Characters We Would Like to See in ‘Tales of the Jedi’ Season 2

Tales of the Jedi was one of the biggest surprises from 2023. Consisting of a handful of animated shorts, the series followed Ahsoka Tano and Count Dooku at multiple points in their lives. We here at Star Wars News Net loved it. In our review of Tales of the Jedi, we called it “some of the best animated Star Wars content in years.” Not long after its debut, a second season was greenlit.

It’s been confirmed that Tales of the Jedi Season 2 will premiere in 2024. Fans can expect the series to spotlight two or three main characters if the show follows the same format. There are a lot of characters the series can choose. However, here are five characters we think could be possible candidates and have great potential to tell amazing stories in Tales of the Jedi Season 2.

Anakin and Thrawn

Tales of the Jedi Season 2 possibilities: Anakin and Thrawn

The two most popular characters in Star Wars at the moment have to be Anakin and Thrawn. Following Hayden Christensen’s return to the role of Anakin and Lars Mikkelsen’s live-action debut as Grand Admiral Thrawn, let’s see more of these two, and their history. As Ahsoka showed, Thrawn knew Anakin and Ahsoka very well.

Anakin and Thrawn have a long relationship going back to The Clone Wars. As the novel Thrawn: Alliances portrays, Thrawn knew Anakin before he was Darth Vader and served under him when he was a general. It’d be great to see some of these stories portrayed in animation. And, it’d be a wonderful opportunity to bring Matt Lanter and Lars Mikkelsen back in these beloved voice roles.

Gella Nattai

Tales of the Jedi Season 2 possibilities: Gella Nattai

Gella Nattai is one of the main protagonists in the High Republic-era novels Convergence and Cataclysm. She is a unique Jedi, wielding two lightsabers, serving as a Wayseeker (Jedi wandering the galaxy, guided by wherever the Force takes them), and has a complicated relationship with hotshot troublemaker Axel Greylark. Her character was a standout in those two books, and it’d be a shame to not explore that character even further.

With The High Republic era continuing to gain prominence, I think Gella is the perfect example of the era’s uniqueness. As a Wayseeker for the Jedi, and with daft combat abilities, featuring her in Tales of the Jedi Season 2 could be a great way to hook audiences into checking out The High Republic books and comics. Plus, her relationship with Axel Greylark is too juicy to not develop even further.

Kanan Jarrus

Characters we'd like to see in Tales of the Jedi Season 2: Kanan Jarrus

Even though Kanan’s story has already been told extensively, I still think there’s room to create and expand upon him as a character. Kanan was shown throughout Star Wars: Rebels and was the center focus of many comics and a novel, but that doesn’t mean fans can’t see more of him. Featuring Kanan Jarrus in Tales of the Jedi would be perfect, allowing the character to return to animation.

If Kanan Jarrus was featured in Tales of the Jedi Season 2, I’d love to see his first time meeting Hera and their further romance. Even though this was explored somewhat in Star Wars: A New Dawn, it’s worth showing in animation. Love stories for Jedi aren’t very common in Star Wars. So to see the first awkward, contentious, and flirtatious interactions between these two would be refreshing. It’d also be great to see Kanan’s further growth as a leader, learning to become the head of the Spectre squadron. However, I should also mention the difficulty of pulling this off considering Freddie Prinze Jr.’s reluctance to return to Kanan.

Barriss Offee

Characters we'd like to see in Tales of the Jedi Season 2: Barriss Offee

Dave Filoni has confirmed that Barris Offee is still alive and out there. After her detainment in Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 5, little is known about what happened to her. How did she survive Order 66? What has she been doing all these years? Where exactly is she?

Featuring her in Tales of the Jedi Season 2 could help explain a lot of those questions, and set her up for a possible reappearance. She’s a very complicated character with great ties to Ahsoka. It’d be interesting to see her perspective on Order 66, as she discovers that her warning to the Jedi during Ahsoka’s trial bore some truth. And it could help reintroduce the character for her to be featured in a possible second season of Ahsoka.

Tales of the Jedi Season 2 Arrives in 2024

There’s a lot to look forward to in 2024. While it’s unknown just when Tales of the Jedi Season 2 will premiere, audiences should look forward to even more emotional and thrilling short stories that highlight two or three fan-favorite characters. While Season 2 can’t feature all of our most desired characters, here’s to hoping it can feature at least one or two of these characters on this list.
