UPDATE 2: All Nine ‘Star Wars’ Saga Films Coming to Theaters On May The Fourth; New Look at ‘The Acolyte’ Tied To ‘The Phantom Menace’ Screenings

UPDATE: StarWars.com has confirmed that an exclusive look at The Acolyte will play after The Phantom Menace during its May re-release. They also said that tickets will go on sale Friday, March 22, at 9 am PT / 12 pm ET.

They have also confirmed the rumors of a theatrical re-release of all nine Skywalker Saga films, though the preview for The Acolyte will only be tied to The Phantom Menace screenings. It will happen on Star Wars Day, May the Fourth. Tickets will also go on sale tomorrow.

Not 12 hours have passed since the first trailer for The Acolyte hit online and we’re already thinking about the next one. After online rumors and plenty of speculation, AMC Theaters has confirmed that a new look at the Leslye Headland series will be tied to the re-release of The Phantom Menace on May 3-5.

On their page advertising the movie’s re-release, they wrote after the synopsis of the film:

“After the feature, fans will also get a special first look at Star Wars: The Acolyte series coming to Disney+ June 2024.”

This will happen on the first weekend of May, when The Phantom Menace will be re-released in North American theaters to celebrate the film’s 25th anniversary. It will also happen one month before the series debuts on Disney Plus, which lines up with the time we would expect a second trailer. However, descriptions of this special promo seem more in line with that Andor behind-the-scenes footage that played in front of Rogue One back in 2022. To capitalize on the social media boost acquired by said featurette, Lucasfilm could release another trailer for the show a couple of days later.

Additionally, in recent days, there have been some rumors that, on the same weekend, Disney will also re-release in 4K all three films from the original trilogy (on Saturday, May 4) and the prequel trilogy (May 5). This has definitely not been confirmed, and we’re taking it with a huge grain of salt, especially considering it would overlap with The Phantom Menace‘s big moment, and Disney definitely wants to boast some big box office numbers on the Monday after (like they did last year with Return of the Jedi.)
