Final Star Wars Rebels Season 3 Episodes Get Names and Descriptions.

Descriptions for the final five episodes of Star Wars Rebels Season 3 have arrived ahead of the air dates of the last two episodes to get descriptions. The even better news is that there will be no more hiatuses this season!

From Jedi-Bibliothek:

3×18 “Secret Cargo” – 3/04/2017
When a routine refueling mission goes wrong, the Ghost crew find themselves transporting an important rebel leader across the galaxy, pursued by Imperial warships.

3×19 “Double Agent Droid” – 3/11/2017
Chopper and AP-5 team up to infiltrate an Imperial station to steal needed codes, but an Imperial specialist turns the droids against the crew to cause chaos.

3×20 “Twin Suns” – 3/18/2017
Reacting to a vision of Maul, Ezra defies Hera and Kanan to travel to a remote planet in hopes of stopping the former Sith lord from carrying out his plans.

3×21 – “Zero Hour – Part One” – 3/25/2017
In final preparations for their attack on Lothal, Phoenix Squadron’s plans are disrupted when Grand Admiral Thrawn discovers their location.

3×22 “Zero Hour- Part Two” – 3/25/2017
Trapped on Atollon with the rebel base under siege, Hera and Kanan fight to keep the squadron alive, as Ezra attempts to rally help from an unexpected source.

As usual, this season is wrapping up in late March – just in time for Star Wars Celebration to (presumably) have a panel on Season 4. As evident in the previous descriptions we’ve learned of, this last batch of seven episodes will be very eventful, covering Sabine’s plea to unite the Mandalorians, the formation of the Rebel Alliance, Darth Maul’s confrontation with Obi-Wan, and Thrawn’s grand plan in motion. Given that the Thrawn novel is set to be released shortly after the season finale, it should be safe to assume that the Empire’s Chiss mastermind will make it out of Season 3 alive and could be a long-term villain for the series. In any case, Star Wars Rebels will return on February 18, with thankfully no interruptions between now and the last few episodes.

So, will the tradition go on and the Season 4 be premiered at Celebration?

My guess? Maybe! But I don’t think they’ll announce whether they’re going to do it or not until we get closer to Celebration itself.

Sounds like Ezra may convince Maul to help the Rebellion.

Personally I think this is Maul’s end. Obi-Wan will defeat him.

My theory (based on the trailer and episode descriptions):
        1. Ezra has vision that Maul confronts Obi-Wan (seen in trailer).
        2. Ezra goes to Tatooine to stop him.
        3. Ezra confronts Maul, whereupon Ezra discovers that Maul’s real beef is with Palpatine.
        4. Ezra convinces Maul that together they can defeat the Emperor.

This could work, but as a fan I’d prefer that Obi-Wan and Maul have a final duel and Maul die, just to finish the Maul narrative.

        Or recruit him?

I think the unexpected source might be Obi-Wan… Though if Obi-Wan got out of tatooine while we was watching Luke… I wouldn’t have big issues with it, but probably some fans would go crazy.

I sure hope it’s not Obi Wan. I really like the image of Obi Wan being completely cut off from the rest of civilization for 20 years just protecting Luke.

But if protecting Luke demands that Obi-wan go off world for a day to finish off Maul, I wouldn’t mind that.

Ehhhhhh….maybe. But I just prefer that Obi Wan has no contact with our Rebels crew.

      It’s probably Hondo, sigh.
      But maybe it’s Bendu?

My first thought was Bendu but would he really be considered an “unexpected source” of help at this point.

I think they could get away with saying that given that Bendu has been kind of indifferent. And to this I say, yay, even more Jedi/Force users running around when they are supposed to be wiped out (that’s sarcasm by the way). At least Bendu isn’t an official Jedi.

So “Twin Suns”, as Maul describes his vision which will come full circle in his arc, will be the episode in which we will see Old Ben Kenobi himself. Can’t wait. ^_^

Also, great to see another episode featuring more AP-5 and Chopper action.

I thought fulcrum was like “head informant” which sounds like a leadership position to me. At any right, I’m just basing that on the previous episode description. In that one, the Rebels race to save Kallus. So maybe they succeed and the next episode is them escaping with Kallus.

“Fulcrum” is just an umbrella title. Anyway, we see Mon Mothma in the trailer, so it’s likely her.

For reals. That would be a letdown. They need to set him up as a pursuer-antagonist for Season 4, IMO.

exactly. they don’t really have any way to up the ante after thrawn short of bringing the emperor out, but they’d never do that.

His novel hits after Season 3 ends. They won’t be killing him here.

Also, in one of the other episodes that I mentioned in the previous article, Thrawn plays an active role. It’s the one with Kallus.

i hope you are right, though i’m a little worried that the book is the character’s swan song.

The novel takes place before Rebels, so it has no bearing on his mortality in the show.

Right, but the thing is that they wouldn’t be embellishing the character – much let Timothy Zahn write his story again – if his role wasn’t important. There’s a lot that they could do with the Inquisitors, for instance, but they have yet to give them books of their own.

The inquisitors are not beloved characters for decades. They might kill him off and then release the book and then his story is complete.

They might not, as you say. But it could go either way

It would be such a mistake to kill thrawn. Hope they don’t or if they do that it is some betrayal out of nowhere. I swear if little Ezra or Zeb outsmarts a grand admiral in combat then they are just flushing away the good will they earned by using the character. If you need him gone find an excuse for him to be sent into unknown regions like in old canon

    • February 9, 2017 at 10:55 am

This could work if they bring him back for the post-OT series and he dies before VII. Make him the main villain like in the old EU then they could borrow more from the Thrawn trilogy if they wanted, Even have Zahn write those episodes.

Maybe make him like the last of the old Galactic Empire guard before they morph into The First Order.

Judging from where the Aftermath trilogy is going, that’s unlikely.

That all takes place within a year or two after ROTJ, though. There’s plenty more to be told between Empire’s End and Bloodline. I see no reason why Zahn’s EU Thrawn trilogy can’t be drawn upon heavily for further stories in that time period. Unless, of course, they kill off Thrawn in Rebels. I like Arec Baldrin’s suggestion.

Because it appears that the Empire is going to disappear and stop hounding the New Republic until they re-emerge as the First Order. He can’t be leader of the military if that happens.

That’s likely, but Thrawn could be part of a different splinter group that breaks off before ROTJ and re-emerges 5 years later or something.

That’s possible, but from what I read of Bloodlines, it didn’t seem like there was a log, mopping up of splinter groups. It seemed like peace had been around for a while.

Don’t forget there were a number of Super Star Destroyer’s that were listed as destroyed which turned out to be a cover-up. As far as we know, only one SSD is part of Rax’s fleet. Maybe Thrawn is aboard one of the other ones with his own fleet. I could be remembering wrong though.

The events of the novel will occur long before the first season of Reabels. So nothing prevents Thrawn’s death in season 3. I don’t think this will be the case though, but it could happen. More likely Thrawn will have a big victory in season 3, and then will be killed in one of the next seasons.

Behind this season, so I can’t really comment much on these episodes but I think PT/R1 Mon Mothma underrated lookers in the series. Too bad she looks like she ages so much between IV and VI but it’s understandable.

If you look at how much Barack Obama aged in the eight years of his presidency, for instance, and see the ~5 years between R1 and RotJ, it’s definitely plausible imo.
