Report: Daisy Ridley’s ‘Star Wars’ Movie Is Not Titled Episode X, Despite Rumors

Reports have been floating around today in regards to Daisy Ridley’s upcoming Star Wars movie and the potential title it may have. According to the latest rumor, the film will be called Star Wars – Episode X: A New Beginning.

That is not the case at all, we hear. The project, which remains deep in development at Lucasfilm with Steven Knight writing the script, has been referred to internally as New Jedi Order. This is the tentative title that was announced at Star Wars Celebration last April. No Episode X there. And though A New Beginning may have been floated at some point as a title possibility, as we reported last October, we understand that it hasn’t moved beyond that point since then.

Will it be called New Jedi Order when it screens in theaters, hopefully in 2026? It’s obviously hard to tell for now, but the Episode X label seems highly unlikely at this point. Will New Jedi Order act as the working title, once it finally starts filming? Honestly, it’s unlikely. At this stage, a working title is essentially a codename for the production so that they don’t attract unwanted onlookers. Andor season 1 worked under the codename “Pilgrim”, which you could find in the signs placed around the filming locations. Having the word “Jedi” in that secret title seems like would trigger a lot of attention.

And speaking of working titles, The Cosmic Circus is saying that The Mandalorian & Grogu‘s will be “Thunder Alley”, which is, according to Wookieepedia, a region of space in the New Republic that was first and only mentioned in the Legends novel Before the Storm. Whether this is real or not, we can’t say, so we’ll take it as a rumor for now.

Production for the Jon Favreau-directed pic is happening this summer in California.
