‘Star Wars’ Manga ‘The Edge of Balance’ Returns, New Cover and Synopsis Revealed

A new article on StarWars.com reveals the cover and synopsis for the next installment of Star Wars: The Edge of Balance. Wookiee Jedi Master Arkoff graces the cover. The official synopsis for the next chapter of the High Republic manga teases the main character, Lily Tora-Asi, remaining steadfast in defending the tranquil planet of Banchii.

The cover for Edge of Balance Volume 3 shows Arkoff with his lightsaber ignited amidst a wintry backdrop. Artist Mizuki Sakakibara states the covers for the manga share a seasonal theme:

“I envisioned the covers of Edge of Balance to represent the four seasons. Volume 1 (Lily) was autumn, Volume 2 (Keerin) was summer, so this time it will be Arkoff in the winter. The Jedi are facing a tough time, but after winter comes spring.”

The manga takes place after the fall of Starlight Beacon and after most of the Jedi have been called back to regroup at Coruscant. However, the synopsis teases Jedi Knight Lily Tora-Asi defying that order and staying to defend Banchii. It also appears that Jedi Master Arkoff will have a prominent role in the story as well, following the revelations seen in The Edge of Balance: Precedent. The official synopsis has been provided below, as well as newly revealed concept art showing Lily Tora-Asi, Nima Allets, and Viv’Nia Nia’Viv:

“The destruction of Starlight Beacon also destroys the peace once protected by the great Jedi of the High Republic Era. In the year since Jedi Knight Lily Tora-Asi defied the Council’s order to return to Coruscant, the Nihil continued to storm through the galaxy, advancing in from the Outer Rim and expanding their territory. Despite the encroaching Stormwall, Lily stands her ground and reestablishes Banchii’s Jedi Temple. Banchii is not to be abandoned and its long-held secrets begin to unfurl as Jedi Master Arkoff returns to connect the pieces to a mystery long buried.”

The Edge of Balance Volume 3 releases on August 13 and is available for pre-order now.
