Rumor: Quantic Dream’s Game Titled ‘Star Wars: Eclipse’, Set in the High Republic Era

Quantic Dream’s rumored Star Wars title may be exploring an era that Lucasfilm has had a great degree of interest in: the High Republic. It’s also going to be known as Star Wars: Eclipse, if the latest report is accurate.

According to video game insider Jeff Grubb (hat tip Bespin Bulletin), the subtitle of the new Star Wars game is Eclipse, it will be made by Quantic Dream, and it is set during the High Republic era. Grubb revealed this rumor as a passing detail in a three-hour podcast, which is embedded at the bottom of this article and is mostly about video games that have no relation to Star Wars.

From what we’ve been able to tell, Quantic Dream’s game has been in the pipeline for approximately 20 months now, is being made in their Montréal studio, with general manager Stéphane D’Astous (best known for working on the Deus Ex games Human Revolution and Mankind Divided) and gameplay director Yohan Cazaux (who developed the Assassin’s Creed games Black Flag, Origins, and Valhalla) being hired to work there. Word about the title is that it will be more action-driven than previous Quantic Dream games, with the possibilities of multiplayer and open-world elements making their way into the title. Given who Quantic Dream has hired for this game, this would make quite a bit of sense.

It is believed that Lucasfilm will announce a new Star Wars game late into the year as part of their “Bring Home the Bounty” promotional event in the middle of December, and The Game Awards will happen before then, although there is no word if it Quantic Dream’s alleged title will be revealed at either point. Furthermore, Quantic Dream has not officially confirmed that they are working on Star Wars: Eclipse. In any case, we’ll be sure to keep you updated this and the latest Star Wars gaming news.
