‘Andor’ IMAX Preview Makes Its Way Online

Last night, Lucasfilm rereleased Rogue One: A Star Wars Story as part of a week-long event done to promote the upcoming release of the Disney Plus prequel series Andor. Now, the ten-minute preview accompanying the film has made its way online.

The IMAX preview was made up of a behind-the-scenes clip discussing the setting and characters that will be part of this grittier Star Wars narrative, followed by a clip showcasing a conversation between Cassian and Luthen (a snippet of which can be seen here) along with a subsequent action scene, before ending with the most recent trailer for the series. You can check it out below:

Andor showcases the backstory of the intelligence officer Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), a former Separatist who has humble beginnings as a thief for the Rebel Alliance in the years before he helps lead one of the most important missions in the Galactic Civil War: the theft of the Death Star plans. Elsewhere in the galaxy, Senator Mon Mothma (Genevieve O’Reilly) begins an effort to clandestinely organize a network of various rebel cells under the nose of the Empire. Other cast members include Stellan Skarsgård as Luthen Rael, Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera, Adria Arjona as Bix Caleen, Denise Gough as Dedra Meero, and Kathryn Hunter as Eedy Karn, with Anton Lesser, Robert Emms, David Hayman, Alex Ferns, Clemens Schick, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach cast in undisclosed roles.

The first season of Andor will begin airing with a three-episode premiere on September 21, 2022, with nine additional episodes airing in subsequent weeks. A second and final season of another twelve episodes, which will cover a greater period of time and conclude the story in the days leading up to the events of Rogue One, is set to begin filming this November. In the meantime, Rogue One will continue playing in select IMAX locations until Thursday afternoon.
