though the time table, as far as we’re aware, has not been amended.

However long it takes, it cannot be understated how awesome a professional Harrison Ford has been throughout the new era of Star Wars. Before the D-Day announcement of 2012 it was pretty much a forgone conclusion that Ford would never reprise his role as Han Solo. Not only has he agreed to come back, but he’s also endured yet another set accident and injury. Speaking for the fan-base we cannot thank you enough, Mr.Ford, for your devotion to the saga and the character and we await your speedy return!!!

The Sun sells lies on a daly basis and shouldn’t be believed on any level. Good on Harrison for being a trooper taking it like a man and not a pussy.

I’m not sure if any of you guys here have seen Long Way Down with Ewan McGregor, but in that documentary series, Ewan fractured his fibia (the thinner of the 2 bones in the lower leg) and was up on his motorcycle riding down through Africa in 5 weeks, granted Ewan is a bit more spry than Harrison, but I think that given the recovery time stated and the fact that Harrison is doing so well, this was likely the injury he sustained as well. Ol’ Han will be right as rain in no time. 🙂

Snake Plisskin had a limp why not Han Solo. Give him a peg leg and a claw for a hand while we’re at it. It’s and adventure tale in galaxies full of war and conflict.
