UPDATE 2! Star Wars: Episode 7 Cast Members Oscar Isaac & Andy Serkis Interviews. Filming With Cast Members to Start at the End of May?

star wars

Oscar Isaac and Andy Serkis both briefly discussed the upcoming movie, the cast, J.J. Abrams and more. Isaac also gave a hint that filming with cast members will probably start at the end of the month…

Isaac interview from Empire Online:

In the beginning of the interview he states that :

“I could not be more excited to be a part of the Star Wars saga. It still seems hard to believe. Star Wars is a huge part of my family. Collecting toys, throwing themed parties. We had a big one for Return of the Jedi. I came as a gonk droid.”

He goes on to say he is confident in his Director J.J. Abrams.

“There are some big movies that are quite good. And interesting, and have interesting stories. I think one person in particular is JJ, JJ Abrams. He makes really good stories. He puts a lot of heart into them. They don’t feel like they’re just exploitive.”“

“I think there are a lot of different films you can be surprised by, and that have the element of the unknown and I think it is very important. It’s very important. That’s why I do understand some secrecy with certain films, not wanting to let it out.”

So don’t expect a whole lot of plot leaks as security is very tight from what we’ve been hearing. I for one think its a good thing that we will hopefully not be getting plot spoilers I wouldn’t want to know plot spoilers, would you?

Hey guys, Viral here. Thanks to dandino for the article. Here are two new related updates:

UPDATE!

In another interview Isaac revealed that filming with the cast should start at the end of May: (via tv3.ie)

“[We start shooting] end of this month. It’s incredibly exciting because [when] I grew up… my family [have always been] huge, huge fans.”

“My uncle and cousin collect the toys and have Star Wars parties. When I told them, they had the biggest nerd-gasm. There is nothing I could possibly have said that would have, or could ever, top that.”

So could this possibly mean that the filming that is reportedly taking place in Abu Dhabi right now is made by a second unit with no cast members?
Isaac could mean that he starts filming at the end of May not the whole cast. The “we start shooting” part seems to be added by the site who posted the article.

I bet that when official filming with cast members starts Lucasfilm will release an official photo from the set. This will be a day long remembered!

UPDATE 2!

And a few bits from Andy Serkis. From BBC:

Andy Serkis says he is “extremely excited” about his upcoming performance in Star Wars: Episode VII.

The actor, best known for playing Gollum in the Lord of the Rings franchise, says he “can’t quite believe” he has a role in the film.

“It’s a wonderful, wonderful cast, really beautiful director, great atmosphere… Star Wars was my childhood, so it’s fantastic,” he said.

The 50-year-old also said security around the script is “very tight”.

He added: “You can’t wander off with it.”

Serkis has also launched his own studio, The Imaginarium, which specialises in performance capture – the kind of filming he used with Peter Jackson in the Lord of the Rings films.

    Two reasons this rules.
    A) this dude is a great actor, as llewyn davis you dont know if you should love him or hate him.
    B) he knows what a gonk droid is.

I don’t want to know the plot in detail but a log line would be nice.

To me, Oscar Isaac resembles an older Ezra Bridger from the Rebels animated series. Ezra was born in the same year as Luke Skywalker which is 19 BBY soo he should be still alive unless he dies in the animated series. Maybe Oscar could be a relative/son of Ezra. Also, Andy Serkis could be Zeb Orrelios.

You do know the difference between a 34-year-old Oscar Isaac and a 63-year-old Mark Hamill, right?

A Gonk:) I can imagine it, two cardboard boxes stuck together and painted blue with a muffled gonk sound coming out of it. With some kid (O.I.) inside who cant see anything.
I guess with Zachary Quinto sending his audition via phone to Abrams and getting the job is the way to go
Did O.I. just send in the late 80s video of him dressed up as gonk outside the movie theater with friends throwing popcorn at him and calling him a wanker. Come to think of it that’s not the way to score a girl in a Princess Leia bikini my advice from a trusted source is if you stay still and don’t move they will sit on your head. I wonder who that video tape was sent to?

Maybe Oscar Isaac will play a Han Solo-type character. I wonder if he’ll get Daisy. Will there be a love triangle? Could we have two romantic subplots throughout the ST?

I’m surprised nobody’s mentioned a character I’d think he’d be perfect for! I know the EU is out of the window but with some characters in the movie sharing ‘themes’ of those EU characters, I think Isaac would make a really good Jagged Fel or someone of that nature

MAN…i was ready to post almost the same comment when i red yours….YOU ARE ABSOLUTE RIGHT….Jagged Fel is a 100% role for Issac

I wonder if Serkis is going to use his own Mo-Cap suite for it? It’d save on expense somewhat for Disney, and it does mean that he could do the work remotely and send it on. Although, given what we saw with the tech demo video that has enabled them to spend less time on post production ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdsFEMDceNg ), it might be a bit too high-spec for his studio….

If you haven’t seen Inside Llewyn Davis, I HIGHLY recommend it. I’m a big Cohen Brothers fan anyway but this was my favorite since O Brother Where Art Thou? If you like movies with nice, tight bows wrapped around the endings, then skip it.
I think Llewyn Davis was meant to be completely unlikable but I found myself routing for him throughout. He was kind of a douche but at the same time, always tried to do the right thing and tried his hardest to chase his dream but kept getting kicked in the teeth. Reminds me of me. He’ll do a great job in Star Wars.

Yes, you should always admire people who remind you of the qualities that you
yourself possess. That’s why I’m a huge fan of Han Solo.

    So…

Andy Serkis couldn’t even confirm if his character will be real or CGI/Mo-Cap?

Man, security *is* tighter around this thing that it was around Death Star II.

Ah yes… Security around the Death Star II.

And how did that work out for them?

    • May 14, 2014 at 10:24 pm

It wasn’t the security around Death Star II that doomed the Empire. It was Vader turning his cloak at the last minute, added to the totally unexpected intervention of some very meddlesome teddy bears from the moon of Endor that did it.

Let’s not forget that it was the Emperor himself who made sure that the access codes to the station reached the Rebellion…unless you and I are talking about different versions of RotJ, Mr. Dave Olden.

“you and I are talking about different versions of RotJ”, Yes that is quite possible as G.L. has been fiddle farting about with all the SW movies for a decade or more. So good question which rotj are you reffering to. I think were up to about 4 versions? :). I saw a version that was covered in cgi I wasent to sure if it was Rotj. but I the voices sounded familiar and im pretty sure it was one of the first 3 SW movies made but who can tell anymore I havent seen a SW movie since the last was released in the late 1980s. I thought the special editions were Space Balls sequals with huge budgets but Iv been reassured that its the same SW movie but I cant see the connection.
