Who is Reading the Star Wars: Episode 7 Script? A Hint at the Female Lead?

star wars

Bad Robot has just posted that image on Instagram. Is that a hint that they have finally found the female lead for Star Wars: Episode 7…

They also tweeted this:

The weather in the Bad Robot Reading Room turned unseasonably cold this morning. http://t.co/M6VHEd9BiH
— Bad Robot (@bad_robot) April 17, 2014

Back in 2013 Bad Robot tweeted the following image suggesting that it was an early draft of the Episode 7 script.

star wars

This script is a perfect match with the one from the other image. And looking at the girl’s skin color and hair I think this gives even more credibility to the recent rumor about the unknown Oxford actress Maisie Richardson-Sellers.

Nice nails. 😉 (image via JCF member rezpen)

I’m not coming back to this site anymore because i don’t want to ruin what surprises they will have in part 7. It’s just sad to see many of you wanting to know everything that will be in the movie way before its even released. This site is cool, but im done with it cause i don’t want to know any more details about it. Peace out..

I for one certainly don’t want to know everything about the new movie. All I’m really interested in between now and VII’s release is the basic cast list, a few photo clues to mull over and a short trailer or two that gives me a taste of where things pick up.

Agreed. It hurts nothing hearing about this stuff especially if most if not all turns out to be fictional. Once this site delivers conformation on the cast and such, I’ll go back into the exile in waiting for Dec 18th. At least I’ll know some names, just like when Episode I was filming.

Doubtful as Jaina is described as looking very much her mother (Leia) and acting like her Father (Han) and Maternal Grandfather (Anakin Skywalker)- Recklessly charging into battle blindly and somehow getting out alive, and obsessed with their ship (and other things they build)

I REALY do hope that they have Jaina, Jacen (Animal loving jokester), and Anakin (Scared by how much he is like his namesake) Solo (and their ‘friends’ (aka love interests) Zekk, TenelKa Djo, and Tahiri Veila, as well as Chewie’s nephew Lowbaca and Luke’s son Ben) in the upcoming series

No idea what her acting chops are like, of course, but I think she’s got a really good look for a SW heroine (assuming they have in fact given her a lead role.)

I would tend to think not, but who knows? She certainly has the looks of a great female lead.

With her limited experience, though, you’re may very well be right. That would be a mighty big gamble to hand a lead role to somebody with no film credits.

Then again, the production team indicated that they might be looking to go that way when they were doing all of those cattle calls around the country. So at this point I’m not 100% sure what to think.

    • April 17, 2014 at 11:01 pm
      Permalink

Why would they post a supporting cast member reading a script this close to production over a lead cast member?

That being said, whomever has been cast …especially the young unknowns, they’re heads have got to be swimming right about now. A state of shock would be an understatement. Less so with the Brute, since their training tempers that fame bs. To them it’s just s gig.

The way Disney and their associates have handled the movie development up to this point is beyond disrespectful.

    • April 17, 2014 at 9:58 pm
      Permalink

Disrespectful in what way? Because we aren’t getting regular production updates? For something as big as a resurrection of the Star Wars movie franchise, I can see where they’d want to play things close to the vest for as long as possible.

I strongly suspect that they’re waiting to make casting announcements as part of some big media event, sort of like what was done when the BBC revealed the actor who will be playing the Doctor in the next season of Doctor Who. In that case, fan speculation went on for weeks and months, with at least half a dozen “virtually confirmed” casting rumors coming down the pike. In the end, it turned out that they had cast the new Doctor almost immediately after they learned that Matt Smith was leaving the show.

I think that with SW Ep. 7, it’s probably going to turn out to be rather similar.

    • April 18, 2014 at 3:47 am

I agree, jus’t a joke to them.Guess they enjoy playing with the fans this way.
Like what is fun to a bully is painful to others. Most fans i know now don’t give a damd anymore when it comes to these things. When George Lucas was in charge you would never see him treat the fans like this in such a disrespectful way.

    • April 18, 2014 at 10:52 am
      Permalink

Disney isn’t treating the fans disrespectful at all. That’s absurd and laughable. They’re just protecting their product which they have every right to do as yesteerday showed us there will still be spies looking to steak something and posting it for the world anyway no matter how hard they try. The gnat-like attention spans of today’s people is the problem here and nothing else. Period.

oh cry me a friggin river… there is nothing disrespectful going on from Disney or in any way shape or form from anyone involved in this. That is about the dumbest statement I have heard so far. They are keeping things hush hush and that is perfectly fine. Let them do their job and enjoy what gets announced, come here and enjoy what leaks and inside info (and speculation) comes out, enjoy the conversation (or not) and most of all enjoy the finished product when it comes out…. such a sense of entitlement from some people. It gets annoying.

Inevitably there is going to be considerable secrecy. When they were making “Empire”, Mark Hamill was apparently the third person in the universe, after Lucas and the director, who knew that Vader would really say “I am your father” in the finished movie (even the guy inside the Vader suit was given a fake line instead, later overdubbed!) Reportedly even Harrison Ford was surprised when he attended opening night! Same thing now: Obviously they want to hold on to their secrets as long as possible, and just as obviously, obsessive fans are trying to figure out what is going on. This whole dynamic is inevitable, part of the game, and maybe in a sense healthy. They drive us nuts with their secrecy, we drive them nuts with leaks and spy reports from their sets. A complete script leaking really has to be their worst nightmare.

I don’t think this is the final script we are looking at. If anything it’s an early rough draft. Scripts are edited and pages are removed and added. Usually they use different colors of paper for each edit so they can determine when that was added or changed. This may be an audition script or something related.

Also I doubt many of the actors would be given a complete script. Samuel Jackson has stated when he played Mace in Ep 1. They only gave him the lines to the few scenes he was in. So I doubt anyone other than the director, producer and writers have seen the whole thing.

JJ, First, don’t listen to the fans.

Second, we want Jawas as the central villain in the ST led by Luke who turns to the Dark Side with Mara Jade at his side played by Sigourney Weaver. We also want Benedict Cumberbatch’s voice as the voice of a talking Bantha named Bizzy. We also want Maisie to be playing Obi-wan’s daughter and her mom is a Tusken to be played by Judi Dench. IF you don’t deliver on any of these we will boycott!!!

      Thirdly, review the first again.

Ah, that is lame! No, HERE is the plot we want:

After the defeat of the Empire, Luke took Leia with him to Dagobah and trained her in the ways of the Force. Unfortunately, when she returned as a fully trained Jedi knight, she found Han in bed with a gorgeous Twi’lek.

In her fury, Leia promptly turned to the Dark Side and came up with a brilliant plan to become ruler of the Galaxy. She tracked down the most annoying person in the entire universe and had him publicly executed in a massively published media event, broadcast over the holonet to every inhabited planet. His last words, just before Leia brought her ruby lightsaber down on his sorry neck, are recorded as: “Spare mesa! Mesa no wanna dyin’!”

Having manipulated the gullible masses in this way, Leia was crowned Empress of the Galaxy by an ecstatic public. Thirty years later, she has rebuilt Palpatine’s empire, and just like him, she now appears as a yellow-eyed, disgusting, deformed monster. (In other words, Carrie Fisher with yellow contact lenses and no makeup.)

Luke, in the meantime, has spent 30 years on Endor building the only army that will conceivably be able to defeat Empress Organa: THE EWOK SQUAD. This strategy is based on the irrefutable philosophy: “If these critters could defeat Palpatine’s elite stormtroopers with sticks and stones, they can surely conquer the entire galaxy if we give them lightsabers!”

The climax will be set on the Death Star III (for of course the Empire has built a new Death Star — that is what the Empre always does, right?) What will Empress Organa do when her gargantuan space station is invaded by a myriad cutesy furballs wielding lightsabers? Yubb Nubb! Yubb Nubb! Let the sweet carnage begin!

See, JJ, there’s your plot! We expect nothing less in December 2015!

    Omg… a girl. Stop the presses! 😛

Anyways as long as she’s not a Solo, Skywalker, or Kenobi I’m cool. Sorry I want a more experianced actress then a first time actress who you’re suggesting it is, not to mention shoehorning in a surprise race change to a the “key” families. I have no problem with them getting race changes as long as they’ve been alluded to in previous movies (so Luke or Han+Leia’s kids marrying other races is very cool with me). However, Obi-wan shouldn’t have kids since he’s the rolemodel old school jedi, Han+Leia are white and having them adapot would take far longer to get behind in 2 hours then just having their own kids (same applies to Luke), and I just hate the parallels Luke has to Lucas’s life (its the weakest part of his character) so please don’t make him marry a clone of Lucas’s new wife (it’d be like adding Jar-Jar again just to appease his little boy *sigh*).

Lucas: That’s something that will be resolved in time. I’ve never gotten the time to explain that properly like I had hoped to

Reporter: Like the Whils that spoke to Qui-Gon ?

Lucas: Yeah. There’s a bit of back story to the Whills and as to the ability to remain as a spirit in our world. It’ll eventually get explained.

REPORTER: So you’ll be getting into this within the remaining two (Clones and Sith) films then?

Nope. Force Ghosts (even though slightly mentioned in season six) have not been explained away, and neither have the Whills, who were barely mentioned in season six. The only bit explaining the Whills even more so was left on the cutting room floor when they edited ROTS. Closest peoples even in that general direction mentioned otherwise were the Night Sisters on Dathomir, and even they weren’t exactly given a proper origin for a group so sensitive to the Force besides the Jedi and the Sith. And then there were the father, son, and daughter demi-gods who sought to see if Anakin was the balance they’d heard about. Now they were a bit of fluff from TCW, but that’s all.

I think blue finger nail girl could be Daisy head Maisie. I base this concurrence solely on the fact that she likes to paint her nails with a thick coat.and she has dark hair. The question I have is — IS she to be playing the Solo daughter OR this Kenobi offspring?

I just pray there is no one named Kenobi (other than Obi-wan’s ghost) in the ST. IMO it would ruin alot of the story Obi-wan having offspring or grandoffspring.

Doubtful. according to the EU which they are supposedly dissecting and taking bits and pieces from- Luke Doesn’t have a daughter- he only has one child a son named Ben. Leia on the other hand has twins- Jaina(F) and Jacen(M) and another son (Anakin11) who is about 1.5 years younger.
Also as this girl has darker skin it is much more likely that if she has any relation to ANY known movie SW characters it would be Lando.

I’d laugh if this was an assistant just reading the script LOL.

Na! Script would be under armed guard, if what we’ve been reading about JJ’s paranoia is true.
