Possible Episode 7 Audition Script + More Rumors on the Two Characters and Gary Kurtz’ Opinion.

cast

As we reported yesterday, an open audition will take place in the UK and the US next week. Now a possible Episode 7 audition script have hit the web. Hit the jump to check out what the script is about as well as some more rumors on the two characters…

Yesterday we showed you that Episode 7 open auditions will also take place in the US:

Episode 7 Auditions for 2 Lead Roles to be Held in the UK Next Week. Disney Exec Says the Movie is Planned for the End of 2015.

Now Furiousfanboys found out that you could actually get information about the casting, and even download the “sides” that people will read from when they audition for the role. Here’s what they send you by email. It’s a watermarked PDF with your email address, and with the following script page:

Rachel labors to bear Thomas’ weight as they inch their way down the deserted road, blood dripping from his leg. He’s trying to stomach an apple.

THOMAS
(kidding)
Can’t you go any faster?

RACHEL
Shut up and eat your apple.

He enjoyed that. But every step is sheer agony on the leg.

RACHEL
There’s a barn a little farther up the road…

INT. BARN – LATE DAY

A big BARN, dark and damp. Rachel covers the floor with hay, and then lays out her sleeping bag. Thomas looks through her backpack for anything he can use as a bandage.

RACHEL
You need rest…

She lowers him down – which puts her face mere inches from his open would. She cringes without meaning to.

THOMAS
Sorry. I know it’s –

RACHEL
It’s fine. I’m just, not a big fan of blood.

THOMAS
Ya know, for such a tough girl you’re kind of squeamish.

RACHEL
Your fever’s still up. And we have to get some more food in you.

THOMAS
I’m not hungry.

RACHEL
It wasn’t a request.

She sits down next to him and takes out a loaf a bread.

THOMAS (CONT’D)
Rachel, thanks for coming to get me.

RACHEL
Family has to stick together,
Right?

She starts to rise. He grabs her hand – dead serious:

THOMAS
Listen, if I don’t make it –

RACHEL
Sssshh.

THOMAS
But if I don’t…

Before he can finish, she drops down next to him and looks him dead in the eye.

RACHEL
You’re not going to die. I forbid it. Okay?

THOMAS
Okay.

RACHEL
Get some sleep.

THOMAS
What about you?

RACHEL
I will. In a bit.

Of course these script auditions very rarely have something to do with the real story of the actual movie. Here are some more clues about the characters from BadAssDigest:

Some people say this shows that the leads of the movie will not be the children of Luke or of Han and Leia, but I don’t agree. For one thing, the “Thomas” character grew up without a dad, but it doesn’t say his dad is dead. I’ve heard that Luke’s son is the focus of the movie (grain of salt, etc, it’s all rumors and I’m not reporting this as a fact or anything), and Thomas could be that son. Imagine a movie where Thomas knows he’s Luke’s son but Luke doesn’t know he’s the dad – a reversal of the father/son relationship in the original trilogy (and remember Star Trek Into Darkness, Abrams loves cheap reversals). They’re NOT looking multi-ethnic for that role, so I’m assuming they want a white kid.

star wars

Star Wars Episode IV and V producer Gary Kurtz spoke to The Guardian about why JJ Abrams is likely to be holding open auditions for Episode 7, and how he and George Lucas chose many of the original cast.

When we cast the original Star Wars film all three of the main leads were pretty much unknown.

We made a summary for an open casting call and that went out to every actor’s agent and actor’s school we knew.

I imagine the producers and casting directors for Episode VII will be holding open auditions for the same reasons we did. It’s always difficult to see the actor in the part until they are there in front of you doing it. If they do anything like we did they will be looking first at their physical presence and then talking with them to get an idea of their personalities. They will be reducing it to possibly 10 people for each role. Sometimes they only have five. If they are rebooting the franchise they want these people in more than one film, so they will need people who have chemistry together.

star wars

Doing open auditions makes sense to me. Some of the more recent films they cast star names. I think they never bothered to test them with other people and sometimes when you do that there doesn’t seem to be a lot of chemistry on the screen.

They are not going to be shooting it until next spring so they have got time to search through all these candidates. They don’t have a script as far as I know, but they will have a good idea where they are going with the story.

I think JJ Abrams is a really good choice to direct the new film. From what I can see he loves the Star Wars mythology and the early films. He’s a fine film-maker and knows how to present stories. The fact that they are doing a new trilogy and a series of separate origins movies as well means they have an opportunity to do quite a few different things. It might be overkill, but having all these characters doesn’t seem to be a problem for the Marvel films. And Disney seems to have made a real success of those.

For the full interview with videos from Ford’s, Fisher’s and Hamill’s auditions go to the Guardian.

“Well it looks like some kind of love story”

Not unless it’s an incestuous one.

Actually when you think about it… those scenes rely entirely on the greatness of the actors. So that might be why they chose such a sparse narrative for the rehearsal.

As for me, I don’t care about truth of rumors or speculation. It’s a fun diversion. I will see all the movies regardless and am excited. I haven’t yet decided if I really want to read true spoilers.

Lol chill out its not the actual script, its just something to go off of to audition. You couldn’t be taken seriously if you think they would just send out a part of the script to anyone who signs up online for an audition lol. They wont let people actually read from the script until they’re probably down to the last few people to pic from or not at all until they’re cast.

lol it’s definitely not. It’s a standard structure the industry uses for big films they wish to keep quiet. They will either pull a pre-written short scene written in script style of just an average or general conversation, or they will just have someone write one up. They serve two purposes, one for secrecy, and two to see the actors talent as well as how well they work with other actors before they decide they want them to move on in the process and at that time the script they read from may change. This is by no means from the story and the names are not the same either, they’re more or less “code names” for the actual character in the final script.

Yeah, I don’t think that any of the dialogue has anything to do with the actual Ep 7 characters or story. It’s just audition dialogue to give the actors something to work with. The casting team will be looking at not just acting skill, but also chemistry, movement and whether the actors have the “look” each character needs.

That doesn’t require dialogue from the actual script. And really, the character backgrounds may not be the same as what the actual film characters will be. They may just be there to give the actors a “type” to play that’s generally similar to what’s being cast.

Well personally I’d rather people actually read for their actual characters and lines to see if they fit the role. I don’t care about the look or movement of the actor, just what shows on-screen. The fact its so important to bring pictures of themselves, and to read for stuff that isn’t even for their character just worries me a little. However it’s understandable for secrecy, and with casting directors like Nina Gold, Alyssa Weisberg, April webster, and then with the amount of people they will audition anyway, I’m sure it will be a great cast nevertheless.

Given the prequels though I can see people’s fear of this being real lol. Anakin’s dialog with Padme comes to mind… pretty much all of it.

for the post at 5:29pm – Not to be a dick but thats why you’re not a casting director or involved in charge. There is a formula the industry uses and it works. Disney is not new at making films, they as well know what they’re doing as well as who they have hired to do it for them. The casting directors already know the real characters and know what they’re looking for, the actor auditioning technically doesn’t need the EXACT character lines etc from the script. This is no different than how the industry does it on any other film let alone large film. No one has to worry because its not the real lines from the script, theres a reason its called “audition”. To see if they have the TALENT to play the character. Once they are cast and know the character then they will know what to do and they also have the proper people in the crew to help them with that. People need to have more faith and stop freaking out over every bit of news, you’d be surprised at how many films including EVERY star wars film how many bumps and set backs there are (not saying this is a setback). Every film has these issues, its not their first rodeo in making a film.

alright alright calm down. I was just bringing up a point is all. I’m only worried about how they approach this. I know this is a process film companies use. As I said “I’m sure it will be a great cast”. My point was that I don’t like the fact they are reading dialogue that doesn’t even account to their character, and that its important to bring a photo with them. Yes, I know this happens a lot in casting to see actors who are talented, but it’s not a good process at all for characters that are really detailed. But as I also say, this is a big film so loads of people will try for it, and they have good casting directors, so it actually doesn’t matter what processes they use as they’ll surely stumble across people who fit the role well. Plus I’m sure they are still also going to do it the proper way, with actually bringing in loads of actors who read actual lines from the film, and signing a confidentiality agreement, and all that good stuff.

Wait a second – this sounds more like Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch for Avengers 2 than it does for Star Wars. They are brother and sister who grew up without their father around (Magneto).

Those roles have already been cast. Aaron Taylor-Johnson is Quicksilver and Elizabeth Olsen is Scarlet Witch. So these are roles for something else. The side isn’t from the actual script either, it’s to test how actors do with a script they’ve not seen before.

That won’t be her name in the movie. It’s a code name, like how Return of the Jedi was hidden under the fake working title Blue Harvest. It is likely there real names will be revealed later.

I like it but is it just me but some of these lines are almost word for word from one of the scenes in the Hunger Games. The leg injury, the girl taking care of him.

“Even if I don’t make it” – Peeta
    “Sssshh” – Katniss
“Listen, if I don’t make it” – Thomas
    “Sssshh.” – Rachel

“You’re not going to die. I forbid it. All right?” – Katniss
“You’re not going to die. I forbid it. Okay?” – Rachel

“You know, you’re kind of squeamish for such a lethal person,” – Peeta
“Ya know, for such a tough girl you’re kind of squeamish.” – Thomas

“Can you speed it up a little?” – Peeta
“No. Shut up and eat your pears” – Katniss
“Can’t you go any faster?” – Thomas
“Shut up and eat your apple.” – Rachel

“I haven’t been hungry for days”- Peeta
“Peeta, we need to get some food in you,” – Katniss
“And we have to get some more food in you”. – Rachel
    “I’m not hungry.” – Thomas
