Katee Sackhoff Joins the Rebels Season 3 Cast + Titles for the first 6 Episodes Revealed

Bo KatanWe’re exactly 2 weeks away from the premiere of Star Wars Rebels: Season 3. The show will premier in the US on September 24, 2016 on Disney XD, with the two pilot episodes titled “Steps into Shadow”. Now the guys from JediBibliothek uncovered the titles for the following 4 episodes with their premiere dates. Also JediNews is reporting that a familiar Clone Wars character will make a return in Rebels. Read on for the full details.

This season is expected to have 22 episodes, and the titles and premiere dates for the first 6 episodes are as follows:

  • 01-02: “Steps into Shadow, Parts 1 & 2” – USA: 09/24/2016
  • 03: “The Holocrons of Fate” – USA: 10/01/2016
  • 04: “The Antilles Extraction” – USA: 10/08/2016
  • 05: “Hera’s Heroes” – USA: 10/15/2016
  • 06: “The Last Battle” – USA: 10/22/2016

You can read our review of the first two episodes here. The rest of the titles sound pretty interesting, promising exciting stuff from the start. It’s nice to see that we will be introduced to Wedge Antilles so early in the season. As we know from the trailer Wedge is an Imperial cadet who defects from the Skystrike Academy to join the rebellion. The title for the 6th episode could suggest that one cycle from the story will probably wrap there.

Here’s the official description of Season 3:

Having established a secret base on Atollon, the Ghost crew, now led by a more powerful Ezra, strengthens the rebel fleet by acquiring new resources and recruits eager to stand against the Empire. However, the Imperial efforts to eliminate the rebellion are now being led by the coldly analytical Grand Admiral Thrawn, whose strategic, tactical and cultural insights make him a threat unlike any they have faced before. In season three, Ezra and Sabine take on new roles and challenges as the rebels prepare for their biggest mission yet—a direct assault on the Empire. (via Wookieepedia)

In other Rebels news, team JediNews uncovered very interesting reveal by Sci Fi Central Australia. During a panel at Sydney Comic Con, actress Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica) revealed that her Clone Wars character Bo Katan will make a return in Rebels season 3. Not only that, but she already finisher recording her lines.

For those of you unfamiliar with that character, here’s Wookieepedia’s entry on Bo Katan:

Bo-Katan Kryze was a female human from the planet Mandalore who served Death Watch during the Clone Wars. She was the sister of Mandalorian Duchess Satine Kryze, whose pacifist reign Bo-Katan opposed. As a member of Death Watch, Bo-Katan became the trusted lieutenant of the group’s leader, Pre Vizsla, and joined with him as a member of Darth Maul’s Shadow Collective. After the group successfully took over Mandalore, Bo-Katan split from the Shadow Collective once Maul killed Pre Vizsla and became the leader of Death Watch. Bo-Katan and her Nite Owls fought against Maul’s followers, and she helped Obi-Wan Kenobi—a close friend of the late Satine, who was killed by Darth Maul—escape from Mandalore.

Bo Katan

Bo Katan’s involvement with the story is yet another small hint at the possible Obi-Wan vs. Darth Maul clash in Rebels season 3. We speculated about this a few days ago here.

    24/09/2016 2 episodes
    10/01/2016 1 episode
    10/08/2016 1 episode
    15/10/2016 1 episode
    10/22/2016 1 episode

so, is this DD/MM/YYYY or MM/DD/YYYY because in the first column there is “15” and “24”, so those must be days, therefore the 2nd column must be months, but then why is “22” in the second column for the 6th episode? There’s no 22nd month

Looks like a clerical error. In MM/DD/YYYY format they should look like this, given they will be released a week apart for most of the season:

      09/24/2016 2 episodes
      10/01/2016 1 episode
      10/08/2016 1 episode
      10/15/2016 1 episode
      10/22/2016 1 episode

Nice! I’d almost forgotten she was Satine’s sister – should be interesting how Season 3 plays out with Mandalore. And here’s hoping we get a Bo-Katan Black Series figure now…that would be most rad. *crosses fingers*

That episode with Bo-Katan (“The Lawless”) is my favorite episode from the entire show. There is so much happening in that episode, and it’s all perfect. Watching Darth Sidious take apart Maul and Savage is simply amazing. (“You have become… a RIVAL!”) Obi-Wan and Satine scenes were heartbreaking. The Obi-Wan escape scenes were thrilling. It’s going to be really awesome to see Bo-Katan make her return in Rebels!

I couldn’t agree more. That episode is one of the best ever. If not the very best. Loved watching how powerful Sidious was. And satine/obi-wan scene was one of the saddest scenes in all of Star Wars.

Pilot episodes? This isn’t a new series. It’s called a season premiere.

So if they had a post-Episode 6 series to followup Rebels how many characters would Filoni bring along with him? Maul/Ezra/Ashoka and a clone of Rex live once again.

Well Rex he already said he assumes is that endor extra from RotJ, but if Ezra, maul or Ashoka came along it would really be a head scratcher. I wouldn’t mind characters like Hando showing up though, or even Thrawn if he dosnt die.

Darth maul vs obiwan sounds good and i agree/hope they are headed there. Bo coming back sounds good. Never did get to see what happened to her since they cancelled clone wars. I wish this ahow had never introduced the inquisitors… It would work be so much better if it was so crowded with force users during this time. I at least hope they quick answer the questions of the inquistors (how many, why do they need so many, ect) and then finish them off and bring the focus of this show back to the rebels and empire. Really use rogue one as a template for what this show should be. What would be great os if ezra wiped out all the inquisitors with one shot, then turned dark, and kanan and the ghost crew had to take him down, kanan sacrificing himself. New characters and more rex would also be good. Hera needs to go home to be with her dad and the big purple guy needs to go be with his people. They just arent that interesting of characters.
