‘The Acolyte’ Trailer Scores 51 Million Views, Lucasfilm Record on Disney Plus
Lucasfilm is taking a victory lap after releasing the first teaser trailer for Leslye Headland’s The Acolyte on Tuesday.
Apparently, the 90-second promo scored 51.3 million views across all platforms in its first 24 hours, StarWars.com announced today. This is the highest number for any Star Wars series on Disney Plus so far, they added.
The highly anticipated series takes place 100 years before The Phantom Menace and will focus on a Sith villain, Mae, played by Amandla Stenberg, as well as the Jedi investigating a series of murders the dark side has been responsible for.This is the official synopsis for the series:
In The Acolyte, an investigation into a shocking crime spree pits a respected Jedi Master (Lee Jung-jae) against a dangerous warrior from his past (Amandla Stenberg). As more clues emerge, they travel down a dark path where sinister forces reveal all is not what it seems….
In addition to the trailer, Lucasfilm revealed plenty of details yesterday, including names and character descriptions for all main characters in the ensemble. The Acolyte comes out on Disney Plus on June 4, at 6pm PT / 9pm ET, or June 5 at 2am BST. It will be a two-episode premiere, both of them directed by Leslye Headland.
